Arranged To The Alpha -
Chapter 34
Blake:
I stared at my wife who lay on bed without saying a word.
I knew that her mind was racing with a number of thoughts that broke both her and I.
I walked to her side, sitting on the edge of the bed. I ran my finger over her shoulder, removing her hair from her shoulder and face, looking her in the eye. Natalia kept her eyes closed as she stopped her tears from falling, not wanting me to see her cry.
“Nat, baby girl, you can’t block everything in” I whispered to her. Natalia hugged the blanket, pulling it over her face, hiding from me. I bit my bottom l*p, slowly pulling the blanket from her face. I wrapped my arm around her, pulling me to my chest. A sob broke from her lips as she curled in my arms, my heart aching at the sight of her being in this state.
“I’m tired, Blake, I can’t…”
“Shhh, baby girl” I whispered to her, stopping her. Crystal curled up on a pillow on the couch, not making a sound as she watched her. I kissed Natalia’s temple, cradling her in my arms as she shook.
“I’m scared, Blake. I don’t know who I am, I find myself being alone…”
“Now, now, baby” I whispered, stopping her from dwelling in her pain. It wasn’t that I didn’t want her opening up, I just didn’t want her getting lost in whatever thoughts she was getting into “you have lived away from them throughout all this time, babe, and you have never known anything about them. I am never going to leave you, and you are never going to be alone, okay?”
I turned her around to hover her body, looking her in the eye as I ran my finger over her jawline “them being around, them being away, what they said, and what they didn’t; I don’t want any of the things breaking you or your beautiful spirit. The most important thing now is that you know who you are and have a way to control your powers, whatever happens next would just be an addition, okay?”
“I just don’t want you looking at me differently” she said sadly. I leaned down, kissing her forehead, letting my lips linger there for a few seconds before pulling away to look her in the eye. It killed me to see her pain in her eyes, and it killed me to know that she was trying to block it away from me despite me being her mate. However, I also knew that whether or not I tried convincing her otherwise; the people who kicked her out were her family, and I couldn’t blame her for feeling the way she was or for breaking the way she was either.
“I will never, in a million years, look at you differently because of them. If anything, baby girl, I couldn’t help but fall deeper in love with you after what I saw. I looked at a beautiful woman, standing as tough and strong as a mountain, not talking back at her parents despite their insults, if you think for a second that I didn’t respect that; you are very wrong, my beauty” I whispered to her. Natalia wrapped her arm around me, pulling me down to lay on her chest. I smiled and turned us around, laying on my back and holding her to my chest “get some rest for now, princess. We will figure everything out when you’re better, okay?”
*******************************
“What are you two doing?” I asked Natalia and Crystal as they stood in the garden. I went out to the garden to see if I could meet up with Ryan, but I was surprised to find that my beauty was outside.
“We found a certain beta lurking around the pack grounds and figured to keep the pack members away from the area as we trained” she said, wrapping her arms around me “the pack members are inside and would stay in for a while; you can talk to him in private, but I’m sure that it won’t be for long. You know how impatient they tend to be when they want to go out”
Natalia teased, smiling at me. I wrapped my arms around my beauty’s waist, smiling when she wrapped hers around my neck, hugging me back. She seemed to be a lot better than she was yesterday, but I could tell that she was still upset after what happened.
“Alright, love, just try to get something to eat” I said gently “you haven’t eaten anything at breakfast, and if I was quiet about it; it was because I knew that you were upset”
“Alright, love” she smiled, kissing my jawline. I looked at Crystal, nodding before taking a step toward the forest. I frowned in confusion, seeing Ryan standing there, his back faced me as he stared into space.
“Ryan?”
He turned to face me, his eyes meeting mine, and I frowned in confusion when I saw that he wouldn’t say a word to speak “what happened, Ryan? You disappeared…”
“I can’t do it, Alpha” he said, looking down at his feet.
“What?” I frowned in confusion at his statement. He bared his canines, his eyes darkening before he shifted, wanting to attack me. I growled and moved back, forcing myself to stay in my human form so as not to hurt him when I wasn’t even sure what was going on. I could hear Natalia running toward the forest upon hearing my growl, most probably feeling my anger.
I wrapped my arm around her, stopping her from approaching me as the two of us stared at the man, well, more specifically, the wolf “Blake?”
“I don’t even know” I said “Ryan, shift back to human, explain to me what the f**k is going on”
I let out a low growl, warning him, an Alpha’s warning, one that I knew that he wouldn’t be rejecting; unless of course, he was suddenly rogue. My eyes widened in surprise when he wouldn’t shift, and instead, he attacked both Natalia and I. I pushed my wife back before shifting, pinning him down to the ground. His eyes met mine and he fought as he tried getting me off him.
I growled in warning, not wanting to hurt and lose another beta. I wasn’t even over losing Mason and I knew that I couldn’t afford losing another beta, my best friend, and my partner. If I trusted anyone in this world, it was Ryan, and I knew that I couldn’t end up losing him.
Not taking the warning, my eyes widened in surprise when he flipped us around, wanting to bite my neck. I pushed him off me, forcing his body to hit the ground. I went to attack him only for Crystal to pin him on the ground, her size four times my own as she growled down at him, her nose flaring as fire threatened to get out of her mouth to burn the man.
Ryan shifted back to human, his wolf fearing the dragon’s reaction. Natalia looked at me, and I shook my head, not wanting her dragon to burn my friend down. I had to understand what happened, and to do so, the man had to be alive.
“Crystal, down girl” Natalia said, stroking her dragon’s head, looking down at Ryan. She kneeled down on one knee and stared down at him “you should be thankful that he stopped me from burning you to ashes. Therefore, tone the attitude down, and explain”
Ryan spat on Natalia, not answering her, and my beauty nodded. She looked at me as I shifted back to human, and picked up a pair of shorts that I usually kept in the bushes, putting them on as I kneeled down to look at my previous beta.
“You should really know how much I love you, any other man would have lost his life for looking at my wife wrong rather than spitting on her” I said, wrapping my hand around the man’s neck, choking him. His eyes widened as he fought to catch his breath, but I wasn’t going to kill him, not yet anyway.
I unwrapped my hand from around his neck, raising him to stand. The man’s hands shook as he tried to run away, but grabbing his arm, I forced him to stop his track, pulling him to look at me “what the f**k happened, Ryan?”
“You are no longer my Alpha, do you understand me?” He asked, glaring daggers at me “and therefore, I will either die, or kill you before you get an answer out of me”
I bit my bottom l*p, fighting back my growl before grabbing his head, and hitting it against a tree. His eyes rolled to the back of his head, as his b***d covered the tree’s log behind him. I looked at Natalia whose eyes were fixed on me, fire forming on her fingers as she waited to react if needed.
“Go inside, Natalia and please call Damon to come out here” I said, looking at Ryan. My heart ached as I processed what he said earlier.
“Blake…”
“Please, Natalia” I said, stopping my beauty. Her eyes were fixed on me for a second, her heart clearly aching at the fact that I didn’t want her around me, but seeing as I was losing yet another beta, another man who I grew up with, a man I called family, I couldn’t find myself trying to find an excuse to my attitude.
Natalia waited for a few seconds, waiting for me to decide against asking her to go inside. However, seeing as she went inside, I was now well aware that she got inside my head to know that I wasn’t in the mood to argue.
I’m sorry, baby girl.
