First Love Of The Alpha -
Chapter 71
Lily’s POV
I was frantically getting ready. I couldn’t decide what to wear or how to do my hair. I knew I was being completely ridiculous.
I’m sure my dad and grandma really don’t care what I put on or how I look, but for whatever reason, I’m obsessing over it.
I put on a fall colored blouse and cardigan and my favorite pair of jeans and boots.
Myles came in, giving me a knowing look. “No, no, no, I just had our twins.”
“You were literally fully healed by day two, and I miss you.”
“Well, that’s your own fault for holding out on me, and i literally just finished my outfit and hair that took me hours on to decide on. So, no way, Mr., not right now.”
He literally started to pout. “Fine, I understand I do. I’m just missing my girl.”
“Well, you’re going to have to miss me a little longer now, get changed. They should be here any minute.”
Myles came out of the closet in dark jeans and a flannel. I was practically drooling when I saw him, and so was my wolf. She actually tried to take over for a moment.
Myles gave me a sly smirk. He could sense my wolf pushing forward.
“See, baby, even your wolf wants me.”
I smacked his shoulder. “Later, I promise.”
It’s not common for wolves to go on days without any s****l content. Me and Myles have gone weeks now. I know we both needed to reconnect.
He kissed my marking spot that sent a shiver down my body and my wolf whining. “I’m going to hold you to it.”
I decided this would be a good chance to surprise Myles. I linked Sylvia. “Would you mind watching the twins for a couple of hours tonight? I have enough milk pumped for both of them.”
“Of course, sweetie, me and Grandpa will take them any chance we can get.”
“Okay, don’t tell Myles. I want it to be a suprise. With everything that’s happened, I just want to be alone with him for a little bit.”
She giggled through the link. She knew exactly what I was getting at. “I get it, sweetie. I’ve been there. I’m just glad you healed quickly.”
“Me too. I swear I was fine after the first day.”
“That’s common, sweetie. Pays off being a wolf. I’ll see you downstairs.”
I cut the link, and I noticed Myles was staring at me intently. Luckily, I got another link from Landyn letting me know they were here.
“Just Landyn. They just pulled in. Are you ready?”
“I think that question is more for you. Are you ready?”
“I think so. Let’s go grab the twins.”
We grabbed the boys, and Myles helped me put them in a carrier his mom bought me that went across my chest. They both instantly fell back asleep on my chest.
We opened the door to a very nervous Maureen. “I hope this is okay? I didn’t want to go down by myself.”
“Of course it is. I’m pretty nervous, too.”
Maureen rubbed her hand over Aidens’ head. “Okay, let’s do this.”
We headed down the stairs and noticed everyone was already in the large conference room.
We both stood outside the door, and Myles rubbed both of our necks. “You got this, ladies.”
I reached for the door handle and instantly locked eyes with a man with violet eyes, and I knew instantly who he was. I couldn’t fight the tears that were coming down my face.
He practically ran towards me. He looked down at the twins and pulled the three of us in a hug. “I’ve waited so long for this princess.”
I looked over to see my mom practically sobbing. I opened my arm for her to join. We hugged each other for a while. Everyone just letting us have our moment.
My dad pulled away first when he looked directly behind me. He was staring at Maureen.
My grandpa promised he would let us tell everyone about Maureen. He must have recognized her because he was in complete awe.
He looked confused. “Laura?”
I looked at my mom and saw the jealousy and confusion all over her face. But most of all, she looked angry. She snapped at me. “Why would you bring her here?”
Wait, did she know? “Mom, do you know her?”
She looked anxious. She knew she slipped up. “Yes, I do…. I found out about her a couple of years ago. But that still doesn’t answer the question of why Laura’s daughter is here?”
My dad looked even more confused and took his attention from my mom back to Maureen. “You’re Laura’s daughter?”
He sat down one of the chairs. My grandpa came up behind him and rubbed his back.
I’m not sure if my dad put the pieces together, but something was definitely spinning in his head.
I was pissed and I took the silence to ask my mom. “How did you find out about Maureen?”
“I didn’t know her daughter name till now. Her face is a spitting image of her mother. Remi was looking into information on your father. He went to ask the witches for help, which they instantly turned him down. He knew about Laura and and you’re dad. Hell, I think everyone did he wasn’t very good at hiding it. When he visited, they were celebrating her thirteenth birthday, and he put the pieces together. He knew she was with your father then.”
“Why didn’t you come clean about her when all of this came out?”
She looked guilty. “I was hoping you would never find out about her. I didn’t know about her mother and father passing till recently.”
“She lost her brother too. She is all alone.”
“I know that. But did you have to bring her now when you’re just meeting him again after all this time. The stress this probably brought him is not necessarily. He’s been tormented for years it could have waited.”
“No, no, it couldn’t. He’s her father, too. She’s been there for me. We’re sisters, and her and I are in this together. It’s not just about me or you. You are being so incredibly selfish. I don’t even know who you are right now.”
“Lily, don’t be ridiculous. I’m fine with them meeting. I just don’t think right now was the right time.”
My dad roared. His aura is coming off of him, and it silences everyone. “Shut up, Raya. Lily didn’t do anything wrong.”
She looked startled by my dad’s reaction. She gulped loudly. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry if I’m sounding selfish. I’ve been waiting so long to have my family together again. Just for a moment, I wanted normalcy. Not drama or chaos. Just the three of us the way it should have been.”
“Mom, it’s never going to be that. Dad has another daughter, and I have a mate and twins it was never going to be just us ever again. Waiting wasn’t going to change anything. Did you ever think about what you’re saying? It is hurting other people in this room, including me.”
Her face softened. “I’m sorry. I just need a moment. I’ve got to get out of here.”
Before anyone could say anything else, she was out the door.
I shook my head in disbelief that she really just acted that way.
Maureen looked like she was putting on a tough front, but I knew what my mom said hurt her.
My dad walked up to Maureen. “I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. She really was something else. I swear I didn’t know about you, Maureen. I would have fought to be in your life to be your dad.”
“I think it worked out for the best. Look what Lily’s been through. Plus, I’m a royal half breed with no werewolf genes. Do you really think that would have gone over well?”
My dad sighed. “Maureen, please don’t be like this. I would have been there. Im sorry you didn’t have a dad. Im sorry to both of you.”
My dad seemed to light a fire in Maureen because she looked pissed. “I did have a dad, and up till recently, I thought he was my biological dad. He was my mother’s beloved. I had a great life, the best life….That is till I lost everything to the stupid rogue king and my uncle who is still out there somewhere along with my crazy ex. So please don’t make it out that suffered without your presence in my life because truth is I haven’t.”
She walked out after that. Landyn came and put his arm around me. “She’ll come around. Just give her a minute. I’ve noticed she acts like this when she gets hurt. When i was at her coven, i noticed how much she was hurting she acted similar to how she’s acting now.”
“Okay.” All of this wasn’t going how I pictured it. It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
I looked around and noticed my grandpa in the corner of the room with a very petite older lady. Her air was all gray with a few dark streaks and was pinned up perfectly on top of her head. I walked towards them, and my grandpa gave me a large smile.
I looked at them both with sorrow. “I’m so sorry you guys had to see all of that. It wasn’t supposed to happen like that. All of this was supposed to be a happy moment, and it just wasn’t.”
My grandpa put his hand on my arm. “Lily, it’s okay. This would be a lot on anyone. Just let everyone cool off. Things will work out, I promise.”
I just nodded. He put his arm around the woman next to him. “Lily, this is my mate and your grandmother Lily. The women you’re named after.”
She carefully pulled me into a hug and tried not to disturb the twins. “I’ve waited so long for this, sweetie. It’s been a long time. I was hoping I would have been able to meet Maureen, but maybe later, when she will be more up for it.”
“I’m sure she will be. This is all just very new for the both of us. I didn’t know any of you even existed until a few months ago, and she just found it a week ago. I just don’t even think she’s let herself process all of it.”
I looked over at my dad, who had his hands on his forehead he was leaning on his lap. I hated to see him hurting more.
Grandpa looked down at me. “He’s been through alot sweetheart it might take some time for him to adjust. I promise he will get there.”
I nodded. “Do you both mind holding the twins? I want to talk to him.”
My grandma started to beam. “I would love nothing more.
I handed her Aiden.”This is Aiden and Michael.”
She looked up at her mate, and I saw tears forming in her eyes.
“And this little guy is Adam Benjamin. ” I placed him in my grandpa’s arms.
My grandma rubbed Adam’s head. “There are both so perfect, Lily. You did well.”
“I’ll be right over there.” I took off the carrier and handed it to Myles.
I walked up to my dad and got down on my knees in front of him. I moved his hands so he would look at me. “I’ve waited forever to hug my dad the proper way”
I wrapped my arms around him, and he stiffened at first and finally relaxed in my embrace. “I’ve missed you so much, kid. I just wish you could remember me.”
“The witch that did the spell was killed during battle. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get them back. I thought about asking Maureen, but she’s going through a lot right now, and it seemed selfish to ask of such a thing after everything she’s done to protect me already.”
He brushed the tears away that were slowly pooling out. “Lily, when you’re ready, I want to know everything about you. At least anything you’re willing to share. I’ve missed so much, and I just want to know as much as I can. “
“I can do that. Probably not today but really soon.”
He looked at the door. I could tell he was hoping Maureen or my mother would come back.
He shook his head. “I can’t believe how much she looks like Laura. That took me back for a moment.”
He cleared his throat. “Sorry Lily, I shouldn’t be talking about this with you. “
“Dad Maureens mom was your first love. Was she not?”
He nodded. “She was. She was a witch, though. It was even more frowned upon back then.”
I have to admit it was slightly odd to talk about this with him. But I understood it. He was young once. “Still stings, doesn’t it? Part of you will always love her?”
He looked at me, shocked. “We had a baby, and I had no idea. I hurt her so badly back then.”
“I know what that’s like. My first love is actually in a coma in the hospital. He betrayed me, and in the end, he protected me even when I was mated and marked to another man. We got in a good place, but it still stings from time to time, and it probably always will.”
“I guess we understand eachother alittle more than I ever expected. Im sorry for everything you’ve been through, even my part in all of this.”
“It’s okay. I feel like it’s made me who I’m supposed to be.”
“Your mom is just hurting. Laura has always really been a touchy subject for her. I know a father shouldn’t say this to their daughter about their mother, but part of my heart will always belong to Laura, but I made the logical choice. Your mom will never let go that she was my second choice. I do love her, though, Lily. It just wasn’t right away. Even with the pull of the mate bond. But in the end, I chose her. I was just very torn back then.”
“I understand more than you think, and I’m glad you told me. It actually makes me understand her more. “
“I made a choice back then, and she never was truly happy with the position I put her in. I think it startled her to see Maureen here and being a spitting image of Laura. I’m sure it’s brought up a lot of old feelings and insecurties.”
I never realized how complicated their relationship was, but then again, I thought he was dead my whole life.
I could see how confused he was, but most of all, how hurt he was. I could tell he really did love both women.
“I think you should tell Maureen all of this. I think she would like to hear about her mom.”
