Caroline's POV:

My eyes carefully observed the CCTV footage, scrutinizing every second with careful eyes. With George left in Gerald's hands, it left me enough time to search for evidence of Sandra's crime.

If this was all a nefarious trap set up by Sophia to get me in trouble with William, then that meant that the powder had to have been tampered with between the time I'd first arrived and before I woke up with George.

So, I quickly scrubbed through the overnight footage, fastforwarding until I found the fatal moment that Sandra came on screen. There was plenty of useless footage in between, and my patience was quickly wearing thin. In the end, however, all my diligent searching bore fruit.

At one o'clock in the morning on the dot, the blurry image of the nanny appeared, creeping in through the backdoor in a sneaky way.

Pausing the screen and peering closer, I was startled to see that she was holding an object that looked suspiciously similar in size to the tin of milk powder that had been found in the cabinet.

Unfortunately, it was wrapped in a cloth, making it difficult to identify and not substantial evidence to sway William's opinion. I was denied permission to see the inside footage, and I was sure that if I asked William, it would arouse his suspicions. I had to patiently wait for her next move.

Thankfully, it didn't take too long, because soon enough she appeared back on screen, curiously heading to the garden of all places. When I checked the garden CCTV footage, to my confusion, she had taken a shovel and started burying something.

I wasted no time in heading out to the garden to solve this mystery for myself. Taking up a shovel, I scrutinized the ground to see if any patches looked different. I spotted a patch of soil that was noticeably fresher and looser than the rest of the neatly packed dirt. Refusing to hesitate for even a second, I thrust my shovel in and it instantly collided with something solid. I hurriedly dug the object up, and there it was: the normal milk powder tin.

Picking it up and dusting off all the dirt and grime, I kept it tucked close to me. I needed to show William what I'd found once he came home. He couldn't be so ignorant as to brush off cold hard evidence of his son's poisoning.

Just as I was about to head inside, I nearly collided with the butler. Gerald gently took my arm to keep me from falling over when I stumbled, giving me an amused look. "Miss Caroline! Have you found your bracelet yet?"

It took a moment for me to register that I still had a ruse to keep up. If William knew I was using the CCTV footage to spy on his workers, he would be too furious to hear me out.

"Ah, yes, I found it. Thank you for all

your help Clearing my throat, I awkwardly replied. I glanced down and noticed a pair of car keys in his hand. "Oh, you're leaving already? Where are you going?"

"I'm on my way to help Mr. William with Sandra," he informed me. As it turns out, she was stabbed in the arm on her way back to the villa."

"Stabbed? How could it be?" My brow popped up in surprise. Who would want to stab a nanny?

"Yes, and from what I hear, she's having a rough time of things," Gerald responded with a nod. "As her employer, Mr. William must take some responsibility, since she was hurt on the job."

For a brief moment, my heart went out to Sandra, who was only trying to get money for her dying husband However she'd also harmed George, and that was unforgivable. Overall, I was heavily conflicted on how to feet, only knowing I was glad that George was safe.

Wait, where was George?

"Wait, who's taking care of George then?" I inquired.

"Ah, good question," the butler chirped, looking thankful he'd been reminded of such an important factor. "The new nanny is here and looking after George right now."

The world fell silent around me. "New nanny?" I croaked.

Gerald cracked a fond smile. "Yes,

she was recommended by Sandra. She's so nice to already have someone able to take care of George. Apparently it's a friend of hers. You should meet her; quite charming young lady that one is.

Anyhow, I'll see you around."

I stared blankly at Gerald as he turned around and strolled leisurely to his car. Did he just say Sandra recommended the new nanny? A feeling of dread overcame me at that moment. That meant that— George!Forgetting the milk powder tin on the ground, I dashed inside and sprinted up the stairs to George's room. He was in danger!
