Dr. Luna -
Chapter 55
"WHAT THE HELL, MAN?!" The man laying on the ground reached up and felt the warm liquid oozing from his nose. He looked up to see his other co-worker standing in front of the girls he was trying to pick up.
"Enough already! They aren't interested. Why do you have to keep pushing yourself at them?" The man turned and looked back at Avery and Lilly. "I'm really sorry about him. He is spoiled and isn't used to being told no. Sorry if he made you feel uncomfortable." "He didn't make me feel uncomfortable. He should be happy that you were the one that hit him. I would have broken a bone." Lilly smiled sweetly causing the protector to laugh.
"I'm sure you would have." He winked at her. Obviously not taking the tiny looking girl seriously. He walked up to his co-worker on the floor and lifted him up. "We still have work. Let's go."
Lilly and Avery watched the two men walk away. Lilly shrugged it off. No harm done. She was bummed she didn't get to injure the man... wow she had a thirst for blood. She turned and looked at Avery. Her bright eyes seemed a bit dull and there was a small frown on her lips.
"Ave... you okay? You're not going to let a goon like that bother you, are you?" Lilly nudged towards Avery who gave her a weak smile in return.
"I've been with Caleb... for so long. I never had to deal with the advancement of other men. His was just creepy. At first, I thought I liked having other men's attention... I don't. I don't like it at all. In fact, I feel dirty. The way he was looking at me, like I was a piece of meat. And then..." Avery looked at Lilly with round eyes that glistened with water. "He whispered next to me that he would be seeing me later. It was creepy."
"Avery. You are a strong tough werewolf. Don't let him rattle you. I understand that feeling though... the feeling of feeling dirty... yeah I understand that all too well." Lilly rubbed her neck as she remembered the night of the banquet. "Don't worry Avery. I'm here and me and Kira have no problems fighting... though he wouldn't even be a fight."
Avery and Lilly sat at the table. "I think it is best not to tell the guys, especially Caleb." Avery whispered out quietly.
“|
I agree. All they need is a reason to flex their muscles." Lilly let out an exaggerated eye roll at the hot-tempered men they were with. Lilly didn't think the situation really was a big deal, but Kira was still agitated. She was bringing herself more to the surface. She had stayed fairly quiet since her powers were released. Today...not today, but now, in this moment, she felt Kira at the surface. She was restless and irritated. Her presence was loud in her head. She never realized how much her presence pained her head until now. After going without it and feeling it again, she felt the strain. 'Kira... what's wrong' Lilly tried to talk to her wolf. 'It's not over...so be careful' Kira's voice was gruff and intense. Lilly couldn't understand how a human had her wolf so worked up.
"There are the guys." Avery looked up to see the guys walking over. She felt relieved seeing Caleb and could stop herself from hopping up from her seat and jumping into his arms. In his arms. Where everything felt right, warm, and safe. He spun her around and smiled at her curiously before leading her back to the table with the rest of the guys.
"So, who won?" Lilly tried to force Kira back as she focused on something else.
Tyler sat next to Lilly and then reached under her chair. He hooked his fingers under the bottom rim and pulled it as close to him as physically possible. He slid his arm around her and frowned. Tristan sat down, grabbed a corn dog and started eating with a grimace. "I'm taking it that means neither of you won." Lilly watched both men curiously as a proud Cedric sat next to her, followed by the rest of the group.
"They were no match for fairy power." Cedric grinned, grabbing for a basket of fries.
Lilly giggled. She traced her finger over Tyler's jaw line. "Aww, baby are you upset?" Lilly teased in a cooing voice.
He smiled and leaned his head into her neck. He teased her neck with his lips before planting a kiss on the side of her forehead. "There all better."
"My turn to feel better." Tristan smiled as he looked over at Lilly while Tyler shot daggers at him.
"Find your own. This one is mine." Tyler looked Lilly over in adoration, proud that she was indeed his.
Lilly looked over at Avery, she was acting like herself again. She wanted to rip that guys throat out for spoiling a good moment. She had never seen that vulnerable side to Avery and it hurt her heart. Though she understood it.
Lilly was picking at her fries, while the rest of the men were devouring the food like it was their last meal.
What's bugging you Lills? You look fine, but I can sense your mood. You seem... off. Tristan's voice rang into Lilly's head.
Lilly continued to eat her fries and not look up to him. She was trying not to alert everyone that he was speaking to her. It's fine Tristan. Nothing to worry about.
Come on Lilly? Or I'll tell Cedric to unblock the mate link. Tristan teased in her head.
Don't you dare. Just let it go. I don't want to make anything a big deal. IT ISN'T a big deal. Kira is just being overprotective. That's all. Lilly wanted to continue to enjoy her day. This wasn't a thing, to make a thing.
Kira is upset... What is she upset over? Tristan's voice was no longer teasing. It was serious and full of caution hearing that Kira was upset.
Tristan. Please. Everything is fine. Okay? Lilly was begging him in her head to drop it. This was her fun day. She wasn't about to let some odd guy ruin it.
Tristan snorted angrily, stuffing another corndog in his mouth. The gesture didn't go unnoticed. The group looked around each other, noticing Tristan's grumpy demeanor.
"You still sour about losing?" Tyler raised his eye looking at Tristan. He glanced at Lilly out of the corner of his eye and noticed she was still concentrating on her food. That was when Tyler was first hinted that something else was amiss. "Lills?" Tyler squeezed his hand on her side and watched as her eye looked up to him. "Is everything alright?"
Lilly smiled and kissed his lips gently. "Yes, everything is. I can't decide if we should visit the arcade now or wait until the end. I want to go on some of the roller coasters too, but maybe we should wait until we digest a bit. Okay, that settles it. The arcade is next." Lilly stuffed a few more fries in her mouth and looked around everyone curiously. "Wha?" She was trying to play oblivious. Like she was so deep in thought she couldn't focus on the world around her.
"Tristan seems a bit grumpy." Cedric eyed over towards Tristan who was staring back at her.
"Did I not get enough corn dogs? I mean, you ate four already?!" Lilly met with his eyes calmly. They also were reading loud and clear. Don't you dare ruin today.
Fine. He would play along. For now. But he wasn't letting her out of his sight. "These aren't just corn dogs. These are amusement park corn dogs. They are in a league of their own."
"Well go get more then. I think you might be a bear who identifies as a pig." Kade cracked a joke as he side eyed Tristan.
"I want another one too!" Caleb pouted. "Avey baby will you get us a few more?"
Lilly watched as Avery tensed up. Her eyes flew over towards Lilly as she shifted in her seat. She didn't want to go back up to that concession stand. She also didn't want to explain why she didn't. She looked to Lilly for help here. "How about we do the arcade first? You can get more food later." Lilly looked at both Caleb and Tristan. She was hoping to avoid that concession stand for now since the moment was still raw.
Tristan looked at her for a moment and then directed his gaze towards the concession stand. He noticed a couple guys had their eyes on their table. He figured that they had done something or that they had something to do with what was going on. He felt the lava begin to boil in his chest. If they did something to his princess... he felt his anger rising. He looked back at Lilly and his eyes flickered towards her. Their eyes clashed in an unspoken battle. As much as he wanted to throw his hammer down, he also wanted to make Lilly happy. It was a good thing Tyler's mate link was being blocked right now.
"Fine, but I am ordering a couple dozen corndogs for the ride home." Tristan submitted but left a hidden promise for Lilly. He was telling her he was going to take his time over at the concession stand before leaving by ordering a large amount of food. And spend some extra time with the gentlemen who had taken an interest with their table. More importantly, with the princess at the table. A dark glaze washed over his eyes as he thought about what must have happened.
"Okay glutton, no need to get that serious over it." Kade patted Tristan on the back and stood up. "So, competition round two? Let's see who can win the biggest stuffed animal at the arcade." Fire lit in the men's eyes at the promise of a new competition. It was time for redemption.
