Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 147
The three brothers stood still like a monument, a statue carved up from clay and set aside on display in a gallery for viewing pleasure. They had heard strange things tonight. Things that they never believed to be true. Things that they never believed could ever happen? It felt like they were in a trance. If they didn't know any better, they would've concluded that they were in a movie but they weren't. This is reality, their life and one they never anticipated.
"I don't believe her." Quincy spoke from the corner where he stood, breaking the silence that engulfed them. He was always the one to joke around, to mess with his brothers and play pranks on them but tonight, he was terrified. Frightened of what the so called future held for him. No one ever prepared him for this day and it's sad because now, he most definitely didn't know how to react to the news that Gaia had dropped on them.
"Why are you all so quiet?" He asked his brothers who had been silent ever since they received the news. "Don't tell me that you believe everything that woman just said to us. She's obviously lying. Didn't you see her dress? She doesn't look like someone who could be telling the truth. For all we know, she could be lying."
Asher blinked furiously. He was distraught. He glanced at Levi briefly to see his reaction and as expected, even Levi was shocked as well. Asher had thought that maybe he knew about this from the onset but seeing him now, he was beginning to doubt that. Levi was always the one who tried to stop them from going after Amery. Why would he do that if he didn't know about this?
"There's no way that father and mother would've kept something like this from us." He rambled on. "It's one thing to live with the fact that I would die if Amery picked either of you and it's another thing to find out that we weren't even supposed to be born in the first place and it was all a mistake on mother's part because she defiled death. What does that information have to do with me?"
"For once Quincy, could you at least use your head instead of your mouth!?" Asher groaned angrily at him. "We don't know what to believe in yet and you're not making it any easier for us."
"Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Hot shot. In case you've forgotten, I wasn't the one who dragged us Into this mess so don't try to shift your aggressions towards me." He shot back. "If you both hadn't tried to send Amery to her early grave, we wouldn't be here by now. I wouldn't be here by now."
"Enough!" Levi breathed tiredly. "Both of you please, enough already."
"Were you aware of this?" Asher shot him a knowing look. "Ever since mom was alive, you were always beside her death bed like a lost puppy deprived of attention. You stuck to her more than any of us so it's only natural that you knew about this."
Levi scoffed. "What makes you think that I'm aware of it? Because I was more humane and stood by her during her dying days doesn't automatically mean that I knew the answers to all questions."
"I know you better than anyone Levi. You're my brother so what do you have to lose in this?" Asher questioned while Quincy looked on wondering why he was always caught in the middle of their arguments.
"And apart from that, you were the firstborn and father's favourite son. If you weren't aware like you claim then why did you try to kill Amery?" Asher accused. "Isn't there a reason why you've constantly tried to end her life so neither of us could get her?"
Levi stormed towards him in anger and stopped a few feet away from him. "The only reason I did what I did was to save you all from yourselves. We were all going to die if either of us had claimed her! I was trying to protect you both." He spat enraged but his blatant irritation didn't move Asher one bit.
"Really?" Asher asked with a smug expression on his face. "Is that why you f****d her twice? How is f*****g her behind our backs going to protect us? What were you trying to save us from by doing what you did?" When Levi didn't respond, he only continued. "Oh come on Levi. That was your doing. You were well aware of everything that was happening and only did what you did to kill us both!"
Levi lifted his hands to hit Asher but Quincy stepped in just in time, separating them before it escalated. They both glared daggers at each other, their chest rising and falling rapidly as they tried to let off steam.
"You're not kids and fighting right now isn't going to rewrite our destiny neither is it going to find Amery." He admonished them. "You heard what Gaia said. We are weighing on Amery's destiny and if we don't stop, it's only going to get worse." "Right now, we need to focus our energy on finding her. That should be our top priority before anyone gets involved in this." He added, hoping to at least get through to his brothers.
"Quincy is right." Levi chimed in support of Quincy's speech. "Amery might be in grave danger and we're the only ones who know about this and how to find her so let's put our differences aside and work together, at least until we find her. Please." Asher looked from Levi to Quincy. He was still upset about Levi but he knew that he was telling the truth. Fighting won't bring back Amery. He'd drop this argument and pick it up later. What matters at this point is Amery.
"Fine." He said through gritted teeth.
"Quincy." Levi turned to face him. "This mountain is big and we can't cover it and ourselves. I want you to go back home and inform Declan to mobilize other people to help us. Meet us here afterwards. Asher and I will head back to camp. Maybe someone might've heard or seen something."
Quincy nodded and sprinted Into the woods.
"You still want to go back to camp?" Asher asked the minute Quincy left.
"It's still a school trip and if we stay out for long, they'll suspect that we might have something to do with her disappearance. Plus, your fake girlfriend is onto you and she might rat us out so we don't have a choice here." Levi brushed him, leaving Asher to follow. "I really hope that you know nothing about what that hag said, Levi," Asher warned, forcing Levi's step to falter. "I want to believe that you are just as clueless as the rest of us because if I find out that you knew about this, I'd kill you myself." He proclaimed before walking away.
They arrived at camp and were surprised to see that the teachers had called on the authorities as well and everyone was trying to make a statement to link to Amery's disappearance. This wasn't looking good at all.
"Asher, Levi?" The teacher beckoned to them as soon as he spotted them walking into the camp grounds. He left the policemen and started towards them. "Did you find anything? Any luck or clue?"
"Nothing at all sir," Levi answered. "We searched everywhere we could but there's no sign of her. This mountain is too big and she could be anywhere." And he meant that literally.
"I'm trying to reach out to her parents to give them a heads up on their daughter's disappearance but I can't get through to them. Hopefully, we're able to find her before then but don't stop searching." He ordered before walking away. "This isn't going as planned," Asher spoke up. "If Amery's parents are involved in this then it's only going to make matters worse."
"It won't come to that. We'd find her before then, hopefully." Levi whispered almost feeling breathless.
"Now I'm convinced that you're hiding her somewhere." The sudden and irritating voice of Natasha sprang through from behind them. "When all of this blows up in your faces, I'm going to add to the fire by letting everyone know that you're all involved. We'll see who the mentally unstable one is between the two of us." She threatened before walking away.
"I feel like strangling her to death." Asher fisted both hands beside her.
"Then we'll have two problems on our hands. Let her be for now. She's not important." Levi consoled his bruised ego as they patiently waited for Quincy to come back with the rest of the people who'd help with their search.
Time flew by slowly. Each second and minute passed felt more and more excruciating than the last but they had no other choice. This was their only shot at finding Amery and saving her. Quincy arrived hours later and they snuck out to meet him but were surprised to find out that he had come alone. There was no one else with him.
"Where's Declan and the rest of them?" Asher proceeded to ask when Levi couldn't find the right words to speak.
"Declan told me that no one would be able to help us find Amery." He broke down the news to them. "But he also said that Amery is our mate and he mentioned something about three being the strength of one. He told me that you would figure it out if I said that to you." He blurted to Levi who looked utterly confused. "What does he mean by three is the strength of one? Does this look like a joke to him?"
"It doesn't." Levi chirped in. "He's right. Three is the strength of one and the key to finding Amery lies with all three of us. We cannot find her individually and we cannot link her thoughts but what if we tried it together?" Levi asked, staring at them as he waited for them to catch on to what he was saying and fast because Amery might not have all the time in the world.
