Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again -
Chapter 0061
Chapter 0061
Caroline's POV:
I woke up with a pounding headache and pains littering my arms and legs. Opening my bleary eyes, I myself trapped in a dark room, forced upright in a chair. I tried to groan in pain, only to realize that my mouth was duct taped shut.
Panic overwhelmed me and I attempted to get the tape off of my face, only to find that my hands were tied behind the chair painfully tight, unable to move. I tried to get out of my binds, but the knot was firm, and the only thing was accomplishing was giving myself rope burn.
I screamed into the tape, trying to get the attention of any passerby I could, but after twenty minutes, my throat gave out and I knew it was pointless. I was no doubt in some secure location, locked away from the rest of humanity
My heart stopped when the door knob rattled and heavy footsteps entered the room. The perpetrator flicked on a lightswitch, activating a lamp dangling just above me. The light revealed that I was in what seemed to be a small storage area, barely the size of a walk-in closet.
My eyes struggled to adjust to the light as I looked up to see an imposing beast of a man standing in the doorway. He had a head of shaggy brown hair and piercing blue eyes that sent shock of fear running down my spine. Who was he? From the stark black gloves he wore and the pocket knife hanging clearly from his front pocket, I knew he wasn't here to help me.
The man gave me a sick smile as he sauntered over to me. "Hey there, honey," he chuckled, his gaze taunting. "Looks like today's not your lucky day. Someone put a hit out on your life."
My eyes widened and a shriek of terror left my taped mouth. Someone was trying to kill me? But who? Was it Sophia? I couldn't even process anything that he was saying, for blood was pumping too loudly in my ears.
I tried to plead for him to free me, but the duct tape only allowed for muffled sounds. The man rolled his eyes in annoyance and grabbed my hair with a hard yank to shut me up, drawing a muffled cry out of me. "You're lucky I'm being merciful," he scowled before ripping the tape clean off of my face. I cried out in pain, and he once again yanked my hair to silence me.
"Got any last words, girlie?" he chuckled.
I paled at the finality of his words. I was really about to die, wasn't I? I couldn't die, not now! There was still so much I needed to live for! If I was gone, who was going to save my father?
"Who hired you?" I demanded, hoping that he would let his guard down since I was already going to die by his hand. If this truly was my last day, I at least wanted answers
"I don't know, honey," he said with a careless shrug. When I gave him a scathingly doubtful look, he just chuckled. "Really, I don't know his name, babe. All that matters is that he paid me

to take you out. I just know he's doing it for his girlfriend."

Before I could even process the flood of implications, he let out a small "oh!", as though he remembered something. That's when I saw him flick out the wicked blade of his massive pocket knife. I screamed in fright, but he slapped a hand over my mouth before it could properly leave my lips.
"Before you die, there's one last thing I need to do." He studied my face with a sinister grin, watching as tears began to leak from my eyes and slide down his cheeks. "The boss wanted me to disfigure this pretty little face of yours," he chuckled. "A special request from his girlfriend. It seems she hates your face the most."
It was Sophia who had done this to me! That cruel woman wanted me to die, and she was going to maim my face in this one last act of spite.
"No, please!" I begged, desperately fighting back, but the painful grip on my face was too strong. He just hushed me and pressed the cool metal of the blade against my skin, where I could feel the bite of the sharp edge digging into my flesh. Realizing that this was my end, I shut my eyes tightly, waiting with terror for the pain to start.
Just before the cold blade could press down and pierce my skin, the door slammed open. There was the deafening blast of a gunshot, and my would-be killer let out a shout of pain. The knife clattered to the floor and suddenly the painful grip on my face was gone. That's when a very familiar.voice rang out through the air.
"Caroline!"
