Arranged To The Alpha -
Chapter 33
Natalia:
I stared at my parents who sat in front of Blake and I.
They forbade my siblings from approaching the living room, not wanting them to know that their older sister was there. It killed me to see that they didn’t want them around me, but I wasn’t going to complain about it now. I was going to be patient and I was going to wait for how things went before saying a word.
“What are you doing here, Natalia?” Mum finally asked, breaking the awkward silence “you threw your harsh words the last time we saw one another, and you made sure to insult us as your family, what else do you want to say?”
“Why didn’t you tell me that you had to sacrifice yourself, a part of it at least, for my and mum’s sake?” I asked dad who kept his eyes on his lap. Blake wrapped his arm around me, pulling me to his chest to comfort me, assuring me that he was there for me. He moved his hand up and down my arm, gently squeezing it as he silently begged me to thread my next words carefully.
“I am not forced to explain my actions to you, Natalia” dad said harshly. His eyes glared daggers at me and his tone was a lot harsher than it was when we were outside, it was like he suddenly didn’t call me inside and just wanted me out of the house.
“I never said that you were, but things would have been a lot easier if I knew at least. I wouldn’t have blamed you for anything, and I wouldn’t have hurt your…”
“If you weren’t a good enough daughter that didn’t hurt her parents already, what would me explaining anything change?” He asked angrily. Blake squeezed my shoulder before I could answer, shaking his head at me as not to respond. Crystal purred on my shoulder, comforting me as I stared at my raging father. I smiled and nodded, wiping the tear that fell from my eye before getting up from the couch.
“I came here to apologize to you after finding out what you did” I said, avoiding his eyes “it was YOU who invited me in. I wasn’t here to come inside, nor did I want your explanation, but you mentioned that we needed to talk and I assumed that you were going to tell me something about who you or your father is. Anyhow, I apologize for disturbing you”
“Yes, I invited you inside, but not to answer any of your questions. If anything, I would do it again if I had to, why? Because I would have rather died than kill my wife, do you understand me?” He snapped. Blake stood up behind me, growling in warning at my father who let out a mocking chuckle “get out of my sight, all of you”
“It was YOU who called us inside, and I assume that it has something to do with your father. Anyhow, if we are here, then we are not going to leave without answers. Why did you go on ahead deciding to freeze your dragon? Why did you hide Natalia throughout all these years? And why didn’t you send her to train? Why did you give her a bride to me without warning the two of us about her powers being controlled in this house? What the f**k are you hiding?” Blake asked. He wrapped his arm around me, pulling me behind him, my heart raced against my ribcage when I saw my raging husband. It was a side of him that I have barely seen after the two of us completed our mating.
“Who the f**k do you think you are to ask such questions?”
“I am a man who married and fell in love with your daughter. I fell in love with a woman that I married because of how pure she was. I fell in love with a woman who knew nothing about herself, and I fell for her regardless of everything that the two of us are finding out. But YOU are going to start talking, and I will NOT be leaving this house without my answers”
“You will get no answers from me”
Blake let out another growl before taking a step toward my father. Dad stood in front of him, and mum looked at me shaking her head, silently begging me to pull my husband away from dad.
“Blake, that is enough, whatever the situation is, we will find out on our own. We came here to apologize, and it stays there, I have no intentions in finding out about anything” I said stopping Blake, taking his hand in mine. Blake turned to look at me and I shook my head, my request silent but for his mind alone. He nodded and turned to face me, wrapping his arms around me as he hugged me tightly.
“I’m sorry, baby girl” he whispered, kissing the crown of my head. I tightened my arms around him, hugging him back before pulling away to look him in the eye. He smiled and ran his finger over my jawline. Crystal climbed his back, getting on his shoulder before she got on top of mine.
“Can I see my siblings before leaving? Or do you not want them to remember the fact that they had a sister?” I asked. Mum’s eyes dropped to the ground before she shook her head. My own heart broke at her response, but I made no attempt in responding back. Blake’s eyes met mine and I shook my head, not wanting him to respond to that. He nodded and pulled me toward the door, knowing that there was no use of fighting back. We both stood in front of the living room’s door, and Blake sighed, taking a step back.
“Your kids are coming down, if you don’t want them seeing Natalia, I do suggest that you find a way to get them up to their bedroom before they see her” Blake said, not looking at my parents. Mum’s eyes widened and she rushed toward the door, leaving the living room as I heard my siblings bickering as they fought about who would hug mum first.
I wiped the tears that fell from my eyes before Blake caught sight of them. He kissed my temple, his arm tightening around me as he stopped me from approaching them. He pulled me toward the door once he was sure that they were back in their bedrooms.
The two of us walked out of the house, and for the first time, I couldn’t help but feel a clench in my chest that tightened with each step I took away from the house that I grew up in. Around the people that I called family. My heart felt empty, and my soul broke, but I knew that it was for the best interest of them all.
Me being around them would have brought nothing but danger to the house.
It was what they told me.
What I grew up hearing.
And regardless of how many times I tried understanding their reasons, tried to protect them, tried to hide myself even from my own self; I came to realize that I couldn’t. My fate was to stay away from them, why? Because even they didn’t want me.
It was something that I saw in their eyes today. The hate, the pain, and the anger, expressions that I grew up living through. Everything inside me shattered when I saw myself living through them again, and I knew that there was no going back from that now.
Not today.
Not tomorrow.
And never in a hundred years would I ever be able to forget what I have lived through today.
Blake stayed quiet, allowing me to process my pain, but I knew that even he had thousands of questions in his mind. Questions that he wanted to ask, but I was thankful that he stayed out of my head, or at least, he didn’t mention that he was reading through my mind. I wasn’t reading through his in fear of what I was to see.
My anxiety.
My pain.
And my fears consumed me with each step we took toward our car which was parked at the head of the street so as not to have my siblings see it. Blake wrapped his arms around me the second we reached the car, hugging me tightly, breathing in my scent as he fought to comfort me.
He pulled away to look me in the eye, his eyes filled with both pain and love. His hands stayed on my shoulders as he held me close, running gently, squeezing them in assurance “I love you, Natalia…”
His voice was above a whisper as he spoke, for my ears to hear “no matter what everything was about in there, and no matter how much pain you are feeling; I want you to know that I will forever and always love you, okay?”
My heart skipped a beat as I heard the words leave his mouth, and wrapped my arms around him; I hugged him tightly as I allowed the sobs that I was blocking to leave my mouth.
For the first time in my life, everything that I’ve lived through.
All the pain that I fought to get out of.
Everything that I stood strong to fight against seemed to weigh down on me, and for the first time, I broke down completely…
