Chapter 19

Myles POV

We spent the morning at the beach, laying on a lounge chair under an umbrella, watching the waves.

Things have been quiet between us, not in a bad way just enjoying eachothers company. But I could definitely tell she was pulling away a little.

We caught a glimpse of Conner sitting out in the sand with his head in his knees.

He’s been off the last few days, quiet, not really making many jokes, and has basically stayed around the house with us.

Normally, he would be begging us to go out so he could hit on anyone in a skirt.

“Myles, you really need to talk to him. It’s time.”

I sighed.”I know, I’m just not sure what to say. This really isn’t a guy thing. I mean, we really dont talk about our feelings together.”

“Well, do you think he’ll talk to me?”

“Actually, that’s not a bad idea. He might open up to you a bit more, knowing you would never give him s**t for it down the road.”

“It will have to wait till later. Maybe I can get him to go for ice cream. But right now I gotta go meet up with your mom and Amber to go dress shopping for Ben’sparty.”

“Okay, that works for me.”

“Wait, dress, does that mean I have to wear a tie?”

She winked at me.

I sighed and kissed her lips a few times before she got up to get ready.

Lily’s POV

Sylvia and Amber invited me to go dress shopping, more like insisted I go.

We all needed new dresses and me and Amber and I have never been to a black tie event before.

I knew Ben’s return was going to be a big deal. I just didn’t expect it to be so fancy.

Amber made a good point though if we did our shopping over here the likelihood of us having the same dress as someone else was very slim.

In the first few stores, I didn’t really find anything that called out to me.

Amber found hers instantly. It was an emerald green strapless mermaid gown. It tugged at her curves perfectly.

I, however, wasn’t having that much luck. By the fourth store, Amber insisted I had to least try on a few.

She pulled a purple, red, and silver dress for me to try on. All three completely different styles to see what I liked.

Sylvia came over with a black silk dress and insured me just to try it. but it seemed pretty plain to me.

I tried the red dress on first and instantly took it off. “Nope, I look like a porn star.”

Amber giggled. “How would you know what they look like, Lil.”

I blushed not that she could see me.

I tried the purple dress next. It made me look square if that’s even possible. It’s normally my go-to color because of my eyes. But this, this was just awful.

I walked out of the dressing room, and Sylvia and Amber both shook their heads.

I didn’t let them get any words out and just stepped back in the dressing room, ready to get this thing off.

The silver dress wasn’t bad at all, it was covered in glitter and had thick straps and went down in a v shape in the back and front, with a sheer nude piece of fabric covering my cleavage.

I wanted to feel sexy, I wanted something outside my normal comfort zone. This was cute but not exactly what I wanted.

I know it’s cliche, but I wanted Ben to see what he was missing, to regret dumping me like that. but I also wanted to sweep Myles off his feet.

I stepped out once again and got a thumbs up from Amber, but Sylivia had a devilish look on her face.

“Just try the black one on, dear.”

Amber looked at her confused. “Just trust me, I’m older than you both, and I think I have an idea of what Lily is wanting this dress to say.”

I nodded at her, wondering what she meant by that or how she knew what I wanted.”

I slipped the black dress on. It felt cool on my skin from the silk.

I looked in the mirror and smiled instantly. This is the one.

I didn’t waste any time coming out of the dressing room.

Amber whistled, “Girl, that dress was made for your body. It would be a shame if you didn’t do your womanly duties and bring a few men to their knees.” She bowed down.

Sylvia shook her head at her daughter.

She came and took her hands into mine.

“Lily, I think we both know this dress is the one, it will make Ben regret ever doing a girl like you wrong, but also make my son fall in love with you all over again.”

“I think that’s what you’ve been looking for all day, right?”

I nodded.I felt ashamed that she caught onto that.

She must think I’m awful for wanting to make my ex jealous while I’m with her son.

I looked mortified.

“Lily, it’s okay, I would have done the same thing. In fact, I have done something similar.”

“Kevin wouldn’t give me the time of day in high school. I ended up showing up to the pacts ball with a knockout dress and his best friend.”

Me and Amber both looked at her, shocked.

“Don’t look at me like that, I didn’t use the guy. He was in on it. He was trying to make another girl jealous, too.”

“But the point I’m trying to make is, I know it’s not the the same , but it’s okay to want to make Ben regret his decision and still love my son, I know he hurt you badly, and your not the type of person to hurt someone back but alittle jab will make anyone feel better, and truthfully he deserves alot more than a small jab of jealousy and regret.”

“So, buy the dress my son will love it and maybe it will help you finally close the door with Ben “

I nodded but looked at her confused.

“Just trust me, I’ve seen it all. I think you need to come face to face with Ben in order to move on and I don’t think you will be able to till you see him and say what you’ve wanted to say to him the last two years, it doesn’t mean you love my son any less. Just means you need the closure, and Ben really does need his a*s chewed out.”

She paused for a moment.

“But I do think it will help you fully embrace Myles as a mate, your it for him Lily, even if your not his fated one, even if you don’t chose him, I don’t think he would love anyone else but you. So close the door with Ben and more forward with your life… it’s time, sweetie.”

She patted my hand.

“I’m sorry if I overstepped or made you uncomfortable. I love you both, but he’s still my son and I don’t want to see him get hurt and I don’t think you can love him like he deserves till you put this chapter with Ben behind you.”

“So if it’s okay with you, i would love to buy the dress for you? and then I’m going to head back while you girls shop for shoes and accessories.”

I finally spoke.

“I would love that, thank you.”

She went to walk away.

“Sylvia, wait, I do love your son, way more than I ever loved Ben, I’m just, I’m just scared. “

She took my face in her hands.

“I know sweetie, that’s why you need to close that door and move on, there’s a man who will wait for you whenever your ready, just don’t make him wait forever for you to fully commit. “

No matter how easy things go with, Myles. I can’t help myself to hold back slightly.

Like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop, and he suddenly decides he doesn’t love me anymore.

I know deep down Myles isn’t like that, and maybe Sylvia is right. Seeing Ben face to face and closing that door will help me get over that fear that Myles would ever do the same.

I felt the pressure, especially when she said she didn’t think Myles would love anyone else but me.

I knew his feelings were strong for me, I guess I didn’t realize everyone else knew too.

After Sylvia left, Amber wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug.

“She’s right, you know. She may come off overbearing, but she just wants to help, even if it’s things we really don’t want to hear.”

“Besides, she thinks you and Myles will end up together no matter what and give her grand pups soon, i heard her talking to dad about it.”

I snorted.

“She’s just excited. She loves you, Lily, and I think she’s just trying to give you that push that you really do need.”

“But enough of the sappy stuff, let’s go find shoes. “

I nodded, my mind clearly somewhere else.

“Hey, after shoe shopping, do you think we could ask Conner to meet us in town for ice cream?”

“Fine with me, you gonna ask him what’s been up his fanny?”

I giggled. “Yeah, something like that.”

“Good, Brodys mentioned he’s been off for days, too.”

Conner POV

Lily had texted me to meet her in town for ice cream. Well, she didn’t exactly ask more like you told me to be at Vinces ice cream shop at four.

It was strange for her to text me, I mean, we were not exactly close.

Up until the last few months, she barely said a couple of words to me when I would tag along with Myles when they hung out.

But I guess you could say we’ve become closer, especially staying under the same roof.

I haven’t left the house much, I didn’t think I would be dwelling over Louise. But here I am dwelling away.

I’m guessing because I haven’t broken the stupid mate bond. I know I’m going to have to meet up with her again to accept her stupid rejection.

I would probably feel so much better. But right now, I just didn’t have it on me to see her yet.

I got to the ice cream shop a few minutes early, but Lily and Amber were already in a booth with their shopping bags.

“You girls have to buy everything?”

Amber stuck her tongue out.

“So what’s up, why did you guys want go grab Ice cream, when we have nearly every flavor at the house”

Amber and Lily spoke at the same time. “sprinkles.”

“And you couldn’t just buy some?”

Lily looked nervous.

“Well, not exactly, I kind of lured you out here to try to get you to talk to us about what’s wrong.. I didn’t think you would tell us with the guys around.”

I cleared my throat. “Ahh, I see.”

“What makes you think I want to talk?”

It came out harsher than I intended.

Lily started to stutter, I’ve noticed she does this when she’s nervous.

“So, buy the dress my son will love it and maybe it will help you finally close the door with Ben “

“Well I, Well we um have noticed you haven’t been yourself and I know I dont know you all that well but even I noticed something is off… and well, I’m not trying to make you tell me, I just wanted you to know that I’m here for you if you do want to talk.”

I could tell she had a hard time getting that all out, and her face looked genuine.

I sighed. But I decided to just tell them, “i knew Lily would let it go till i was ready, but Amber would nag till I end up blurting it out in frustration.”

“I met my fated mate at Lennys”

“Oh, Conner, that’s wonderful.”

Amber smiled slightly, but then her mouth went to a straight line. “But?”

How did she know there was a but.

“But she rejected me, she rejected me without even knowing my status.”

Both their faces turned angry and sad all at the same time. I could see they’d pitted me a bit, and I didn’t want that, i didn’t want to be pitted by anyone.

“I found out she’s the alphas daughter from the eclipse pack, her name is Louise and when I mentioned I was from the black moon back she instantly rejected me, I didn’t even get a chance to accept her rejection.”

I rubbed my hand down my face. “My dad’s going to be pissed if he finds out, and I’m sure he will.”

A look of guilt went across Amber’s face. “You said her name was Louise?”

“Yeah, why?”

“Oh, it’s nothing, I just think I’ve heard of her.”

“Well, ladies, as fun as it is to talk about my manly feelings, I’m going to head back, need a lift.”

Lily half smiled. “That would be great, thank you.”

I could tell she wanted to ask more questions, but i was relieved she didn’t.

“I just have to use the ladies’ room real fast. You and Lily can head out, I’ll meet you outside.”

We started to walk out when Lily tripped over the step, accidently pushing the door into a womens back, and she stumbled forward slightly.

I grabbed Lily’s arm and back, holding her up.

Lily’s face was mortified. “I’m so sorry, i didn’t see you. It was an accident.”

When they lady turned around, she was ready to tear Lily to shreds, but paused when we both looked at each other in shock.

“Louise, what are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same?…I’m here shopping with my friends. What does it look like?”

She looked from Lily to me and back to Lily.

I swear there was a hint of jealously going across her face.

Amber came out. “Uh, what’s going on?”

Lily spoke, “This Is Louise.”

Amber looked beyond pissed. She had her fight face on.

“Like the cold hearted, gold digging b***h Louise?”

s**t, here we go. What shocked me the most was even Lily got shitty.

“Yup that’s the one, Amber”

I swear I saw Lily’s eyes start to glow more of neon purple color, but when I shook my head and blinked they were back to her normal violet eyes.”

Maybe I imagined it i haven’t been sleeping well.

Louise turned three shades of red, this was not going to go good for me. But I couldn’t find the voice to cut in and end this.

“And who are you girls?.. flavor of the day?”

Lily must be feeling bold. Or was just that pissed.

“Ha, cute, least we know now we’re better looking then his fated mate, our hair is atleast natural”

Oh, s**t.

“But no, were friends with Conner from black moon pack and from what I’ve heard of you he lucked out by you rejecting him.”

And I thought I was only going to have to worry about Amber running her mouth, not both of them.

“Well does your Alpha know three omegas are disrespecting the alphas daughter of the eclipse pack, I’m sure he won’t be to thrilled about that, im sure the punishment wouldnt be fun.”

Amber had an evil grin cross her face. These girls are going to kill me, but im also thrilled to know they have my back.

“Well good thing I’m not an omega but a gammas daughter, in fact my father is just a few miles down the road I have no problem calling him to make sure its clear to the alpha of what happened here.”

“And my boy Conner over there is the top warriors son, and my best friend Lily here is dating my brother and the future gamma of our pack and he happens to be down the road too.”

Louise’s face flushed.

“Now Louisseee should I make a few phone calls? Maybe you should know all the facts before you go assuming s**t or showing off for tweedle dee and tweedle dumb back there.”

Louise sighed “No, dont but did you say her name is Lily and all of you are from black moon pack?”

“Yeah why?”

“Oh nothing, it’s nothing , this was clearly all a misunderstanding I have to go.”

Amber smacked me “Now you idiot.”

Oh s**t I almost forgot, “Louise wait.”

She looked sad looking back at me.

“I Conner Joe Moore accept the rejection of you Louise May Parker as my fated mate.”

She fell to her knees.

I walked to my truck never looking back.
