Hiding With Her Twin Babies -
Chapter 77
As Jason sees his father running up the stairs with a new attitude towards life, Cathy is staring at her mother, who is holding her heart and leaning against the front door. Her cheeks are red, and she looks like she is sick. Cathy looks at her mother with worry in her eyes. Is her mother okay? Why does she look as if she is sick? Cathy hopes her mother has not gotten sick at the party. Maybe she ate something wrong.
“Are you okay, mommy?” Cathy asks.
“I am great, baby girl,” Eva says.
“Then why does it look like you are sick? Should I call a doctor?” Cathy asks.
“No, baby girl, I am feeling fine. I promise you. One day when you are older, you will understand what a man can do to your heart,” Eva answers Cathy. Cathy looks at her mother suspiciously. What did Jason’s father do to her mother’s heart? She had better talk to Jason because if his dad makes her mom sick, they had better not see each other again.
Jason is in his room in front of his PC when he sees Cathy calling him on his cellphone. The Mob alliance has each other’s phone numbers if someone attacks them. Jason frowns, as he can not think that they will have a war at this time of night, but he answers.
“Hi Cat, how can I help you?” Jason asks.
“Hi Jason, I think our parents shouldn’t see each other anymore. Your father made my mommy sick. As soon as he left after dropping us off, my mom came in, held her heart and was red in her face. So I think your dad is not suitable for my mommy’s health. She told me that I would understand what a man can do to a woman’s heart one day,” Cathy says. Jason laughs. He loves the children so much and will never quit the alliance. He may not play much, but he will always keep them close to him.
“Cathy, it just means your mommy likes my daddy,” Jason explains to Cathy.
“Oh, so our plan worked? I was terrified my mom would pass out! I am sure I never want to fall in love if this is love! It makes you look sick and almost gives little girls heart attacks. Is your daddy okay, or is he also acting weird?” Cathy asks Jason. Cathy hears someone singing in the background. It is a love song. Jason’s father’s room is close to his, and his father is singing loudly like a drunk person, but Jason knows his father is not a drinker.
“Well, if you call him singing in the shower weird, then, yeah, my dad is also acting weird,” Jason replies.
“So basically, what you are telling me is that love makes you do crazy stuff,” Cathy says as she hears her mother singing the same song as Jason’s dad.
“Hahaha, they must have danced to that song as both are singing it. Cathy, our parents are lovesick,” Jason says. Cathy listens to her mom in the shower. Her mother’s room is next to hers, so it is easy to hear her mother sing. Unfortunately, Eva hits a high note at that moment, and Jason and Cathy have to cover their ears.
“Well, I hope the symptoms of this lovesick thing wear off fast. But unfortunately, my mom is not a singer, and she is giving the cats in our neighbourhood a run for their money,” Cathy says dryly. As his father is also not a good singer, Jason starts laughing again.
“Don’t worry. I think all the dogs in our neighbourhood will start howling if my dad does not stop singing. I think the lovesick symptoms will go away as soon as they get married,” Jason says. Cathy and Jason laugh and say goodnight to each other. Jason hopes that little Cathy will become his sister with all his heart as she is so cute. His father sounds happy for the first time in a long time, and Cathy’s mom sounds like she is as much in love with his father as his father is with her.
“Thank you for a wonderful night. I have not had so much fun in a long time,” Ryan texts Eva. Of course, as soon as Eva hears the sound of a text, she picks up her phone and smiles.
“I must thank you. I have not danced in a long time, and I enjoyed it,” Eva texts back.
“How about you and Cathy joining Jason and me for dinner at my house tomorrow night?” Ryan takes a chance. He hopes Eva likes him as much as he likes her.
“That will be lovely. I am sure Cathy will enjoy it as much as I will,” Eva replies. She feels like a teenager that is in love.
“Then I will see you and Cathy tomorrow night. Have sweet dreams, beautiful,” Rayn texts Eva a good night message.
“Sweet dreams, handsome,” Eva flirts back, and Ryan smiles as he reads her message.
Jason peeks into his father’s room to say goodnight. He sees his father smiling while holding his phone. Jason shakes his head. His father is honestly acting like a teenager in love. He wants to close the door behind him and walk to his room when his father calls him back.
“Thank you, son. I know you put me next to Eva tonight on purpose. She is a wonderful woman, and we talked and danced all night. She and Cathy are coming over for dinner tomorrow night. I hope you can be there,” Ryan says.
“I will be there. Besides, it looks like the two of you are getting along fine. Poor Cathy was worried about her mother and the effect you had on her. Cathy thought her mom was sick,” Jason says, and tells his dad all about his phone call with Cathy. He wants his dad to pursue Eva. He wants to see his father happy and smiling again. It had been a long time since his father smiled and laughed. He can see his father has fallen in love.
“I feel like it was love at first sight, and you know I do not believe in love,” Ryan says. Father and son never hold secrets from each other. They always only had each other, and it would be a welcome change to share this big house with Cathy and Eva.
“I wouldn’t mind having Cathy as a little sister, she is cute, and I laughed so much tonight,” Jason says.
“She is indeed a clever little girl, and I will treat her as my daughter. She never had a love of a father, and I think she needs it, or she might turn out to hate men,” Ryan says. He and Eva talked about their past. They kept no secrets from each other, and Ryan tells Jason all that Eva and Cathy went through with Vladim and his sons.
“One day, we will help them take the company, handing it to Cathy. She deserves it for all the hell they gave her and her mother,” Jason says. He hates men that pick on women.
“So, how about that model you had at your party tonight?” Ryan asks.
“Not my type! She is too clingy,” Jason says. Ryan smiles in relief and can not picture his son with an obviously jealous and clingy woman. Father and son talk for a while longer before Jason goes to bed.
Jason is surprised to see his father home so early the following night. Jason was busy buying things for his new apartment and telling his servants where to put everything and how he wants it. Jason almost forgot about the dinner tonight. He had just got home and was going to see if the cooks had everything prepared when his father walked in. His father is whistling and has an extra spring in his step. Jason loves seeing his father’s eyes smiling again, and the loneliness is gone. His father looks youthful and more his age. Typically, his father would work until late and come home tired. He will eat, watch the economic news and go to bed, exhausted and lonely.
“I will go and pick up Eva and Cathy. I do not want them to drive alone at night,” Ryan says, and Jason smiles and nods his head. He knows his father can not wait to see them, so he wants to go and pick them up and spend more time with Eva that way. Eva and Cathy are ready when Ryan shows up with a bunch of white roses at their door. Eva smiles as she sees the white roses. Ryan remembered she had told him that she loved white roses. Eva was surprised that Ryan remembered her favourite flowers as in all the years she has been married to Vladim. He never gave her white roses, as he got the flowers she loved mixed up with one of his lovers’ favourite flowers. The four people spend a quiet meal together, and when Ryan takes Eva home, he walks her to the door. Cathy goes in but peeks through her window at the two adults at the door, and she smiles as she sees Ryan kissing Eva. She texted Jason and told him that they had kissed. Jason smiles happily as he sends Cathy a thumbs-up emoji.
Jennie can not stop looking at Eva. She has changed and is even more beautiful than before in the last few months. She smiles, and Jennie wonders if there is a man in Eva’s life. She is even humming a well-known love song all the time. Eva does her work, but Jennie can see her mind is not on the job in front of her, not that Eva makes any mistakes. On the contrary, she is too much of a perfectionist to make mistakes.
“You look happy, Eva,” Jennie says.
“Oh, Jennie, you have no idea how happy I am. I met this wonderful guy, and we have seen each other for a while now,” Eva says. However, Jennie can not help to worry. What if the guy hurts Eva? She will kill him herself! Eva sees the worry on Jennie’s face and smiles.
“Do not worry, Jennie. He is not like Vladim at all. He is soft and a gentleman. Maybe you know him as he is prominent in the business world. Ryan Morgan is his name,” Eva says, and she can see Jennie relaxing.
“I am so glad for you, Eva. Ryan Morgan is a great man, and he will be good to you and Carthy,” Jennie says. Dante walks in with coffee for his wife and looks at the two women talking. He heard what Jennie said.
“Ryan Morgan is one of the best businessmen in town. I have enormous respect for him, and I love doing business with him. You and Cathy are in safe hands,” Dante says with a smile after he greets the two women.
“Well, it looks like I will have to look for a new secretary again,” Jennie says.
“Why?” Eva asks. She enjoys her work.
“Because, my dear Eva, Ryan will want you by his side in his business once he sees all your qualifications,” Jennie says.
A few months later, Ryan and Eva tied the knot. They only invited a few friends and family members. They wanted to keep it a small affair away from the newspapers. Still, the story leaks when they are on their honeymoon in Spain. Someone took a picture of the lovely bride and handsome groom. Vladim stares at the wedding photo, and he feels angry. How dare she get married again? Eva is not supposed to be happy while he is sad! Diana is rarely home, and he misses Eva, who was always home and cooking and cleaning. Eva was his wife, and he could not understand how he was so stupid to let her go. She never complained and never spent his money! She did as he said and did not even say a word when he had affairs. Vladim is angry at himself and Eva and the bloody man that stole her from him! People are funny. They always want what they know they can never have. Besides, she has twenty-five percent of his company’s shares!
Eva lies in the arms of the man she loves, unaware of her ex-husband’s thoughts. Vladim can do nothing to her or Cathy anymore. Cathy is staying with Jennie and Dante while Eva and Ryan are on their honeymoon.
“I love you, Eva, and I am so thankful for having you. I never realised how lonely I was until I met you and fell in love with you the same night I met you,” Ryan says.
“I love you, Ryan. You complete me as no other man can. Like you, I fell in love with you the first night we met. It was love at first sight,” Eva says. They fall asleep in each other’s arms with smiles playing on their lips. They both have a second chance at love, and they will never let anything or anyone destroy that chance.
