Chapter 67

Amber’s POV

I watched Myles take off in a sprint with Lily. An older man followed closely behind him. I’m positive by the aura he was giving off that it was the king himself.

I gave Landyn a worried look. “She’ll be okay. She’s in labor. The Rouge king kicked her in the face, but he didn’t seem to cause any other harm to her.”

“Ben, now Lily. It wasn’t supposed to go down like this.”

Landyn placed his arm around my shoulders. “I know. At least the rogue king and Luna Meghan are dead. Now we just have to worry about Lexi. She has to be close. She’s been practically up Luna Meghans a*s.”

The rogues seemed to vanished and it was becoming uncomfortably quiet.

Silas was flung into the trees and was knocked out cold. Maureen dropped to her knees. She was clearly exhausted over what happened between her Silas.

Truthfully, I’m not even sure what was taken place, but I knew for sure that Maureen looked weak and tired.

Landyn went running in her direction now that it looked safe to do so. I followed right behind him. Mine was more of a fast walk. I was still pretty dizzy from the blow I took for the rogue king.

Maureen put her hand up to stop us. Her hand was shaking. “Just give me a moment.”

Landyn squatted to the ground but kept his distance. He just wanted to be eye level with her. She seemed to appreciate that.

It looked like sparks were coming from her fingertips. Her lips were trembling. “Did Lily get away? Is she okay?”

I nodded. “She’s safe. Myles and the king are taking her to the hospital. She’s in labor.”

Maureen put her head down. “I kind of wondered . She was acting weird, and I know teleporting is a lot. Just like you guys can’t shift during pregnancy, we’re not supposed to teleport.”

I felt my anxiety building, hoping Lily and the pups would be okay.

Maureen stood up slowly and brushed herself off. “Im okay.”

Landyn ran up to her and hugged her. I saw her body relax from his touch.

Maureen backed away frantically. “Where Silas?”

I pointed over where Louise and Conner were standing. We watched Conner poke him in the head with a twig. “I think he’s still alive.”

I couldn’t help but smile in the irony of that. I looked over to see Maureen smiling, too. We both lightly chuckled.

Landyn looked between us two.”What’s so funny?”

“Oh, nothing, you just had to be there.”

I looked around and realized whatever cloak type thing we were in was now down. I linked Doctor George. “Anything on Ben.”

He replied after a moment. “He still hasn’t woken, but he’s stable. I have to go miss Amber. I have quite a few warriors in here with injuries not healing properly, and Lily is going to be taken back for a c-section in a moment.”

I didn’t respond to him. Just kept it all to myself. Brody rubbed my shoulders. I knew he could feel how tensed up I got.

We all heard Silas g***n, and we headed in his direction. Conner had him by the throat against a tree.

Maureen walked in front of everyone. “What the hell were you thinking, Silas?”

Conner turned his direction from Silas to Maureen. “Do we kill him?”

Maureen shook her head. “You can’t. Not unless you want to declare war with our coven. His dad is the coven leader. Silas knows that to. Even if he is the i***t that was in the wrong. The coven still would want justice for its future leader.”

Silas gave an evil smirk that I just wanted to smack off his face. I honestly was considering it. I think Brody knew that to because he held me in place.

I squinted my eyes at him. But overall, I decided to let this one go.

Something caught the corner of my eye. I heard twigs and branches snapping, and I turned my gaze in that direction. I saw blondish hair, and my gut was telling me it was Lexi.

I ran towards her direction. I felt Brody directly behind me.

Lexi tripped on a large fallen down branch. I couldn’t help but snicker of how lucky i just got.

She turned her body around and started backing away from me. She looked terrified. Which actually annoyed me. She should have been scared long before now. She should have known it would end like this.

I twirled my dagger in my fingers again. I wanted her to know what was coming. I was going to make this as painful as I possibly could.

I took a few steps closer, and she kept backing away till she was against a tree. She was trapped, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Lexi started to beg. “Please don’t kill me. Just take me to the dungeons or send me to warrior camp with Brooke.”

I shook my head. “Brooke is dead, you dumb bimbo. She least died in honor and saved Brody. She learned from her mistakes. You just kept digging yourself deeper and deeper into the hole. Ben is in a coma because of you. Do you honestly think any of us would forgive you for that or send you away? You don’t deserve that kind of mercy.”

I watched her gulp. “How was i supposed to know he would end up in a coma?”

“Don’t play stupid. You know those knives were laced with something. you stabbed him twice,

intending to kill him.”

She looked past me to see who all was behind me. I knew she was looking for Myles to save her. She actually thought he cared. “Myles isn’t here. He’s with his mate.”

She looked shocked. “I take it you didn’t see Luna and the rogue king both get slaughtered? It’s over Lexi.”

I heard a yell from behind me. “Wait, wait!”

Andrew came up next to me. “I want to reject her first.”

“Yikes, sorry you got mated to her.”

Lexi was now standing and looking pissed. “I’m way better than you, Amber. I always have been. If it wasn’t for you and your w***e of a friend, I would be with Myles right now.”

I rolled my eyes. I wasn’t even going to encourage her to continue with these crazy delusions. I honeslty think she thought her and Myles would have ended up together.

Andrew looked at me. “What’s Lexis’ last name?”

I gave him a cunning smile. ” Kay Hooker.”

He looked at me confused. “Is that her last name, or are you calling her a hooker?”

“No, it’s her actual last name. It’s fitting for her, huh?”

Lexi growled at me, and I bared my cannies to her.

Andrew quickly spoke before me and Lexi ripped eachothers throats out. “I Andrew West Brinkley reject you Lexi Kay Hooker as my fated mate.”

I watched them both grab onto their stomachs, and Lexi shouted. “Fine, I don’t want to die mated to a rogue anyway. I, Lexi Kay Hooker accepted the rejection of you, Andrew West Brinkley, as my fated mate.”

They were both completely bent over in pain now. Andrew stood up first. He looked Lexi in the eye. “You know I prayed to the mood goddess every day that I wouldn’t be mated to another rogue. I think I would have lucked out better if I just was. You’re even worse than some rogues I’ve come across.”

Lexi l*p turned into a pout. “I hate all of you. One day, you will all get what’s coming to you.”

Brody and Andrew backed away from me. They knew I was ready. Lexi just looked like she was going to bolt at any given moment. Not that she would make it far.

Before, I could even take another step in her direction. I hear Conner yell “What the f**k?”

Silas appeared right next to Lexi and the two of them vanished before i even had time to react.

Maureen, Conner, Landyn, and Louise came running towards my side. I turn to face Maureen. “Please tell me you didn’t know that Silas could teleport to?”

She shook her head frantically. “I had no idea. When I talked to his dad Marvin, I was under the impression he was the one that could teleport, not Silas.”

Landyn nodded in agreement. “I was there. That’s what I took from that, too.”

I was more confused than ever. “Why did he take Lexi, though?”

Maureen shrugged her shoulders. “I honestly don’t know. I’m going to reach out to Marvin and let him know what’s going on. I would just teleport ,but I’m not sure what I would be walking into.”

“Let’s just head up to the hospital and check on how everyone is doing. Including the other pack members.”

Landyn tensed up. “I guess I’ll make the pack annocument through the pack link that the rogue king and Luna Meghan are dead.”

It’s usually the Alpha or the next in line to make the announcement. We all knew now that it would be Landyn.

Maureen seemed confused. “Why would you make that announcement. Wouldn’t Alpha Rodger do it, or wouldn’t Ben, if he wakes?”

Landyn looked guilty. “Before all this happened, I had a meeting with Ben and Alpha Rodger. Ben decided he wouldn’t be taking a chosen mate, but that was before we knew about you and him being second chance mates. If you’re rejected by your fated mate and don’t take a chosen you can’t become Alpha. Ben asked me to take the roll because I’m also Alpha Rodgers son. He didn’t want any ranked members title. So technically, I would be the next in line, and I can make the announcement. “

Conner spoke up. “He’s also the packs future beta, and with Ben in the hospital, I don’t think anyone would make a big deal about it.”

Maureen looked beyond hurt. “So he was just giving up? So if you’re the future Alpha, then who’s the future beta and gamma?”

“It hasnt been announced yet. None of this has.”

Brody spoke kind of harshly, but that was just how he spoke. “I don’t think Ben ever really wanted to be Alpha. I think he was just doing it because it was his birth right. His heart was never truly in it.”

Maureen glared at Landyn. “Okay, how can you be Alpha and be my and Lily’s guardian?

Landyn spoke calmly. “This all can be discussed later. I don’t have all the answers yet. Let’s just head to the hospital.

Myles POV

I sprinted towards the hospital with Lily in my arms. I felt the King following me, and I knew he waited this long to see Lily he wasn’t about to leave her side now that he found her.

We finally were reaching the pack house when Lily started to wake. She was groaning in pain.

Her voice was raspy and barely above a whisper. “Myles?”

“I’m here, baby. We’re almost at the hospital.”

There was still b***d draining from her nose and into her mouth. I tried to wipe it quickly before she tried to speak again. “Myles, it hurts so bad. The pups are coming.”

“I know, baby, I’m going. Just hang on a little longer.”

I finally reached the hospital doors, and Doctor Mel was waiting just on the inside for us. Her head was bandaged up. But she seemed to be okay. “Myles, I’m going to need you to put Lily down so I can examine her, okay?

I nodded and reluctantly put her on the hospital bed. Doctor Mel pushed her into the first room on the right.

Lily could hardly stay awake. Doctor Mel cut her clothes off, and her and nurse Kelsey hooked her up to monitors for her and the pups.

Doctor Mel got her legs up in stirrups. She wasn’t even down there thirty seconds when she came back up. “Okay, Lily is fully dilated and effaced. The problem is that the baby is breech. I’m going to have to do a c-section to deliver the babies, and truthfully, I don’t think Lily would be able to push right now anyway.”

Lily suddenly woke up again.”Myles.” She yelled in panic.

Doctor Mel and Kelsey were getting her ready to transfer her into the operating room.

“Baby, it’s okay. You’re going to have a c-section. Everything is going to be okay.”

They pushed her out of the room when I noticed King Michael sitting there with his hands in his face. He jumped up when he heard us exit. He looked at Lily frantically. “Sir, she’s headed for a c-section. One baby is breeched.”

I didn’t stop walking next to Lilys bed as they were pushing her towards the operating room. I hope he didn’t think that was a sign of disrespect. But Lily was more important to me than explaining everything to him right then.

They handed me a set of scrubs, and I put them on quickly. It didn’t take long for them to get everything sanitized and set up.

Lily reached for my hand. I could tell she was scared, but I was so relieved and happy that she was still awake. She looked up at me. “Don’t let go.”

“I won’t baby, I got you.”

Lily and I kept our eyes on each other. I could tell she was feeling something, but it looked more like discomfort than pain.

After a few minutes, doctor Mel spoke. “Alright, first pup coming out.”

After a moment, we heard the scream of our first pup.

Doctor Mel held the pup up. “It’s a boy!”

A perfect boy. Kelsey quickly cleaned him up and placed him on Lily’s chest. Tears were pouring down mine and Lily’s cheeks.

Doctor Mel spoke more chipper this time around. “Here comes baby number Two.”

I didn’t hear her screams and instantly started to panic.

I finally heard a quiet scream, and I felt my body relax.

Doctor Mel looked concerned. “I’m so sorry to tell you guys this, but I made a mistake.”
