Chapter 37

Ben’s POV

I walked down to the dining hall today to eat breakfast for the first time since I’ve been back. Yesterday, I walked in and saw Lily and basically walked right back out, and I didn’t leave my room for the rest of the day.

I just layed in bed over thinking everything. I know I needed to make amends with Lily and my old friends. I just didn’t know how.

I went to apologize after my party, and i heard Myles and Lily having s*x on the door. I’ve never heard noises like that come out of her. I hated that Myles was the reason for it and not me.

When I saw them both marked, I couldn’t take it, and that’s when I decided to head back to bed.

I tried again last night. I was nervous I would hear them having s*x again. But what i heard was laughter. Not only from Lily and Myles, but all my old friends, including Landyn. I haven’t heard him laugh in so long.

I stood at the door, and i could hear a bunch of ruckus. It sounded like someone chasing Conner. I heard his fake scream, and it made me smile. I knew instantly he made some sort of smart a*s remark. I’ve missed this, I’ve missed them.

I heard the bathroom or closet door slam. I couldn’t make out what they were talking about. For the most part, the walls are good for covering up sound. But it’s not like they can completely shut out every noise. Espcially a big group laughing like that or having fricken s*x on the door.

I shook the image out of my head.

I walked away, really missing the old times. I would do anything if I could just go back to all of us hanging out before all the drama.

But back then, Lily wouldn’t have laughed like that. She would talk to everyone. She just wasn’t as confident as she is now or out spoken.

I looked around the dining hall, not even knowing where to sit. All my old friends hate my guts. I’m guessing some of the pack does to after last night’s drama.

I sat down at a small table by the buffet. I was really starting to think of just heading back to my room when I heard Lily giggle.

I looked up to see Myles had his arm draped over her shoulder and his head on the side of hers, trying to hold back a laugh.

Even Landyn was grinning from ear to ear. I was trying to figure out what was so funny when I saw Conner walking slightly behind them. With big bright purple eye shadow and bright pink lips.

Oh my goddess, they didn’t. They must have had a slumber party. Man, I miss those.

I know Brooke said Myles and Amber always slept over while I was gone and that Conner and Brody would occasionally. She always had a hard time opening up to them. But they seem pretty close now.

Especially her and Conner. I’ve learned how really protective of her he is now. Brooke described it as “he would take a silver bullet for her.” I actually think all of our friends would.

Almost the whole dining hall besides the older wolves were laughing. We used to pull crap like this all the time on Conner. I could tell one of the girls did his makeup. We never could get it that good.

Man, I miss being part of that. Part of that group.

Lily looked over at me and saw I was laughing. We locked eyes. What shocked me was when she linked me. I forgot she had her wolf now. I wasn’t used to her being in my head.

“You miss this, dont you?”

“This is weird, I’ve never linked you before. And yeah, you have no idea.”

“I can tell by your eyes.”

I didn’t know what to say, so I just let it be. I was honestly just happy she spoke to me after what I did to her.

She has such a good heart. She was always way too good for me.

I snuck out of the dining hall. As much as I enjoyed watching Conners confusion, I needed to get out of there. I was being flooded with memories, and they were actually painful.

I shook my head and stepped out the side door. You would think as much as we used to pull the crap on him, he would have figured it out by now.

Myles POV

I saw Lily linking someone and the direction she was looking at. I’m guessing it was Ben.

I tried not to let the jealousy get to me, but it was really hard. I held her mark, but he will always be her fated mate. No matter how bad he screwed up.

Their link wasn’t long, just a few seconds, when she brought her attention back to me.

Conner still couldn’t figure out what was so funny. He finally figured it out when he saw his reflection on the stainless steel that was on the buffet.

He took off chasing me, Brody, and even Landyn out of the dining hall. It literally felt like we were kids again. It was nice to goof off a little with so much going on.

We all came to a hault when we ran into my mom and dad. “s**t” She’s so going to yell at us for acting like children. My mom had her arms crossed. “Boys, what’s going on here?”

Before we could answer, Conner came running into my back. Clearly, I’m not paying any attention.

My mom raised an eyebrow. “Conner!”

He nervously peeked around my back. “Oh, hey Mrs. Cooper.”

My mom grinned. “Conner purple is not a flattering color on you. But I’m glad to see you all having fun again, especially now when it’s needed the most. “

She kissed Landyn on the cheek. “I’m glad you’re back part of the craziness. Alright boys your free.”

I smacked Conner on the back of his head, and me, Brody and Landyn took off running again with Conner on our tails.

I felt a link coming in. It was my mom. “Myles, as cute as it is to see you having childish fun, remember you got pups coming and responsibilities. But make sure you always continue to have innocent fun lines this. Landyns mom said she hasn’t seen him this happy in a really long time.”

I smiled, knowing we brought our friend some joy.

After goofing off for another hour, we called it quiets and went our separate ways.

I headed up to mine and Lily’s room, and she was passed out with her hand on her stomach. I brushed her cheek with my fingertips. She is absolutely perfect.

I saw a stack of baby magazines with circles and stars. I figured out the things with circles were things we absolutely needed, and the stars would depend on the gender.

I linked my mother asking if she could start stripping the conjoined room from our bedroom to start setting up a nursery. I wanted to surprise Lily. I took some pictures of things Lily circled, and mom said her and dad would start getting everything. She was beyond excited for the task.

I wasn’t sure how long we would be here. But I didn’t want to have nothing set up if the pups came before we left. But Lily was so unsure if the palace was the safest place for them.

Lily’s POV

The next few weeks went by pretty quickly. We learned the Rouges King name is Zack, and he plans on attacking the first of November.

Myles was relieved because it meant that I would be nineteen before then. Hopefully, it will be with some sort of power to help defend myself. Especially since I wouldn’t be able to shift in wolf form.

The only thing that worried me was being so very pregnant then. I would have only a month or so left. I could still cover my belly with loose flowy shirts, which I was grateful for, and we only had to wait one more week to find out the genders.

I wrote my mom a letter explaining everything we learned, and gamma Kevin was able to hand deliver it to her since he already had a pack business at the neon moon pack.

He said My mom looked good, worried, but good.” I guess that’s all I could ask for. I’m not sure what they are planning . But gamma Kevin said my mom would write back when her and my grandparents had a plan in motion.

Everyone came by our room to watch another movie. It was pretty much what we did every night, and it was getting really boring. We all desperately wanted to get out.

Amber banged her head on the wall a few times. “Can we please, please go out to one club. I doubt anyone would do anything with the beta, gamma, and two warriors. Plus, we all know how crazy I kinda can be .

Conner snorted. “Kinda?”

She squinted her eyes and glared at him. “The point I’m trying to make is Lily would be all around protected, and no one has to know besides mom that we’re going out. It’s Friday, and I wanna dance so bad.”

I saw the guys linking each other. They weren’t exactly being sneaky about it.

Myles spoke first. “We can go to the country club. It’s probably the safest, and if we feel any possible threat we leave, no questions asked, just get our asses in the truck and go. Got it, Amber?”

She pouted. “Why and you singling me out?”

“Because we all know Lily would listen, unlike you.”

She sighed. “Okay, fine, you have a deal.” She squealed and took off to her and Brodys room to get ready.

We agreed to meet back here in an hour.

I decided on a flowy fall colored floral dress, a jean jacket, and my cowgirl boots.

Myles came out of the closet. in just his wrangler jeans and a belt. I swear I about had to wipe the drool off my chin.

Goddess his ab muscles. I just wanted to rub, k**s, and lick each and every one.

He purposely flexed his muscles and winked at me. “All yours, baby.”

“Is it bad, I suddenly don’t want to go out and just want to sit in this chair and watch you shirtless and in those jeans.”

“The only way we’re staying in is if I can get out of these jeans.”

“Well, maybe eventually.” He bent down to k**s me, and I grabbed his a*s with both hands.

We heard a few throats clear, and I looked around Myles to see Landyn and Amber.

“Don’t you ever knock , Amber.”Myles rolled his eyes.

“Not when you tell us to meet you here. We’re actually late.”

Myles looked Amber up and down. “Does Brody know you’re wearing that.”

“No, not yet anyway. He went to help Conner clean out his dad’s truck so he could put up the middle seat in the front. That way, we can call ride together.”

Amber was in a red halter top that went super low, showing off her cleavage and shorts that her a*s about popped out of the bottom and her cowgirl boots. Myles made me grab her a white jean jacket to help cover her up some. Not that it would help much.

We all headed down together to meet them at the truck.

Amber jumped in the back before Brody could get a look at what she was wearing. Which forced me to ride up front in the middle. Brody gets car sick and has to ride up front. So he sat next to me while Conner drove.

Amber and Myles were silent, fighting the whole way there, waving their hands and linking. We heard a few slaps and Landyn snickering. Brody and Conner glanced at me, and I gave an awkward smile. “siblings, huh.” Was all I could think to say, and Brody shook his head.

We reached the club twenty minutes later in practical silence.

Brody helped me out of the truck. When he looked over and noticed Amber, she already had the jacket off. “What the f**k are you wearing?”

She raised an eyebrow. “Whatever I want to.”

“Hell no, were going home, right now.”

Amber ignored him and headed for the security guards to get in. Brody looked me up and down and sighed. “Why cant she dress like you and not try to give her mate a heart attack. I’m going to end up murdering someone tonight for looking at her.”

Landyn patted his shoulder. “Let’s keep the b***d shed to the minimum. You know how Amber can be. She loves making you jealous.”

We walked in and found a table that would fit all of us. Brody was right everyone was checking Amber out . Least I know tonight will be eventful.

I took off my jacket and Myles kissed my check. “You look so beautiful sweat heart.”

Conner put his arm around me. “You really do Lil. Now if you see me with a not so good girl we need a signal so I can bolt.”

I shook my head. “I’ll try my best to make sure you end up with a good girl. He winked at me and took off.

Reba Mcentires “Forever Love came on over the speakers. Myles grinned. Well Lily what do you say, it was the first slow song we danced to.”

I took my hand into his. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

It felt different being back here and dancing with him, but in a good way.

He pulled me close, and we danced for a moment before I noticed Ben at a corner table with Brooke and Lexi. I smiled at him. He gave me a small wave, and I waved back at him.

I saw the hurt in his eyes. Even if he was trying to hide it. I still knew him. Least part of him. We may of dated, but I knew him well before then.

I felt Myles tense up realizing that Ben was here. What I didn’t expect was for Ben to walk up to us on the dance floor. “Can I cut in? Just for a minute.”

Myles looked beyond pissed. “No you can not.”

Ben looked at Myles with desperation in his eyes. “I just want to apologize, please.”

I made Myles turn and look at me. “Baby it’s okay. Just two minutes and you can stand right over there watching.”

He looked hesitant at first, but finally agreed.

Ben put his hand awkwardly on my side. “You look gorgeous tonight.”

“Umm, thank you.”

It was quiet for a moment and we both just listened to the song playing.

“Lily, I’m not any good at apologizes but I know I owe you one. I shouldn’t of cheated on you or dumped you like that. I honestly didnt think i could of gone through with dumping you if i heard your voice. You didn’t deserve that and you most definitely didn’t deserve to be hit. I was just overwhelmed in my own hurt and I took it out on you and that never should of happened.”

I saw Myles watching intenty. I knew he was listening to the whole thing. He didn’t want Ben to spiral again.

I looked up in his big green eyes. “Its okay, I mean its not okay what you did or how you handled things. But I cared for you once. I like to think that how you acted isnt who you are now. I’m not saying I forgive you right now. But with time I think I could.”

He looked at me sincerely. “I would like to be friends again someday, with all of you really. Seeing you all hanging again. I’ve realized I missed you all. All the laughs, the endless movies, Amber’s mouth, the pranks on Conner and the purple eyeshadow. “

I actually laughed . “Purple eyeshadow, you saw that fully then?”

Ben laughed with me. “Yeah, for a moment I felt sixteen again watching you guys.”

I see Myles face softened. He heard every word Ben said and I was glad.

I looked back and Ben. “Maybe we will get there some day.

I rested my head on his chest, not knowing what came over me. We danced the rest of the song in silence.

Myles was next to us the moment the song was completely over. He cleared his throat. “Can I have her back now?”

Ben gave him a heart warming half smile. Even if he did look slightly heartbroken. “She’s all yours now.” He patted Myles on the back.

I could tell Myles was shocked. We watched him head back to his table where Brooke and Lexi were still sitting, they looked like they were ready to kill me.

I saw Louise and Conner having a heart felt conversation at our table. It looked like they were making amends.

We danced for few hours and we all decided to call it night.

When we headed out to the truck Conner noticed all the tires on the truck were flat. “What the f**k?”

That’s when i smelt it. “Rogues.”

We were parked alittle ways from the road and near the woods. Myles pulled me to the back of him, with his arm draped out in the front of me.

Conner took a stance in front of me next to Myles. Then I heard them. “Well, well princess you have quite the security detail. The beta and the gamma. Too bad you all are clearly out numbered.”

I grabbed onto Myles shirt hard. My heart was racing. I couldn’t shift and I had no sort of power to protect myself. I was useless. What the hell were we thinking coming out.

Amber was making a gagging sound. I honestly thought she was close to puking. “Goddes why do you all literally smell like you rolled in old kitty litter.”

I had to hold back a smirk. I swear this girl. I heard Conner snort. Clearly amused as I was.

The rogue got pissed, which brought my anxiety and fear back.

He went to punch Amber and she grab him by the wrist and twisted his arm behind his back. “Did I say I wanted myself to smell like f*****g kitty litter. I should also mention I’m a gammas daughter and have been fighting my whole life. She snapped his neck.”

Brody grabbed the binge of his nose. “Amber why are you always starting fights?”

More rogues came out of the woods and Landyn roared loudly and clearly linking someone. “Brody they were gonna fight either way, there here to take Lily. No matter who dies. Least she took one out.”

Myles and Conner took a protective stance over me again. Blocking my view of any rogues.

I tried to peak around them as best I could. Landyn shifted and was taking out four rogues himself. There had to be at least thirty or more.

What shocked me the most was Amber was a killing machine. She stayed in human form and had a small dagger. She was piercing hearts and breaking necks like it was nothing. I mean I guess I shouldnt be that shocked she is crazy and a gammas daughter.

They had about twenty rogues killed when more starting coming out of the woods. There was no way they could take them all with out help. They needed Conner and Myles.

Quite a few rogues started to approach us closer. Conner was already starting to fight off the ones that got to close.

He started to get out numbered and I knew he needed Myles help. But before I could tell him to go to Conner. A golden colored wolf came sprinting and ripping the neck off one that was on Conners back.

After the threat was off Conner, the wolf shifted. It was Louise. “What’s going on?”

Conner shifted back to. Louise couldn’t link us and it was the only way we could talk. “There after Lily. She’s uh, shes sepcial.”

Louise looked irritated and confused. “What do you mean she’s special.”

I saw more rogues approaching us. “Oh my goddess, I’m the fricken missing princess. I’ve been in hiding at the black moon pack. Now turn around.”

Louise looked shock at first but then relieved like all the missing pieces were put together now. She nodded at me and shifted back and starting fighting the rogues again with Conner, trying to keep them away from me as best they could.

Few rogues got past them. They got a few feet from us and Myles never left his stance in front of me. “Well Looks like your all out of help princess besides the gamma.”

That’s when I heard it. The largest roar I think I’ve ever heard. I knew instantly that it was Ben. I saw Myles smirk. “We also have an alpha and i gaurantee you hes not going to let anything happen to her either.”
