Dr. Luna -
Chapter 25
fairy too? She had to have been part fairy. Why else was she in the Ashen pack before she met Lilly's father?
Lilly felt like she knew a bit more about herself now, knowing she was half fairy. She had always thought that her mother was a witch. Boy was she wrong! She wondered why her father had never told her about her mother. Was her mother a full fairy or was she part "Ready for the official ceremony? We are having a party tonight to celebrate you becoming our fully fledged Luna." Tyler's voice snapped Lilly's attention on him. They had been sitting at the kitchen bar and chatting with Kade, Cedric, Avery and Caleb. "Ceremony? It's casual right?" Lilly asked not wanting to have to get dressed up again.
"Eh, semi formal." Tyler wrapped his arm around her as he noticed her pouting lips. "You better tuck that lip back in." Tyler spoke lowly he was now staring at her lips, greedily imagining how he had them last night.
She sighed and took in a deep breath of air through her nose. Then she tilted her head to the side and began taking light whiffs in. She smelled... different. She smelled like Tyler, taking on his scent as her mate, but she also smelled of something else. She never had that scent before so where was it coming from?
Tyler chuckled. "What are you doing?"
"I smell funny." Lilly sniffed at herself again trying to learn her new combined scent.
"You smell like me." Tyler beamed proudly.
"I don't smell anything other than Tyler on you." Avery said as she turned her nose in disgust of her cousins' scent.
"Really? You don't smell something... else? Almost... like honey?" Lilly asked with her head tilted.
Cedric raised his nose up for a minute and frowned. He could smell it. Things were going to start getting interesting.
"Yipe." Lilly spun around. She felt a soft tug on her foot. She looked down to see four small fuzzy creatures looking at her. They looked like tiny balls of fluff about the size of a mouse.
"What is it Lilly? What are you looking at?" Tyler glanced down under the table but could not see anything.
Cedric groaned and rubbed his head. This was going to get annoying for a while. He thought as he glanced under the table.
"They are attracted to your scent." Cedric answered in a minor irritation at the little invaders.
Lilly got off of her chair and sat on the ground. She held out her hand and they immediately crawled into it, rubbing on her fingers.
"They can smell it too? What are they?" Lilly giggled as the one crawled up her arm.
Cedric growled and walked over to Lilly, swatting the disrespectful creature off of her shoulder. "They are a pain. That's what they are. They are called Brownies. They are little fairies, and they are here investigating your smell. Only other fairies can smell it." Cedric sighed and rubbed his forehead." Others will be coming too, now that your scent has arrived. This is going to get complicated."
Lilly reached out and picked up the little fairy that Cedric had swatted. "Why is it going to get complicated?" She smiled as she reunited the fairy with the other three.
"Because some fairies are a pain in the a*s. Some are mischievous and pests. And I don't trust them with you." Cedric growled again and the four little brownies, sensing danger, ran away and through the door.
"Will they hurt her?" Tyler reached down and pulled Lilly up to him. He couldn't see what they were seeing but would not tolerate anything that could be harmful to her.
"99% of them won't. But like all species, there are a few bad eggs. Don't worry about them though. They won't be able to get anywhere near her. I'd kill any of them the instant I sensed them." Cedric's face was serious and showed determination. He was not going to let anything happen to Lilly.
"Fairies must be pretty weak then, I mean you are considered middle range in our pack as far as strength goes." Caleb felt at ease hearing this. Fairies were nothing to be concerned about, not if someone as weak as Cedric could take care of them.
Cedric laughed at his ridiculous statement. "Not the case at all I'm afraid. Strengths come in a wide range. My werewolf strength is different than my fairy strength. However, there are a few fairies that would take the strength of the pack to take down and it wouldn't be without casualties. Plus, there are more species involved than just fairies."
"What about the danger you mentioned earlier? Can you elaborate more on it? Is it something you can handle?" Tyler asked the question that had been burning on his mind. He wanted to know more about this threat he had spoken of.
Cedric's face grew serious and taut. "I am not a match for it. Few are. This is something we will talk about soon."
Tyler was not happy with his bland answer, but he figured it had to do with Lilly and her awakening. "So, what about the other fairies? The ones that are not dangerous?"
"The other fairies... they will just be a headache. They tend to get into trouble, whether accidental or intentional. Little pests. Yeah, I think I'm going to get a barrier set up for now to keep out the annoying low levels."
"Aww they were cute." Lilly frowned. She wanted to see more fairies. She was curious about them and wanted to learn more.
"Trust me, it is for the best. It'll only last for a few days, but that will give us the time we need." Cedric started walking towards the door.
"The time we need for what?" Lilly asked curiously. The time they would need to adjust? Cedric had a way of never explaining himself, which was quite annoying.
Cedric turned and grinned. "It will give us time for a guardian to show up. A guardian has a natural aura about him that keeps the lesser nuisance fairies away unless invited. This also makes higher ranking fairies think twice before coming close. A guardian is nothing to mess with. He is a whole other kind of beast."
Tyler looked at Cedric and growled. "Is it dangerous to my pack?" The beast sounded dangerous and he did not want his pack to be exposed to it if that were the case.
Cedric showed Tyler a big toothy grin. "Not really, only if they are a danger to your luna or provoked. We need a guardian here. Lilly is about to awaken. You don't want her waking without the help of a guardian. Cedric then turned and left to go and put up a barrier, a fairy barrier.
If it was for Lilly's benefit, then he would allow for the guardian to come. This would be extra protection for his Luna, though he could not help but feel wary. The guardian was so powerful that it kept other fairies away. There was so much he did not know. He did not know much about fairies, other than they existed. Now he was married to one, well half fairy, who did not know anything about her kind either. This was going to be a learning experience.
"Lilly, you are so amazing! I want to see magical fairy creatures too." Avery crossed her arms and fake pouted. Their Luna really was better than all the other Luna's, she was part fairy. They knew crosses existed, but never knew of one. Here, Cedric was part fairy and they never even knew. It was either rare or kept secret since it seems that fairies like their secrets.
"She certainly is." Tyler beamed and pulled Lilly into his side, as he walked them to the stairs to get ready for the ceremony. He gently caressed her back and couldn't help letting his eyes drift over her. He didn't deserve someone like her. She was incredibly kind and forgiving, but was also strong and capable. Having her by his side made him a better person, though he was incredibly possessive over her and his jealousy was worse than it had ever been.
"Well, I'm just creeped out. I never knew that fairies could be invisible. I can just imagine all the little perverts watching me as I change. I feel violated." Kade held his arms over his chest teasingly.
"Who would look at you unless they wanted a laugh." Caleb chuckled as he stood up to go out on patrol. His main job was pack borders and now it looked like he was going to be extra busy. Tyler had mind linked him about doubling the patrols for the time being. If there was a threat out there, they would know the instant it crossed into their territory.
As Caleb went to open the door, he stopped as a mind link was sent to the top three: Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. There was an accident during pack training. One of the warriors is having trouble healing... It's the new pack member...
"Never a dull moment." Tyler sighed. "Stay here baby, I need to check on one of my warriors."
"What's wrong?" Lilly looked up at him with worry.
"It's nothing. Just a training accident." Tyler kissed her forehead and as he turned to leave, she grabbed his hand.
"Let me grab my bag, give me one second." Lilly race away and returned with her doctor bag.
Tyler nodded at her and grinned. Of course, she would want to come, she was a doctor. "Okay, let's go."
Tyler led them to a large open field where men had gathered in a circle. The men were all wearing just a pair of loose shorts, suitable for sparring. Lilly could see a body laying on the ground and immediately ran to the crowd. When she arrived, she could see the contorted look on the young man's face. He was in a lot of pain. Lilly knelt down beside him and placed her hand on his shoulder to let him know she was there.
She reached her hand up and felt around. She watched as the man grimaced in pain. His shoulder was dislocated so it was a good thing he didn't force a heal without proper placement, but why wasn't he healing. Something was off.
She pulled out her ophthalmoscope from her bag and looked at his eyes. Something was definitely off, and she had a suspicion as to what exactly it was. She felt a flame ignite within her as she continued to check the wolf's vital signs. There were sweat beads forming on his forehead and body. It seemed like everything was in agony. Now, she just had to determine what exactly had happened and how he had gotten into the situation he was in.
