First Love Of The Alpha
Chapter 70

Myles POV

I honestly wasn’t expecting Landyn to ask me to be his Beta, but I guess I should have seen it coming.

I knew Lily wanted to stay here. I just wasn’t sure if she would change her mind once her parents got here tomorrow.

When I looked over and saw her excited expression, I knew this was exactly what she wanted. She was practically glowing.

I knew her mind was made up. There was no leaving here.

Lily linked me.”Say yes already!”

I looked back at Landyn when I realized he had asked the question again. “I’m truly honored you asked me, and I gladly accept. “

He stood up, giving me a tight hug. He was really starting to come out of his shell some.

“This is just great. Are you okay with Alpha Rodger announcing it tonight?”

“Yeah, that’s fine. But if I’m going to be your Beta, who’s going to be your gamma?”

There was a long pause. “Just hear me out. I actually was thinking Conner and taking Brody

as a delta. I know Conner is all jokes and fun, but when it comes down to it, he takes things seriously. Plus, his relationship with Lily. I know he would die for her, which leads me to my next question.”

I could tell he was getting nervous. “Lily, I was hoping you would be my acting Luna until I find one. I know it’s a lot to ask. But you’re the perfect person for it. Another reason why I’m going to ask Conner is because I know he will protect you with everything he has.”

Lily jumped out of her seat next to me and ran to give Landyn a hug.”I would love to, Landyn. I would do anything to help you. I know nothing about being a Luna, though.”

Landyn put his hand on her shoulder. “I know you will be just fine. You have natural instincts. Besides, I don’t know much about being an Alpha. Besides what I learned when I was at Alpha school with the other betas and alphas. I wasn’t raised to be one, so I guess we can learn together. “

“Yeah, I think it will be a learning curve for everyone. “

I noticed Maureen sat oddly quiet. She seemed upset. I could tell Lily was too excited and was talking to Landyn to notice that her sisters mood was completely off.

Lily was jumping up in down. We were going to go get the books about being an Alpha, Luna, beta, and gamma and bring them down. Is it okay if we call everyone else up to tell them the news?”

Maureen shifted awkwardly. “Yeah baby, that’s fine. Maureen and i will stay with the twins while you go grab the books.”

They walked out once again, not noticing the tension coming off of Maureen.

“You want to talk about what’s wrong?”

She scrunched her eyebrows at me. “No, I talked to Landyn. This whole thing is just a lot. I just feel like im stuck here. Between Lily, Ben, and Landyn being my gaurdian. I’m just not sure what my purpose is here. I can’t help but feel like I don’t belong, but yet I’m pulled here because of all these people. I’m just torn.”

“What were you going to school for?”

“To be a nurse.”

“Then finish school if that’s what you want. Become a nurse. If you want to stay here, become a pack nurse. We could always use them, especially now. If you want a purpose, then make one. But don’t stay here if you can’t be happy. I think you could be though if you gave this place a chance. Just give it some time.”

She sat there quietly. “You’re right. That’s a great idea. It will keep me busy, plus give me some time to think about what I want to do about Ben.”

“What do you mean?”

“Whether or not I want to reject him.”

I actually got kind of pissed at her. “Maureen, that’s a terrible idea. At least right now. You know you could kill him, right? Besides, he still could heal. It just might take some time.”

“I thought you out of all people would understand a little more. I mean, I heard you had a hard time forgiving Ben for what he did.”

“But I did forgive him. Maureen, I think you should just take some time before you make a full-blown decision about Ben. Lily and I both think you guys would be great together. “

She got teary-eyed. “I’m just scared. I can’t put myself out there again and get rejected. I’m not sure I could make it through getting hurt again. Plus, Silas is still out there. I’m sure he will try to kill anyone i get involved with.”

I actually felt so sorry for her. “Maureen, are you wanting to give Ben a chance? I mean, if things were different?”

“I think if I could get to know him, I might, I just heard he was never going to take any sort of mate after Lily.”

“That’s not exactly true. He swore if he ever found he had a second chance mate that he would give it a chance. I really believe he would give you a shot, and honestly, I think he would love you, anyone who would be lucky to.”

The tears were pouring down her face now. “There’s a huge chance now that I’ll never find out. But there will always be that what if. “

“Are you planning on rejecting him then?”

“No, it’s not like he can accept it anyway. I’ll always feel this slight pull. I was really fine being alone anyway.”

“It’s different from before. You have a family now. You won’t ever be alone again. Besides, I’m sure your nephews will be obsessed with you.”

I could tell her mood was changing. “Yes, they can’t grow up without seeing their favorite auntie every day.”

I snorted. “I swear I won’t tell Amber you said that.”

“Yeah, please don’t. She probably would try to kick my a*s for the best auntie title.”

“Oh yeah, she really would.”

Landyns POV

Lily suggested that we go get the books out of the Alphas Rodgers office. Well, I guess my office now.

It honestly confused me why she would want them. I mean, for the most part, we all knew what the roll we were taking over was.

Lily, especially. She watched her mom work beside Luna Meghan for years. If anyone knew how to be a great Luna, it would be her.

She continued to walk anxiously next to me up to my office. Once we got inside, i took a seat. “So you gonna tell me why you made up an excuse for us to leave the room?”

I saw a look of guilt go across her face. “I can tell something is off with Maureen. I know she’s trying to hide it from me and I wasn’t sure if it was because she didn’t want to tell me specifically so I just pretended like I didn’t notice in hopes that Myles would talk with her.”

I was actually impressed. I think she might actually listen to Myles because she knows he hated Ben more than anyone and had a hard time getting over what he did to Lily.

“Well played, Lily bug well played.”

She smiled at me and took a seat across my desk. “So I take it you know what’s bugging her?”

“Yeah, I know a little. But i can’t help but think there’s more to it than what she’s telling me. “

” I could see that. I think I have an idea about what it is. Im just not sure if she will actually ever admit it. she’s just way too stubborn from what I’ve learned about her.”

I gave her a small smile as much as I hated to admit it. I knew it was reality. “So you think she actually might like Ben to?”

She gave me a small nod back. She was clearly unsure how I would handle it. “I think she’s mostly scared about getting hurt again.”

“I actually agree with you, Lil. I just hope she doesn’t reject Ben out of fear.”

Lily looked beyond pissed. “Wait, she was thinking of rejecting him? He could die from that.”

“No, I don’t think she’s going to. She just feels a little trapped right now. Like everything is out of her hands. Like she never had a choice.”

“I can understand that. But it wasn’t Ben’s choice to be in a coma either.”

“Lily, I think she might be slightly worried about your and Ben’s past too. I know you guys got in a good place now, but he was awful towards you for a while and still completely in love with you. He was fully aware and okay, never becoming Alpha, because he didn’t feel like he deserved to love anyone ever again. I’m just not sure if he has that will to wake up, and I think that’s what Maureen is worried about. She has a pull towards a man who might always be in a coma.”

“Even if she rejects him, he can’t accept she will always feel that pull. It honestly might cause her to never be able to move on. Does she know that.”

“I think deep down she does. Just might not say it.”

“This whole thing is just a huge mess. Plus, now our parents and grandparents are coming. I think she’s going to get really overwhelmed fast.”

“Provably so.”

“Well, hopefully Myles had a good talk with her. Should we link everyone and head back to my room.”

“Yeah, I think we gave them enough time.”

Lily seemed nervous again. “I do have one more question to ask you before we head down. How would you feel about inviting Andrew to join the pack at your ceremony? I think it would be really good for Maddy to have a familiar face around to make the transition a little easier for her.”

“I actually was already considering it. He never wanted to be a rogue. I know that. He’s proven himself when he helped us. We can ask him tonight if you want?”

“Yes, I would love that. Thank you, Landyn.”

I went ahead and linked everyone, and we headed back down to the beta and gamma floor. Then I linked one of the omegas to find Andrew and bring him to Lily and Myles room.

As we were walking, Lily casually asked. “Are you going to move up here?”

“I think eventually. I just wouldn’t ever want to take Ben or Alphas Rodgers’ room. Alpha Rodger said he was going to move into a smaller room, but it’s still really weird. “

“I’m sure we could redo it. Think of it as my first duty as Luna.”

“Yeah, that probably would make it a lot better. You and Myles can move in my parents’ old room if you want. It’s double the size you have now, plus two kid rooms.”

“Actually, that might not be a bad idea. Everyone is always in mine and Myles room anyhow. Thanks, Landyn.”

“Well, it’s technically yours anyway since Myles accepted the beta position.”

As soon as we opened the door to their room, Maureen already seemed a lot more relaxed and happier. I think Lily was right about having Myles talk to her.

The twins just woken up, so Lily went to the babies’ room to feed them while we were waiting for everyone else to get here.

Conners came and plopped down on the couch without knocking. I honestly shouldn’t be surprised. It’s just how he is. Louise shook her head at him, clearly disapproving over his behavior.

Amber and Brody came a little later. I swear that girl was never on time.

Once Lily came back out with the twins, Louise and Amber both snatched the babies up. I have feelings. There will be a lot more pups around shortly.

Conner looked impatient. “So you guys want to tell us what’s going on? Usually, when we have these little secret meetings, something is about to go down.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “There is something going on, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing.”

Amber was clearly sharing the lack of patience like Conner. “Okay, so tell us already.”

“Okay, well, for starters, Alpha Rodger is stepping down as Alpha and I will be taking over with a ceremony this weekend. Before anyone even asks, I have two years to find a mate. Next, I asked Myles to my Beta, and Lily will be my acting Luna until I can find my fated mate or take a chosen.”

Everyone was on the edge of their seats now, just listening intently.

“Which brings me to why I asked you all here. Conner, I was hoping you would become the next gamma and move up to this floor and take this room. I offered my parents and betas room to Lily and Myles. Also, Brody, I was hoping you would become the delta of this pack and move up to this floor as well.”

Awkward silence filled the room as they all looked around at each other.

Conner shot out of his seat and started to dance and then got very serious for a moment. “Hell yes. Of course I would accept. Does that mean I get to spend most of the time protecting Lily bug? “

“I laughed for the most part, yes, and help with the other pack members and assist in discipline and structure. Where Brody will work more with the warriors and training.”

Brody was more quiet than I would have liked. I was hoping he wasn’t upset. I didn’t ask him to be my gamma instead of Conner. Conner just had a better relationship with Lily right now, and I knew Amber was a good fighter and could really help Brody with the warriors. “So what do you say, Brody?”

Amber spoke up. “Well, if he doesn’t, I would still want to do it. I would love to boss the warriors around. “

We all laughed, and Brody got a big smile across his face. “You can count me in as your delta. Especially knowing I will get the best little assistant out there. “

He gave Amber a smirk, but she didn’t look thrilled at all. “We will see who the assistant will be out there.”

She started to pout, which all made us laugh even more.

There was a knock on the the door, and everyone was looking around, trying to figure out who was missing from the group. They all stayed seated, looking confused.

Lily got up to get the door. “Andrew, you made it. Perfect! Come on in.”

He looked ridiculously scared, which I’m not going to lie, amused me a little bit.

Lily gestured for him to have a seat, and he awkwardly did.

“Andrew I know you’ve been staying with the pack the last few days and I know your not welcome back with the rogues because of what you did for all of us, but how would you feel about joining our pack and becoming a warrior?”

Lily was beaming and nodded her head at him to accept. She spoke softly. “Plus, with your sister Maddy coming, you guys could be together. “

He sat there quietly trying to process everything, but I think mostly he was just shocked. “Are you sure it won’t cause you guys any problems to accept a rogue in your pack.”

“No, I’ll be taking over as Alpha this weekend, and I would love for you to become an official member then.”

He gave a real genuine smile. “I would love nothing more. This is all I ever wanted growing up. Thank you. Thank all of you.”

Lily ran and gave him a hug, and Myles let out a light growl that scared Andrew slightly.

I could tell Lily never talked to him about it beforehand, and he was clearly unsure about the whole thing. He got over Ben, so hopefully, he will get over this to.
