Arielle's

POV

"I know you three must hate me for how I've wanted you to handle Arielle but it's time I tell you the truth about why I want nothing good to come her way as long as I live."

"It was a little over two decades ago when I first met your mother and it didn't take long for us to develop feelings for one another while we were together in high school, and our relationship continued even as we went on to college before I eventually summoned the courage to ask her out a year before our graduation and she accepted. A few years later, I claimed her to be my mate just before she got pregnant with the three of you. But from the beginning of time, it wasn't just your mother and I that were inseparable. We had a third friend that completed our trio, Arielle's father. We did everything together and even though he was a commoner, he was always allowed up here because of how close we had been.

But that has been my biggest regret, bringing him into my home. I didn't know when it started and how I managed to miss it but I did and before I found out it was too late. Your mother had been having an affair with Arielle's father behind my back for a long time, I didn't bother to ask how long. I didn't want to hurt myself deeply but I knew it had been going on for a long time."

My eyes widened at this point as I heard Xavier Van Tyson reveal the truth about why he hated me so much. I always thought my parents had been happy and in love but was that an illusion as well? Did Mother truly know the truth about Father's affair with the Luna of our pack and she decided to forgive him and stay with him?

I didn't want to believe what I heard at first, it would be condescending of me to believe the first terrible news I was hearing about my father but I remembered my father once telling me about his best friends from high school through to college before they had to part ways due to some unforgiving circumstances on everyone's part and now hearing Xavier say this, it wasn't difficult to piece together the pieces of the story. I didn't want to believe it but deep down, I already knew Xavier was telling the truth. "She didn't deserve any of this. She's not her father and there's no reason why she should pay for his sins."

I continued to listen in, it was Loki speaking this time. It felt weird hearing him trying to defend me after everything but I understood the bad spot they had been placed in without their consent.

"When I feel wronged by someone, I take my revenge on everyone affiliated with the person. It serves as a reminder to the rest of the community not to cross paths with me if they want to remain safe and most importantly, alive." "What did you do?"

"I swore to have my revenge but at a time when no one would ever suspect it of happening and so I waited for over a decade, I waited for the perfect moment and finally the window opened and an opportunity presented itself. A small rift between two rival factions erupted with Jacob, Arielle's father leading one of them while a longtime aide of mine was in charge of the other. Unknown to Jacob, the faction was nipping at his guards on my command in a bid to draw him out into battle and he eventually took the bait one day and the rest was history. I had my revenge, Jacob was dead and his wife was dead as well. There was no sign of his daughter and no one bothered to look for a 15-year-old girl who wouldn't survive there on her own but Arielle had surpassed all our expectations and she survived. She made her way into your school by some sort of miracle and out of all the girls you three could've chosen to be your mate, you settled for Arielle, the daughter of the man that betrayed me. The same child I had taken an oath to destroy her life from birth."

"You got your wish now father. We've decided to banish her, we took the decision a couple of days ago and she has until sunset to leave the pack for good and never return."

"What then happens to your son? Does he go with the mother or does he remain here, true to the blood flowing in his veins?"

"We've decided that he will remain here. He's our firstborn son and our heir as well. Only his mother deserves to be punished and not him."

"I haven't seen your son yet."

"We'll bring him to you when everything is settled."

"What do you mean?"

"We weren't crowned as your successors due to Arielle's display and it's been three days and nothing has been said about it. We're starting to get worried."

"You three had a golden opportunity and you messed up. There's a council meeting tomorrow and only then will I know your fate. There's nothing else I can do for you as a father anymore, I gave you my all but I got disappointed in return." "Father-"

"You don't need to say anything else. I'm done speaking to you all. I'll see you tomorrow at court, this meeting is dismissed."

I ran as fast and silently as I could away from the door before any of them could walk out of the room. As soon as I rounded the corner, I slowed down for fear of someone noticing my uneasiness.

I continued to look over my shoulder until I got into my room and slammed the door shut, sliding my back against the door as I hit the ground

My heart was jackknifing against my chest as I replayed everything I had heard. For over a year, I repeatedly blamed Loki, Sebastian, and Elijah for everything I had been through. I believed that they masterminded my downfall and everything else that had happened to me since I was banished the first time but now, I knew better. Their own father used them as puppets, as a means to an end, and nothing more than that.

If anything, they were victims of the same fate that I had been subjected to.

Their father's quest for revenge was just as blinding and deadly as mine. We didn't care what we burned in the process as long as we got what we wanted.

In the quest for my revenge, I ended up losing Ethan, my new pack, and my son. In Xavier's quest, his sons would end up losing the throne as a result of what he did.

He would've succeeded in ruining my life but at what cost?

I regretted everything I did now. From the quest to ruining their chances of succeeding their father and becoming better Alphas than he ever was. I didn't know if what I did was going to be fixed or reversed but if they were going to give it a try, I had to help out. We were in this whole mess together and it would be the only way to set each of us free in some sort of way.

But first, I had to get them to reverse their banishment before the sun sets. If they wanted to do this, they needed more hands and I was willing to help out. The only way I would manage to convince them would be if I revealed everything I heard through the door, that was the only way they would believe me and if that was what it would take, I was willing to pay the price ten times over.

One thing I knew for certain was, Xavier Van Tyson had to pay for his sins. He single-handedly masterminded the death of my parents, which set me spiraling into despair and when I thought I had found an anchor to hold on to, on two different occasions, I ended up sinking yet again all because of him.

I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. I was done crying, it was time to get into action. I only had a few hours left before it would be the deadline I was given would be upon me. I scrambled to my feet before making my way out of my room.

Xavier was going to pay for his crimes against my family. I didn't have a plan yet on how I was going to take him down but I was blind with revenge. But before I could do any of this, I had to reach a compromise with Loki and his brothers. That was going to be the most difficult part of this process because how am I going to convince the three of them that I want them to become Alphas after ruining their chances in the first place?
