Dr. Luna -
Chapter 57
Tristan groaned and slapped his hand into his head. That damn temper of his made him snap. And not just at anyone but towards her, his person. She was his family. He only had her. He was taken away from his family as a toddler in order for him not to develop loyalties towards anyone but her. His whole life is built around her. He lived for her. She has not put that together yet. That she is the only family he has. Her and Tyler now. He would even fight against James, the fake brother he grew up with, for her. No one topped her spot, and no one ever would. That is why most guardians never ended up with a significant other. Because their number one spot in their heart is always the royal family.
"I think she hates me now." Tristan groaned into his hands.
Tyler smiled at him. He wondered if he looked this pathetic when he thought Lilly was mad at him too. He was close enough with Tristan to know that he would never be malicious towards Lilly. He knew that his anger was directed towards keeping her safe. What he was irritated about was not knowing what to keep her safe from. Tyler slapped Tristan on the back. "She doesn't hate you. You just made her mad. On that note, I want to know why? What is it that I don't know?"
"UGH! I don't know. That's the problem. I don't know. I want to know... I need to know and it is driving me to the edge. I know something happened, but I don't know what. Something happened when we were racing, I have my suspicions... but I don't know anything. She said Kira was upset... she wouldn't be acting out for nothing." Tristan grunted as he pulled his fingers through his hair.
"Relax rabid animal." Tyler turned and looked at Cedric with a serious demeanor. "Get rid of the mate block." If there was something going on with Lilly, he needed to know and was going to know. If her wolf was sounding the alarm at something, he wanted to know what.
"Sorry for all the prying Lilly. I'm sure it is hard having everyone always in your business. You even have that soul mate link so there is zero privacy in your life." Avery held on to her dear friends arm as they strolled together.
"I guess Tyler doesn't have any privacy either. The only difference is he is expected to fight and even encouraged. While I am supposed to stand at the top of the tower and wave our colors in support. It isn't me Ave. I want to be there too. I want to be standing side by side and fighting with the rest of them. Even if I am important, I am not weak. I can be a big help. I don't want them risking their lives just like they don't want me risking mine. It is necessary sometimes though. That's really what this fight is about. It is about me fighting for my place." Lilly was steadfast in her views. She was strong and knew she was meant to be at the front lines as well.
"You are strong Lilly, both mentally and physically. You make me proud of you every day." Avery smiled at her Luna. She was such an amazing person.
"Awe, thank you Avery! You are your own bowl of awesomesauce."
Avery and Lilly strolled up to the washrooms and then noticed a small walk through attraction next to it. It was a fun house.
"You want to?" Avery nodded her head over at the house and Lilly nodded with a huge grin.
Avery had tears in her eyes laughing at Lilly walking through the dizzy tunnel. She kept falling over and finally relented to just crawl out. She was thoroughly dizzy when they walked over the tilting floor. Both girls swayed side to side and were using the wall to steady themselves.
The two girls were holding hands as they walked into the mirror maze. They wanted to make sure they were not separated. A child threw a rubber spider at them over the wall and they both squealed in fear. Tough werewolves zero... fake spider... one. Lilly are you okay? Tyler's voice rang out into her head.
"The mate link is unblocked." Lilly gave Avery a crooked smiled. Yes, everything is fine. I just got spooked going through the fun house.
You are in the fun house? I'll be waiting for you at the exit. Tyler's voice echoed into her head.
It was weird. You would think that having your mate as your mind reader would be a pain. But she missed feeling him in her mind. It was like having Kira there. She would miss her if her presence vanished.
I hope you'd miss me more than Kira. His snarky voice rang in again.
Hey, get in your own mind. Never mind, it is annoying. She heard his chuckle in her mind and she smiled. She wouldn't have to explain herself to Tyler. He would be able to understand exactly how she was feeling. She just hoped that would be enough. "What's left?" Lilly asked as they freed themselves from the crazy mirrors.
"The haunted room and then the slide with the ball pit." Avery beamed a bright smile towards Lilly. They felt like kids and the ball pit was icing on the cake.
They waited their turn and then walked through a light blocking curtain. The room was dark with faint lights from red glow sticks staggered throughout the room. But they were werewolves. All they needed to do was push their wolf senses forward... but Avery wasn't good with that so she clung onto Lilly. Lilly would brace herself when she could see something coming up, but purposely wouldn't tell Avery. These motion scares had her squeaking and jumping from being startled.
"Lilly, tell me next time." Avery giggled as she took her other hand to her chest.
"What? I thought you liked scary stuff? This is payback for the scary movies." Lilly said proudly.
"I didn't pick them though." Avery whined putting out her bottom lip.
Kira began to growl in Lilly's head. She stopped, walked and scanned the area. She noticed one person in the distance...well one was for sure a person. The other... was different. She already knew who they were. No wonder Kira was on high alert. She was sensing what Lilly was finally able to, now that she brought her senses forward.
Avery... I want you to turn and run.
What? Why? What's wrong? Avery was scrambling to see in the dark.
This is an order from your Luna. There is an emergency exit to the side. Go now! Lilly used her Luna voice and commanded Avery to leave. She watched as the girl clenched her eyes and obeyed her order. She knew Tyler would be worried. She couldn't just leave. After all, it wasn't in her nature.
Damn it Lilly. Get out of there. We are coming. Tyler's voice resonated in her head.
Lilly took in a breath and ignored the voice that continued to urge her to leave. She was curious about the other body. She walked towards them.
She saw the man from earlier whose black and blue nose looked as if it had seen better days. Then she looked at the other 'man' beside him. It was the other guy employee. So punching him in the face was just for show. Now that she could sense him clearly, there was more to him. He still seemed like a human, but something more.
"Where is your friend?" The black nosed man asked.
"I told her to leave when I knew you were up ahead." Lilly's eyes flickered between the two men.
"Yet, you still came?" The other man asked with interest.
"Well your friend here really pissed me off and almost ruined my fun day. Letting him get off with just a black and blue nose just isn't my style." Lilly glared at the ugly nosed man. She smirked antagonizing him to advance towards her.
"You should have run girl." The man walked towards Lilly.
CRACK THWAP
The sound of an arm breaking, and a loud thud echoed in the room. The man was lying unconscious on the floor a few feet away from Lilly.
"Well I guess I feel a tiny bit better." Lilly shrugged and then turned her gaze towards the other man. She was studying him curiously.
"It's Reed. My name is Reed." The man spoke up.
"Introductions? Really? What do you want?" Lilly looked at the man named Reed and she felt her world shift. It was like she was above the area but in another dimension. She was standing above where she was at before but on air. She looked around the area fascinated. "Is this an astral plane?" Reed's eyes danced in amusement. "You aren't scared?"
Lilly looked back up towards Reed and couldn't help the slight laugh that came out of her throat. "Not at all. I'm actually pretty fascinated. Like, am I on air or is there a floor here in another dimension?"
Reed chuckled. "You are a very amusing person. Yes, this is an astral plane. And technically you just can't see what you are standing on right now."
"So, are you like a witch?" Lilly was thinking this was the most logical assumption.
"Warlock, witch is what the women are called." He eyed her curiously. She wasn't scared at all.
"So, is this how you get women? You trap them in an astral plan? Please tell me you aren't that lame." Lilly looked up at him with her eyes raised. "And your friend there... he is sick. Are you like him too?"
"No, I'm not like him. He has a problem. And no, I don't use this as a pickup for women. You're the first." Reed's voice was calm and quiet as he watched Lilly.
"I feel so special." Lilly said in a mocking voice. "So, what was all this? An attempt for your friend to get with mine? That isn't ever going to happen."
"He wanted to see if he could persuade her into it. I came along just to make sure he didn't get dirty. I'm seriously not a bad guy." Reed shrugged with a crooked smile. "I am really curious why you seem so unphased by this. Most humans would be freaking out right about now."
"Yeah, your right. Most humans would be. That would be true... if I were human." Lilly's eyes flashed up to his as a small smile rested on her mouth.
