Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1383
When she saw him, Rachel nearly didn’t recognize him.
“Prepare and bring in two cups of coffee.” Rachel turned to her assistant and gave instructions.
The assistant gave a little nod, turned around, and then exited the office.
She shut the door, leaving only the two of them.
Rachel got up from her seat, went over to the couch, and sat down.
“Ivan, why have you come to see me?”
Ivan and she had never spoken privately.
Even if he did come to visit her, all he did was carry out Victor’s instructions when he did so.
Now, though, Ivan didn’t seem to have been instructed to come to her, at least based on the scowl on his face.
She was not one to beat around the bush and instead asked it flat out.
“Please, Miss Bennet… Mr.
Sullivan needs you.” After some hesitation, Ivan bowed his head and begged.
Rachel was taken aback for a second before she laughed and said,
“Ivan, did that come out wrong?”
“Miss Bennet…”
“Really, you want me to assist Victor? Tell me, what can I do to help him?” Rachel’s glare was directed squarely at him as she rolled her eyes.
“Even if he does need assistance, I’m the wrong person to approach.
There’s nothing I can do.”
After hearing Rachel’s reply, Ivan was totally thrown off.
The assistant came in with the freshly brewed coffee at this time and rapped on the door.
As she realized something was amiss, she stopped.
As one would expect, Rachel was not interested in lingering over this issue.
She said, “My assistant prepared some coffee, and I must say,
Ivan, it smells wonderful.
This day is really frigid.
Before you depart, have a cup of coffee and warm up.”
It was quite apparent what she meant.
It was time for him to go.
Her capacity to aid Victor was secondary to his actual need for assistance.
Ivan glanced over at the assistant who was standing nearby and opened his mouth to say something, but he was silenced by the assistant’s presence.
He was barely able to relax and drink two sips of coffee.
To the assistant, Rachel cast an eye.
When the assistant understood the look, she exited the office once again.
“Miss Bennet, you see… Mr.
Sullivan…” Ivan could no longer hold back his words as he saw her assistant left.
An incoming call cut him off before he could finish speaking.
The call came in on Rachel’s phone.
Ivan glanced at the screen briefly and saw Roger’s name pop up as the caller ID.
The light in Ivan’s eyes dimmed.
