First Love Of The Alpha -
Chapter 58
Luna Meghans POV
I was burning through another pack of cigarettes. My nerves were catching up to me here lately. I just haven’t been able to shake the feelings that something is off or I’m missing something all together.
Rodger has been good for nothing drunk ever since I told him Landyn was his son. All i get from him is mumbles, and one word replies when I try to talk to him.
The last few nights he’s been passing out in his office drunk. You can just smell the whiskey lingering in the room as soon as you open the door.
He’s really the least of my concerns right now. He’s too stupid to notice anything .
My main worry is Ben. He hasn’t talked to me since Lily’s birthday. Basically, he avoids me at all costs, and when he does see me, he acts like he doesn’t and goes in the opposite direction.
I’ve tried talking to him a few times, but every time I knock on his door, he’s never there. I’m not even sure if he is sleeping there anymore.
I know he has to know something just by the way him and his friends were treating me in the hospital. My gut is telling me they do.
I know they didn’t know anything crucial. The only person who knew anything was Brooke, and she only knew the bare minimum, and she was sent away. I don’t even think she had time to talk to Lexi.
Other than that, I was always alone in my office for every conversation I had with my love.
His whole group of friends were avoiding me honestly. None of them came down to the dining hall to eat, and if I happened to see them, they were always getting food to go.
I never saw Lily at all unless I happened to pass them on the way for a check-up on her baby.
She’s basically stays cooped up in her room. They all do, really.
I’m ready to have this whole thing over with truthfully. I keep telling myself that Ben distancing himself from me is probably what’s best. I knew after tonight he wouldn’t know who I was anyway.
I hated that I have to give up our relationship, but there’s really not much of one anyway these days. Maddy needs me, and my other son deserves to have me more than a few days a month if that.
I know he’s a grown man, but when he becomes king, he will need me. He’s lived as a rogue his life. He’s going to need to learn some kindness and grace if he’s going to fool everyone at the palace.
I bribed one of the omegas at the palace to tell me if the royals have any idea about the where abouts of their son and granddaughter, and she’s reassured me there acting as they always did. They never mentioned anything about either of them.
It kind of shocked me that Lily never even reached out to them after she found out about the royals, and honestly, she acts like her mom is completely fine.
I just find it odd. Maybe she’s in shock and not ready to deal with the loss. Either way, it’s made my life easier. I just can’t believe her grandparents haven’t gotten word about her being here.
I had Esme make extra potions just in case we need to use them if the royals got word about Lily being mated to Myles and her pup. I needed them to think that it was my sons pup, including Lily.
Esme assured me that as soon as Lily gets hit with the potion, her mark will disappear. Then, the second potion she will have to drink and instantly lock eyes with Andrew, my other son, to think that he is her mate.
All this work, just to make sure one of my sons can end up king and i can be with my fated mate. I wish we knew Esme before I got pregnant with Ben and Andrew. Things wouldn’t have been so complicated. Hiding my pregnancies was not easy. Getting pregnant was the only reason we found a witch in the first place. It wasn’t exactly planned. But I knew Nathan wanted a family, and he found a way to make sure it could happen.
All the vials were handed out. I was just grateful they were all different colors. It was easy to tell them apart.
Only me, my son, and Nathan had the vials. We couldn’t trust anyone else. Rogues are too unpredictable, and honestly, one of them probably would use them for their own selfish needs.
Besides, as soon as they hit with the potion, we will have to tell them what to forget so they least have most of their memories.
I already had it planned out in my head, what I was going to tell Ben. I plan on telling him that his mother died in an accident when he was two and that she loved him deeply. I also needed to tell him that he never got in a relationship with Lily and to forget that she was his fated mate. She was just some girl he went to high school with that was friends with your gammes sister.
I plan on killing Myles and Rodger tonight. All he would know was that Myles and his dad were killed in a rogue attack, and he would be taking over as Alpha. At least he would have that, and I could watch from afar.
As much as I want to kill Lily, I know she was beneficial for my family. I just hate that I’ll have to play the caring mother in law, when really I hate her guts for everything she’s done.
I’m going to have to tie up any loose ends. Unfortunately, Brooke and Esme will have to be killed. The rouges are planning on attacking the warrior camp with the only purpose of taking Brooke out. It will be the day after this attack, so they have a little time to rest up and eat.
I put out my last cigarette and straightened my dress. I guess it’s time to put on a show.
Brodys POV
I came out to wait with palace warriors. We all agreed that someone should be out here with them waiting so we could have communication between us and them.
I was more of the obvious choice. I was quiet and often disappeared during parties anyway. I was most likely the one that would go unnoticed by Luna Meghan.
Conner volunteered, but we all agreed that every single pack member would notice his absence. He’s just to fricken loud and never shuts up with the jokes.
Most of the warriors were hidden in the trees. Thanks to Landyn and listening to Luna Meghans’ thoughts, we knew they were coming. in from the west.
I had hope that we would stay undetected by them, and if not, I guess it will be starting early.
I got a wif of a familiar scent. I knew instantly that it was Brooke.
I’m not sure if She’s brave or just plain stupid to come back here.
I quietly moved in the direction she was coming from and hid behind a tree. She should run past me, and when she does, I’m going to figure out what the hell she’s doing here. I was a little ways from the warriors by I was checking ground.
I wasn’t just the packs top warrior. I was there tracker, too. I knew I would smell them long before they smelt me. It would give me enough time to get back and warn the rest. I stayed pretty close regardless.
I was in human form, but I was ready to shift if needed. I was just relieved that Esme put a scent blocker in ours, so I knew Brooke wouldn’t be able to smell me.
I just wish we could have given it to all our warriors, but I knew Esme and Maureen did what they could.
I waited patiently in place.
She walked by slowly. In human form herself. I could tell she was nervous. But I was shocked she hadn’t smelt the palace warriors yet. I figured she would be panicking with all the new scents. I guess they were still half a mile away from us.
I kept my voice low. “What are you doing here, Brooke?”
She jumped forward, whipping her body around and holding her chest. “Damn it, Brody, did you have to scare me?”
“Kinda yeah. Brooke, Landyn knows you escaped. Do you have any idea the agony you’re causing him. He sent you away to save your life, and you’re here because why? To try to hurt Lily and Myles again?”
She shook her head quickly. “No, I’ve come here to warm my brother and the others of Luna Meghans plans, and to openly admit my part in it. Even though Landyn somehow found out about some of it.”
I felt like she was sincere. She never could keep a secret, no matter how hard she tried her face, usually giving it away some.
“Brooke, we already know everything and then some. I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to stay with me. We can’t spook Luna Meghan.”
She looked confused. “But what about the pack? The rogues are coming tonight.”
“Brooke, I know that’s why I’m out here. Just trust me that we have it handled.”
She hesitated. “Okay.”
“Oh and Brooke, if you try to link or warn Luna or Lexi, I was given orders to kill you.”
She didn’t look mad. All she said was, “I figured. by whom?”
“Your brother.”
She gulped but didn’t say another word.
I led her back to where the warriors were at. Her eyes bulged. Before either one of us could say anything. The werewolf king himself came through the trees. I didn’t know he was coming.
The aura he was giving off was lethal. He was more intimidating than I could have ever imagined. His voice was deep and husky. His black hair had grey streaks coming through, and it was longer than I expected and slicked back. He had a long beard and was pulling his fingers through it when he saw me.
“Brody, i assume, im so glad to finally meet you. Raya talks highly of you. I made sure she gave me plenty of details about Lily and her friends. I hear you’re quite the warrior and tracker.”
Brooke looked at me, stunned. “You’re a tracker?”
I looked at her and then back at the king. “Yes, sir. Sorry about her. I don’t tend to advertise that. Very few people know.”
“Well, my apologies. Who is this young shewolf you have here with you. I know she’s not your mate. Raya said Amber is red head and a firecracker. ” He laughed at himself over the last part, he said.
I gulped, hoping Raya hadn’t mentioned Brooke to him. I know Lily was writing to her mom a lot, so I know there’s a good chance she already knew. I’m just grateful Raya wouldn’t use a phone. She was too scared to be tracked, not that she cared for them either way. But right now, I was hoping it would be an advantage for me.
“This is Brooke.”
“Brooke? As in Brooke, who tried to have my granddaughter and her pups taken by rouges?
Well s**t, he knows.
I didn’t even answer. He was quick and had Brooke by throat against a tree. She was dangling in the air and scratching at his hand to set her free.
“I thought my granddaughter was kind enough to help her dear friend, your brother send you off to warrior camp. But I must warn you. I’m not as kind and gracious as Lily. If it was up to me, I would slit your throat or gut you on the spot.”
“My king, she game back to warn her brother and Lily about Luna. I’m not sure how much truth there is to that. But Landyn offered me to kill her if she linked or warned Luna or lexi. She’s one of my best friends, sister, one of Lily’s best friends and guardians, sister. Lily would want to give her a chance to redeem herself. It’s just who she is.”
“My opportunity to get to know who she is was taken from me by the Luna of this pack and the Rouge King. They took my son, my family, my life, and I want it back. I’m sorry, Brody, but I’m not willing to risk my family again. “
f**k, I thought he was going to snap her like a twig and he honestly could for how big he is. He was as big as Myles, maybe even more muscular.
He let out an icy cold aura that only a true royal could make. His eyes glowed purple, and his voice was deep and laced with venom that made me shutter.
” I Michael winters, King of the Werewolves command you Brooke Black to not link anyone in your pack and to not speak of anything you seen or heard tonight intill i deem fit.”
He dropped Brooke, and she landed on the ground, and she gasped for air. Part of me wanted to help her up, but the other part was relieved she’s finally getting consequences for her actions.
She may be trying to redeem herself. But I’ll have to see it to believe it.
King Michael placed his hand on my shoulder. “Thank you for stopping me just now. I don’t know my granddaughter, and I don’t want her to hate me before we even have a chance to get to know each other. I owe you one. You’re a good friend to look out for her and Landyn.”
I couldn’t help but beam over a compliment by our very own King. “Should I link them that you’re here? They weren’t expecting you to come. “
“Nah, let’s make it a suprise for everyone, shall we?”
I thought about telling him about Maureen, but in the end, I didn’t. It wasn’t my place to tell him, and I didn’t want to take anything away from Lily.
Honestly, I thought I was more worried about how he would react, and he is one scary wolf.
