Chapter 35

Lily’s POV

We headed back to the ballroom for dinner. Not that I was hungry by any means, but I knew I needed to eat something, least for the pups’ sake. I haven’t kept anything down all day.

We sat down at our table, and the tension was high. Lunas eyes were glued to me, and Ben had multiple drink glasses around him. This can’t be good.

The women he brought sat next to him and was twirling her hair, clearly wanting to be anywhere else.

She looked up over at our table, and i finally recognized her from the ice cream shop.

“Shit.” Myles looked at me confused.

“I just figured out where I recognized Ben’s luna from. She’s Conners fated mate.”

He didn’t act surprised. “You already figured that out, didn’t you?”

He laughed. “Yeah baby, don’t worry. Amber has already asked Conner if he wanted her to punch her or have an accident?”

“She didn’t?”

“I honestly think he was considering it till Brody got pissed off at her saying she’s going to get herself killed if she keeps hitting people.”

“Yeah, probably so, I know she has a lot of built-up anger right now, and she doesn’t do well with that.”

“Brody pointed out that she looks miserable. Her dress is just screaming to get someone’s attention. She looks desperate. “

“No, she looks sad and heartbroken. I think she might have actually loved Ben, and she came into this s**t fest. I can’t imagine what she’s feeling.”

“Weren’t you nasty to her at the ice cream shop?”

“Yeah, but if she was dealing with Ben’s s**t I think I understand her a little more. I think she knew who I was then.”

I looked back over at Louise, and we locked eyes. She gave me a sad smile and then looked at Ben and took a deep breath. She stood and headed to our table.

“Do you mind if I sit with you guys? I’m leaving tomorrow and I don’t think it’s right that I sit at the head table with Ben.”

I gave her a small smile. “I think that will he okay,”

I felt Myles put his arm around the top of my chair and started to rub my back. He kissed my forehead and whispered, ” You’re too kind, sweetheart.”

“It’s not her fault Ben’s an a*s.”

He titled his head back and forth like he understood.

Conner linked me. “Lily, what are you doing? You know what she did to me.”

I linked back. “I know Conner, but think about how bad she must be feeling to rather sit with the mate she rejected than sit by Ben. She must feel so humilated right now.”

I gave a sly smile. Louise was looking back and forth between us like she knew we were linking.

She took a deep breath. “Lily, I just want to apologize for my part in all of this. I had no idea what Ben did to you or his moms part in all of this. I’m honestly just learning most of it today. He never told me he had a girlfriend back home till I overheard Landyn and him talking.”

I gave her a sympathic look. “Louise, I never blamed you. Those were Bens decisions. I, however, was pissed that you rejected Conner, though. At the time, I didn’t know you did it for Ben.”

“Well, our fathers arranged it. They wanted Ben and I to combine the packs together. There are both so power hungry, I guess most alphas are. At the time, it seemed like it was a good idea. I mean, I was single, I thought he was. He was handsome and sweet to me. At least at first he was, and then he wasn’t. I was doing anything I could to get his attention, hence this dress. I know it’s stupid. But I fell in love with him when things were good. “

Amber’s face relaxed. I honestly thought she was going to kill me for letting Louise sit down.

She shocked me by talking to her.

She scrunched her eyebrows. “It’s not stupid. You would do anything for the person you love. I get it. Even change yourself a little. But if he really loved you, then you wouldn’t have to change. He would accept you for who you are. Excuse me, “

Amber got up. It was clear a jab at Brody. Brodys parents haven’t been very accepting of her as Brodys mate. He didn’t defend or support her when his parents said she was too impulsive and wild for him. They even suggested he reject her, and all Brody did was ask that she change a little. She’s been struggling with it for weeks.

I smirked at him and gave him a look like he got what he deserved. He sighed and got up to follow her.

Louse looked guilty. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make them leave.”

“It wasn’t about you fully. Don’t worry about that.”

She nodded. “I would have never gotten involved with him if I knew about you. When he told me his dad demanded he end things with you, I knew in that moment he was never going to truly love me. I mean, how could he when he’s completely in love with someone else. I just wish i realized it sooner. I’ve made a lot of mistakes with Ben. Became a person I hardly regonize, and tonight, after witnessing all of this, I want no part in any of it.”

I honestly wasn’t shocked by any of this. Part of me did feel sorry for Ben. I understood a little more why he was so upset that i rejected him. I guess he really did love me. Myles rubbed the back of my neck. I think he felt slightly bad for Ben to.

“Is your dad going to be upset?”

“Probably, after he had an affair with someone in our pack. My mom ended up killing herself. I’ve done everything I could to make him happy, well make him love me. But in the process, I’ve made myself so completely miserable. I’m honestly not even sure if he’ll let me back home. My step mom was an omega, and she’s all high and mighty now that she’s luna, I’m sure she will be thrilled to not have to give up the title just yet. I know she will talk him down.”

Ben and Luna Meghan were just staring at our table. Alpha Rodger was just shaking his head like he knew they were being ridiculous. I never thought he would be the level-headed one in that bunch.

“I’m really sorry, Louise.” I generally was. She actually was really hard to dislike after sitting down and talking with her.

“Thank you for letting me sit here. I just couldn’t sit there any longer in the awkward silence with tha girl Brooke glaring at me.”

“It’s really okay.” I look over at Conner, and he looked like he was trying to process everything. His face had softened from earlier. I don’t think he hates her as much as he did before. He finally spoke softly.

He looked at Louise with the most serious face I’ve ever seen that guy make. “Did Ben know you were my fated mate.”

“Yeah, I told him.”

He got angry and shook his head. “Some f*****g friend.” He looked at Ben who was still watching us and put his head down when Conner locked eyes with him . Wow, and alpha putting his head down, he must feel ashamed.

Amber and Brody returned. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

The first course came and it was a ceaser salad. after that it was roast and potatoes and glazed carrots. For dessert it was chocolate or strawberry cheesecake. I had a hard time deciding so Myles got the opposite of what I had and let me have both. This was the first I could actually keep food down. Amber smiled at me knowing.

I felt Myles put his hand on my stomach under the table. Made my heart melt. He put his nose into the side of my head and inhaled my scent and kissed my cheek.

Louise smiled at us. “You really do love eachother don’t you?”

“Maybe alittle.”

Myles shook his head and scrunched his nose at me. “More like alot.”

Amber rolled her eyes. “No, there completely obsessed with eachother and hump like rabbits.”

Louise busted out laughing and I blushed instantly. But Myles had the proudest smirk on his face.

Louise smiled at that. “Its how it should be though. I want that. That feeling of its to painful not to touch and be near that person. The person you cant physically live with out.”

I looked up at Myles knowing I had that with him. He looked me in the eyes and reached down to give me a small k**s that turned alittle more heated than I would of liked for being infront of a bunch of people. But right now I didn’t care. I loved that he adored me this much.

Amber stuck her finger in her mouth and pretended to gag. “See completely obsessed with eachother.”

Myles smiled down at me. ” I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Landyn POV

My whole family was sitting with Ben and his family. It’s tradition that the alpha and beta familes always sit at the head table.

I was shocked too see Louise get up to go sit with Lily and Conner. Her and Lily were actually holding a conversation and were both smiling.

Ben just look sad, but luna fricken looked like she was about to blow a gasket.

We ate our meal pretty much in silence. Brooke just kept whispering questions to me about Louise and Lily. Basically trying to see if Ben was available. She was completely obvious. She didn’t give a s**t about anything else that was going on, just what she could get out of it.

“Brooke, I swear to the moon goddess if you don’t shut the f**k up about Ben I’m going to personal make sure you don’t get ten feet of him. You really need to wait for your mate or someone else, anyone else really.”

She pouted. ” Whatever Landyn, you don’t get to dictate what I do.”

I rolled my eyes and she stormed off to go sit with Lexi.

The music picked back up and everyone was starting to dance again.

I’ve been wanting to talk to Lily all night. I guess this is as a good of time as any. I walked over to her table. “Lily will you have this dance with me?”

She looked at Myles, clearly linking to see if it’s okay. After the night they have had and the rumors circling I understand why she asked him for permission.

“Sure Landyn, that would be okay.”

She took her hand into mine and i lead her to dance floor.

“Its really good to see you Lily, I know it’s been years but how have you been?”

“Landyn I think you already know the answer to that.”

I nodded. We swayed silently back and forth to the slow song that was playing. I looked around the crowd to see Myles, Ben, Lexi and Brooke staring at us. Not that I cared but I felt like it might bug Lily alittle.

“Lily I’m sorry for everything that’s happened. I know we were once friends and I don’t want any bad b***d between us.”

She looked confused. “Theres nothing to be sorry for Landyn. You didn’t make any of these choices.”

I grazed her cheek with my fingers where her bruise was. “How bad did he get out there?”

I’ve known for sometime that he’s been spiraling. I just hate that he actually hit a women. Especially Lily out of all people. We all cared for her deeply.

She placed her hand on top of cheek before she put it back on my shoulder. “Its not that bad.”

“Bad enough for you to get checked out by the pack doctor?”

“Myles was just worried. He gets really over protective.”

“Lily I know your secret, I know all your secrets.”

She looked confused and shocked. For a second I thought she was going to bolt back to Myles.

“Lily it’s okay. I won’t say anything. How about I tell you mine and we can swear to eachother not to every tell anyone.”

She nodded and we went back to dancing.

“My mom had an affair with Alpha Rodger. He’s actually my dad and what kills me is my parents think I don’t know.”

Her eyes plunged out of her head. But never said anything just listened.

“I ended up getting my wolf at fourteen which was a good indicator that I had alpha b***d in me. My parents tried to cover it up by saying it’s because I’m just so huge. But what they don’t know or anyone else for that matter is when I got my wolf I also could start hearing peoples thoughts. “

She looked at me. “A blessed wolf?”

“Yeah unlike you I don’t come from a royal bloodline which makes it even more rare and dangerous.”

“Why are you telling me this? Especially if you already know I’m a royal.”

“I mostly wanted you to know that I’ve known your a royal since I was fourteen and that I’ve always kept your secret. Back then I had a hard time controlling how to block out everyone’s thoughts. I heard it from your mom and luna.”

She still looked confused and slightly hurt.

“I didn’t know your wolf was special till I got here and heard it in Lunas thoughts. When I listened to yours to see if there was any truth to that. I found out it was and that also you and Myles are pregnant.”

She panicked. “You can’t tell anyone, not yet anyway. “

She went to ramble and I stopped her before she could.

“Lily, I’m not going to tell anyone. I’m happy for you. I can tell by your and Myles thoughts that you both love eachother deeply. With everything going on I wanted you to know that you have me to. I’m not sure what’s coming your way but i’ll always protect you. What Ben and Luna are doing is so wrong and I won’t ever support that.”

“So do you know everything, and I mean like everything?”

“I do. I can also tell you that your mom and you are right, luna did try to have your mom and her brother killed and she does think there dead. But what you don’t know is she has been talking to the rogue king.”

“How could she do that?”

“Because the rogue king is her fated mate. He was never murdered and she never killed him.”

“What about his sons?”

“There her sons to.”

She looked puzzled trying to put all the pieces together.

“But how?”

“All those trips she took from pack to pack. She hid it well and then gave birth with her fated mate at the rogue kingdom and would come back here. It makes sense why she’s always leaving. Alpha was worried about his own affairs that he didn’t even notice hers. She also had some witch cover her change of scent up”

“Then why push Ben on me if her fated mate wanted me to be with there son?”

“Because no one would ever accept a rogue as an actually king. If Ben became the king he would be respected and could actually rule. Unlike Lunas other sons.”

“She has it out for you and Myles since you killed her youngest son. Thats why she tried to have your mom killed as a punishment. She knew she could never kill you because of the power you would give one of her sons. But now that she knows you and Ben can never be she’s agreed to her fated mate to hand you over to them. “

She looked scared. ” We have to tell Myles.”

“I dont know if you guys are planning on marking eachother but I would soon. I’m not sure when she’s planning on doing this, but I will keep listening to her thoughts. You cant tell Myles that Ben is my brother though. I’m just not ready for people to know that I’m actually the alphas eldest son.”

“I understand I’ll keep your secret. But what does luna have to do with my dad?”

“It was her idea to have your dad kidnapped. She knew she could get you and your mom to the pack. She wasn’t sure if you were a blessed wolf but she had an idea. But she least could get Ben to be king. Why we were all put together so much as kids.”

The slow songs were over and a fast beat one kicked on. I kissed the back of her hand. ” I would do anything to keep you and your mom safe. You don’t know this but your mom took care of me on countless occasions after my dad, well I guess not my biological dad would beat the s**t out of me. Even before I got my wolf.”

“How did I not know this?”

“No one new about the abuse besides Ben and your mom. He always managed to make sure it was easily covered up. I owe everything to your mom. She made sure none of my cuts got Infected. I was left with a few scars but nothing to bad because of her and she always made sure to make me a plate of cookies for afterwards. “

She got teary eyed.”Thank you for telling me this, for telling me all of this.”

We went our separate ways. I went and sat back down at my table and Ben was giving me the death glare.”What was that about.”

“Checking in with an old friend. We were all friends before you and Lily got together.” I linked him. “And you know what her mom did for me.” He nodded and it was dropped.

Lexi POV

I watched Landyn and Lily head to the dance floor. I seriously couldn’t figure out what is so special about this girl.

They danced for five slow songs. They literally just talked the whole time. Both of there faces serious and other times they would smile at eachother.

I dont understand how she could basically go from making out with Myles in front of everyone to dancing thay many slow songs with Landyn.

I looked around and I wasn’t the only one getting jealous. All of the most eligible wolves were all hooked on one omega. Like how does every single ranked member from one pack fall for the same girl.

I saw Myles watch Lily, never taking his eyes off the two of them. I think he was confused just as much as I was.

I watched him k**s the back of Lily’s hand and go there separate ways. Lily went straight back to Myles and he pulled her on his lap inhaling her scent and kissing her deeply. He said something to her and they both smiled into eachothers eyes.

He Jumped up excitedly, practically pulling her to the dance floor. The song strawberry wine came on and he was singing to her. How random is that. But it was actually kind of cute if I didn’t completely hate how he was with her.

Her giggles echoed around which just made me even more jealous.

Amber plopped down in the open chair next to me. I hadn’t realized I was sitting at the table alone. I’m not even sure when Brooke left.

“You going to keep staring all night or are your going to move on Lexi. Your even making me uncomfortable of how noticeable you’ve been.”

“Just go away Amber.”

“Lexi he’s happy just let him be. You need to move on.”

I rolled my eyes. “Thanks for the advice.”

She looked at me alittle pissed. I know better to want Amber Cooper mad at you. This girl can be crazy.

She gave me one of her evil grins. “This song, I can tell it’s bugging you. It was the first slow song they danced to where Lily finally accepted Myles as her everything and they told eachother they loved eachother. That’s why he’s out there singing every word to her. Just like he did when they danced the first time to this song.”

“You couldn’t help yourself from telling me that could you?”

“You’ve been a b***h Lexi, I don’t think Brooke is rubbing off you on a good way.”

She got up and walked away. I flipped her off behind her back. I really need to figure out how to get Myles back. She clearly can have any ranked member, why him.

She clearly doesn’t look sick anymore so I don’t have to worry about her being pregnant. I’m not sure if Brooke would help me with a plan though. I know she tried to have a thing with Myles by the way she was trying to flirt with him.

I’ll just have to come up with something on my own.

When the song was over Myles took Lily’s hand and the ran out of the ballroom together again.

My heart shattered. I think the whole room knew where they were running off too.

That lucky b***h. I knew how good he is in bed. I would have to remind her of that.
