Arranged To The Alpha -
Chapter 35
Natalia:
“He’s been hexed” Crystal, my dragon said, looking at me. I frowned in confusion, her eyes meeting my own before I looked at where Blake went, carrying Ryan with the other wolves “we need to stop Blake before he kills him”
“How the bloody hell do you know that?” I asked, looking at her. I walked toward the house, my heart racing as I worried that Blake might end up forced to kill him if needed. She shrank in size, getting on my shoulder, nodding at me to go.
“I am a dragon, Natalia, and you seem to be forgetting that. One of my traits is that I can smell dark magic a mile away, and that man has been hexed, and he believes that Blake is his enemy” I pinched the bridge of my nose. Heading toward the operation room where Ryan was being kept. Blake’s eyes were fixed on him, and for a second, I believed that he wasn’t aware of my presence.
I went to open the door, wanting to go inside only to frown when he growled in warning, clearly wanting me to stop. However, I wasn’t going to let him do something that he would regret. Mason was bad enough, and knowing that he was yet to be over that, I didn’t want him dealing with another loss that he can’t handle.
I opened the door, ignoring his growl, and turning around to face me, I saw a glare that I had forgotten seeing on his face. His eyes met mine and I couldn’t help but shy back for a second before gathering my strength once again to talk.
“He’s been hexed, Blake, he isn’t acting like himself” I said, looking my mate in the eye. He frowned in confusion, processing my words before nodding at the two nurses who were working on helping him calm down. He walked toward me, wrapping his hand around my arm as he pulled me to the door, his eyes glaring daggers at me as he did.
“What the f**k are you talking about?” He asked. I pulled my hand from his grip, and despite knowing that it wasn’t tight, he was simply making me get out of the room, I didn’t like that he believed that he could do so; however, I wasn’t going to press on him now when he had his mate’s life to worry about.
“Your beta has been hexed. Whatever spell has been cast on him, it is a dark one, and he sees you as his enemy; that is why he is acting the way that he is” Crystal said, noticing my tensed figure. I looked at her, silently thanking her, and I didn’t need to wait for her response to know that she would do it again if she had to.
“How are we going to get him out of this?” He asked, looking at her. I looked down at my feet, avoiding my husband’ eyes, knowing that he was mostly ignoring me.
“We need to find out who put the spell on him, and despite you probably having a hunch, I would assume that you need to reach the witch or warlock in charge. Your twin brother would not be able to fulfill this on his own, unless he has magic in his b***d” Crystal said, making me frown in confusion “the two of us are one person, I have access to your head and you have access to mine. You just choose to be respectful enough not to use that access, while I, well, let’s just say that I’m not as decent”
“Stay out of my head, Crystal” I said, glaring at the dragon before turning to look at my mate who nodded.
“Natalia, you and Crystal go to the bedroom, try and find something, and let me know if you do. I don’t want you to be here with what is happening, do you understand me?” He asked. I looked at him, studying his expression for a while before nodding, knowing that arguing with him right now would get me nowhere, and seeing how submissive I got, he sighed and took a step toward me, extending his hand for me. I took a step back, avoiding his touch. I knew that he was worried, and that what happened was stressing him out, but I couldn’t allow him to disrespect me when he pleased, regardless of the situation.
*************************************
The bedroom’s door was knocked twice before Blake opened it, entering the room.
The mating bond between us let me know of his arrival.
I didn’t bother turning to face him as I looked out the window where Crystal flew out a while ago, leaving me alone in the room.
Blake wrapped his arms around me from the back, hugging me tightly, running his finger over my stomach. I looked back at him, but didn’t bother talking, waiting for what he had to tell me “I’m sorry for hurting your feelings earlier today”
“Really?” I asked, glaring at him. He chuckled, turning me around to face him, making me look him in the eye as he cupped my cheeks.
“Yes, sweetheart, really” he said, leaning in to k**s my forehead. I couldn’t help but feel my heart skipping a beat, and despite wanting to stay angry with him for a few minutes longer, I couldn’t bring myself to do so “I know that I was rude, and it’s not your fault. I just didn’t want you in the same room with him when I didn’t know what the issue was”
“I understand that, Blake, but don’t you think that as your wife, I am supposed to be by your side. You know, to both support you, encourage you, and be there for you. The two of us have been through a lot already, and yet, I still find you doubting me” I said, looking down at his chest. He sighed and nodded, pulling me in for a hug.
“Believe it or not, you are the one person that I have never doubted, Nat. Yes, I do get angry with you and I want to keep you safe, but I’m not stupid enough as not to know that you can easily fight your own battles and that you can easily kill anyone who dares approach you if you wanted to. It’s just my Alpha instincts tend to grow a little stronger when the matter concerns you, and you know, with everything going on lately, I can’t risk losing you for any reason” he said, running his finger over my jawline. I took his hand in mine, gently kissing his palm “you are the one person who I know won’t try to break me, Natalia. I have been around so many people, but after Myla, never in my life did I think that I would be able to smile again…”
The fact that he compared me to his late mate made my heart drop to my stomach as I felt somewhat threatened, and though I knew that he could easily read my mind, I kept a calm face, not wanting to alarm him “you made me the man that I am today, Natalia, and I can never thank you enough for that. Yes, our marriage did not start like those fairytale weddings that you would have wanted, and the life that we’re living may not be the best, but I f*****g love you so much that I would relive everything again with you”
I smiled, laying my head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me, hugging me tightly “you are my pride, my queen, my Luna, and the love of my life”
His voice was above a whisper as he spoke, his hand still wrapped around me before his lips touched the crown of my head, and allowing them to linger there for a few seconds, I allowed myself to relax in his arms.
The two of us pulled away to look one another in the eye, and despite knowing that Blake most probably read my mind; he stayed quiet as he ran his finger over my cheek, gently pulling me in for a k**s that made me smile. My heart ached, I had to admit that, but the woman was his first mate, and despite knowing that I would never fill her void, I knew that I would at least be there for him.
Through thick and thin, I would fight for you, Alpha Blake…
I give you my word, my love…
