Chapter 51

Lily’s POV

It hasn’t even been two days, and I’ve been worried sick about Landyn and them.

I know Myles has been giving me questioning looks, but I dont exactly get it myself. Ever sense Landyn came back. I feel uneasy and unprotected somehow when he’s not around.

I know Myles is very capable of protecting me, which is why this feeling is so odd. There’s no sexually desires or attraction there. At least not anymore since me and Myles have been together.

I tossed and turned last night, even when I was tucked into Myles arms. I just couldn’t shake the feeling of something not feeling right. I could tell Myles was trying not to be jealous. He knows me and Landyn are close, and it’s never been anything more than just friends.

I guess it could come across a little weird. I mean, I spent more time with Conner and Brody than I ever did with Landyn. He spent two years at alpha school with Ben, and as soon as he returned, there was an instant bond between us.

Even back in high school, when I was in a relationship with Ben, we barely talked. He was more of the reserved stoic type, and I was really shy myself. There was absolutely no logical reason why his return would make this bond between us.

But here I was, still laying in bed, completely exhausted from not sleeping the night before. Feeling slightly lost and confused. Every part of me knew when he returned that I would feel better.

Myles came in with breakfast. We’re still avoiding going downstairs and dealing with Luna Meghan. I’m not exactly complaining. I feel huge. I’m not waddling yet, so I guess that’s a good sign.

I stayed still feeling like I was unable to sit up. Myles grabbed onto my hands and helped pull me up so I could lay my back against the headboard.

Myles tucked a hair behind my ear that fell out of my messy bun. I knew I looked a wreck. “How you feeling, baby?”

“Oh, you know, like I have two watermelons sitting on my bladder. I’m just really tired. I don’t like them being gone and not knowing if they are safe.”

I didn’t have the heart to tell Myles I was the one who was feeling unsafe. I knew it would hurt his feelings, and he would read too much into it. When i didn’t exactly understand it myself. I know he wouldn’t let anything happen to me or our pups.

“They should give us an update in a little bit. They are headed to Esme cottage after breakfast. “

“I know, I’m sorry. I’m worrying so much.”

“Baby, it’s okay, I know you love all of them, and I know you hate putting anyone in danger in order to protect you.”

“Yeah, I really hate feeling defenseless. “

“Okay baby, why don’t you just rest today. I’ll have Amber come over, and you guys can spend the day resting and watching movies. My mom is having dresses sent over to her room later for you girls to try on for your birthday party. But Ben’s asked me to go talk to his dad with him in case things esclate .”

I huffed. ” Yeah, not like anything will fit. They might have to sew two dresses together.”

I saw Myles try to cover up his grin. I knew I was being dramatic. I’m just getting to the really uncomfortable stage.

He sat down on the edge of the bed and kissed my forehead. “You’re anything but fat. You’re carrying our pups perfectly, and I’m so proud of you for that. Im not sure i would ever be able to do it.”

“Damn it. He always knows the right thing to say and when I need it.”

I leaned in to give him a k**s. He took my lips hungrily into his. We haven’t been as s****l as I would like. He’s more worried about me and the pups and putting me into labor before this weekend. I could tell he was craving my touch.

I knew he wouldn’t take things far no matter how badly I wanted him. I ran my hands through his hair and pulled him closer to me. I arched my body towards him. I slowly ran my tongue over his lips. So he would give me access to his mouth. He eagerly opened his mouth for me, and we fought dominance with our tongues. I started to rub one hand down his chest and torso, slipping my hand under his shirt to feel the heat of his skin. He jumped back abruptly.

“Woah, woah, woah, i know what you’re doing here, Lily. not going to work.” He was red in the face and flustered.

I couldn’t help but smile in my small victory. “Oh, come on, the doctor said it is fine.”

He g*****d. I could tell he was struggling. “She also said that it could cause you to go in labor because you’re so close.”

I crossed my arms and started to pout. I knew I was being overdramatic again. I was just desperate for his touch. “I’ll remember this, Myles Cooper.”

He laughed at me. “Oh, I’m sure you will.”

“You just wait, I’ll get you back.”

His smile turned to a frown like he knew I would keep my word. I was the one smiling now. “Not so funny now, is it?”

He mumbled something under his breath that I couldn’t make out.

“What was that?”

He gave me a guilty grin. “Oh, nothing, Ben’s linking me to go now.”

“Oh yeah, I’m sure he was.” I shook my head at him.

Before I could harass him anymore, there was a knock at our door. Myles opened the door quickly, probably relieved to see whoever saved him from me.

He opened the door, and Amber was on the other side. He pulled her into a hug, and she rolled her eyes. Now he’s the one being dramatic.

She looked at me confused. “What was that about?”

I yelled out as he was leaving the room. “He’s made because I keep trying to seduce him.”

Amber let out a snort. “How is he holding up resisting?”

“Apparently, just fine. He has better control than i do.” I yelled out, hoping he wasn’t that far gone.

“Don’t worry, probably all those pregnancy hormones. “

I stuck my tongue out at her.

Ben’s POV

I knew it was time to tell my dad after I heard Landyn tell Myles about moving Lily’s dad and our little sister Maddy to my moms old pack.

I debated calling my grandfather, but I wasn’t sure how far his loyalty would go to protect my mom.

My dad, however, doesn’t do well with betrayal. I think as soon as he hears everything, he will be on our side. He’s always wanted a daughter and finding out he has one. I know he would do anything to get her here safe.

I just need to get him to sit long enough to hear the whole thing and the plan that we all came up with. I know as an alpha that he would want to take charge, but I really need him to trust me in all this.

If I was bringing up Maddy, I knew it was time I would have to bring up Landyn to. It was time for him to accept all his children. Even if he didn’t know about Landyn till recently.

I linked Myles to go with me in case things go sideways. I think between the two of us, we should be able to contain my dad if he decides he can’t listen to the very end.

Myles met me on the alpha floor outside my Dada office. He looked a little rattled. He just shook his head at me. “Don’t ask. Are you ready for this?”

“I guess as ready as I’ll ever be.”

I knocked on the door to his office. He didn’t come to the door, just yelled, “What!” I worked up some courage and turned the door handle.

He seemed shocked to see me but even more shocked to see Myles next to me.

For once in his life, he seemed concerned. “Everything okay, boys?”

I cleared my throat. “Dad, I have to tell you something, but I need to let me get to the very end before you react.”

He nodded and folded his hands together and set them on his desk. His face was soft, and for once, he was not angry where I could actually look at his features. He was getting older, more grey than I remembered. I couldn’t remember the last time I really looked at my dad in the face. I usually tried to avoid his gaze.

“Ben, I’m actually honored that you would trust me enough to come to me. I’ve made a lot of stupid choices. Including almost getting on board with killing Myles. Which I’m truly sorry about. But before you go any further. I was at our construction company for a meeting when your uncle Remi came to visit me.”

“So you already know?”

“Oh, yeah, I already know. I just wish I was a better father, so you could have come to me sooner. I was so consumed in power that I wrecked any chance of happiness for you. I knew you loved Lily , least deep down I did. I should have just accepted it.”

Myles shifted in his seat, uncomfortable where this conversation had gone.

My dad noticed and shifted his gaze to Myles. “I don’t mean any disrespect towards you and Lily. I know you guys are mated and happy, and I also know Ben is okay with it. I was just simply apologizing for my part in all of this.”

Myles nodded and seemed to relax in his seat a lot more.

“My dad brought his gaze back to me, and I gulped. “Ben, I understand why you didn’t come to me before now. But Remi tells me that you guys already have a plan in motion, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

“Dad, truthfully, I’m kind of shocked you haven’t gone crazy on mom yet.”

“From what Remi said, you pretty much had everything covered.”

Are you not upset about Maddy?”

“Whos Maddy?”

“Wait, when did you talk to Uncle Remi?”

“Oh, um, the day after you got released from the hospital. Why?”

Me and Myles looked at each other. Remi clearly didn’t inform him of everything, or maybe he didn’t know yet. Either way, I was least going to have to break that to him.

“Dad, I know about Landyn. I know he’s my brother.”

“I kind of wondered. I actually wanted to talk with him and you about announcing it to the pack. You would still keep your title. He just deserves for him to have the alpha respect as well. I was informed he was leaving for a few days. Any idea as to of where.”

“Yeah, I do, and I promise I’ll explain that part in a moment. “

He looked at me confused finally. “Okay?”

“You know mom had two other sons, right?”

He clenched his fists. “Yes, Remi informed me of that and of Lily and Myles killing one.” He gave a small grin to that.

“Okay, well, mom also had a daughter. She’s four.”

“Why didn’t Remi mention that.?”

“Because he doesn’t know, or maybe he knew and figured I should be the one to tell you, but also because she’s not the rogues kings daughter, she’s yours and the rogue king is using that against mom, Just to keep her in line. She was already doing all of this at her own free will. But the moment she questioned him, he pulled that card.

He scrunched his eyesbrows, and I saw his claws start to form out of his hands. “How do you know this?”

I looked at Myles and put my head down. “I can’t say. It’s not my place to tell you.”

He nodded and understood my loyalties. “Okay, I take it about how calm you are that you have some sort of plan to get Maddy?”

“Working on it, but yes. Mom is planning on moving Lily’s dad, Maddy , the witches grandson, and a few other prisoners to moms old pack out the outer skirts. She said that Grandpa would have no idea that they were there if they didn’t keep it heavily guarded. I think the royals will be taking care of getting them out, and they plan on sending warriors here to hide out for the when the rogues attack.”

“What about the witches’ grandson?”

“The witch mom and the rogue king have been using for their potions and posions and the spells around the pack is actually being forced to do those things by holding her half breed grandson captive. Louise has a witch friend that is part of a local coven. Landyn, Conner, and Louise went with her to pursue the witch to change sides. It’s how they learned about her grandson Ace.”

“Well, is she going to help?”

“Yes, in exchange for helping get her grandson out.”

“Landyns got it covered then?”

“Yeah, they have to stay there a few extra days. The potion takes a while to make. Maureen, Louise’s friend is going to help Esme.”

“Esme is the older witch, right?”

“Yes.”

Okay, wow, this is a lot. I honestly wasn’t expecting her to be this clever. I just had no idea who I was mated to. But what potion are they making?”

“One that will make anyone immune from the other potions that mom and the rogue king plan on using. They just have to drink it before.”

My dad grabbed a whiskey bottle and three glasses and poured us all a drink. He took a large gulp. “You know your mom said that she couldn’t have any more kids. I wanted more, a lot more. I’ve actually been thrilled to find out about Landyn. But a four year old little girl she still has a chance of a better life and not with rogues. I want to raise her, Ben. i want to fix everything. “

“What about mom?”

“We know her fate. I’ll kill her if you need me to. I wouldn’t ever ask you to do such a thing. I at first thought maybe she could love me after her fated mate got killed, and then I found out she killed him herself. Which I thought was for me. But that wasn’t true either. I’m starting to see it was all for herself. I may be a selfish man. Even a power-hungry man. But I would never murder my own child or get on board for it to be done. I hope you know that.”

He looked so sad and genuine. “I know that, dad.”

Me and Myles got to witness the big bad Alpha himself she’d a tear. I actually felt kind of bad for him, and he’s done a lot of stupid things..

“As soon as Remi told me what she tried to do, I knew what needed to be done. I just hope you will be able to forgive me.”

“I already do, dad.”

He took another large gulp from his drink.If you boys don’t mind, I just need some time to process all the new information. “

“Honestly, I had a really hard time with everything, too. I just choose to believe everything will get better.”
