Chapter 603: There are Some Secrets Hidden in Everything

After that, the two of them had no contact until three or four years ago when Zane and Miller came over to discuss a collaboration and happened to run into Foster.

That night, Zane and Foster had a good fight.

Neither of them came out unscathed. Foster stayed in the hospital for a week, while Zane didn't go back to work for three days. He just stayed in his hotel room, leaving everything for Albi to handle.

Since then, Zane rarely set foot in South City again. Foster also avoided places where Zane might be found. The two seemed to have an unspoken agreement not to cross paths with each other. Seeing each other tonight naturally made both of them unhappy.

However, Yanis' presence made Zane restrain himself somewhat tonight.

If it weren't for Foster's big mouth saying those things earlier, Zane wouldn't have resorted to violence today.

After hearing about Foster's past from him tonight, Allan and Evan were somewhat shocked.

What can you say about this?

The girl's death couldn't be blamed on Zane at all. He simply wasn't interested and rejected her outright, which was the most straightforward way of handling it and no wrong. If Zane agreed and then changed his word, then something happened to the girl that might have been related to Zane. However, Zane refused directly from the beginning, so in the end the girl was depressed and jumped to her death, which had nothing to do with him.

Although later on Foster wanted him to go see her, he refused, which was understandable since it would only make things worse as she would likely misunderstand his intentions leading to potentially disastrous consequences down the road.

So ultimately these events were nothing more than youthful infatuations gone awry.

Foster actually did some digging afterward too; it turned out that the girl had been suffering from depression long before confessing her feelings for Zane, which only exacerbated matters further when combined with pressure from parents who wanted her to either marry rich or get into top schools.

So, in the end, she ended up jumping off a building without even giving herself a chance.

"You really can't blame this on Zane," Evan said looking at Foster.

Foster lit up another cigarette, but didn't respond immediately.

Indeed there was no one person responsible.

But their conflict still existed nonetheless. Perhaps it was because the girl was someone Foster had truly fancied before, a youthful impulse that caused him to overlook certain truths. He threw all rationality out the window.

Allan casually took a cigarette from Evan and lit it before speaking. "You guys are really strange. Isn't being single good enough? Why do you have to fall in love with girls?"

After hearing Allan's words, Evan glanced at his face and said, "Can't you be nice?"

Allan flicked off some ash from his cigarette and replied, "What? You've known me for so long, but I've never done anything like that."

Evan didn't bother responding but couldn't resist telling the truth. "Don't tell me there isn't a girl you secretly think about?"

Allan paused while taking a drag of his cigarette, but didn't say anything.

But even the most carefree person always has an unknown secret hidden in their heart.

Albi arrived quickly with a check and $150, 000 in cash.

"Mr. Lawrence, I brought everything over," Albi handed everything directly to Zane.

Zane looked at it briefly, but instead turned towards Myles, who was standing nearby.

Myles also glanced at Zane before reaching out to take the check and cash from Albi's hand. "You really mean it, huh?"

Zane's voice was indifferent. "Give him. Bring Mitch out."

Myles nodded and turned to walk inside.

But he turned around after two steps. "If I bring both him and the money back here, will you give me Black Market Line 2 straight away?" Upon hearing Myles' words, Zane raised an eyebrow and looked at him as if he were talking nonsense.

How could three million possibly compare to Black Market Line 2?

Myles laughed lightly, saying: "I'll also pay you some money then."

Zane looked away without looking at him.

Myles tutted and walked straight into the Underground Market.

Seeing Myles come in, Evan put out his cigarette and asked, "Are they gone?"

Miles shook his head handing over what he had brought directly into Foster's hands, saying: "Here's what you want."

After hearing Myles' words, Foster looked up at Myles and asked, "All of it?"

Myles nodded and said, "Not a penny less. You can release him now."

Foster pressed his cigarette butt into the ashtray on the table and said, "I don't need the money. Take him away and give me the 150 thousand dollars." Myles stared at him for a moment before handing over the cash to Foster. "You really don't want this three million dollars?" he asked.

"I checked that kid out," Foster replied. "His mother probably still needs some money. You can give it to him if you want."

With that, Foster stood up and said, "I have something else to attend to tonight so I won't keep you company any longer." After watching Foster leave, Myles turned back towards Evan and Allan and asked them what they had told him. Evan shook his head, saying they hadn't told him anything while Allan added that it was all Foster who did all of the talking. Myles just sighed in response.

Mitch received call soon, which didn't explain why he was sacked.

Mitch knew he couldn't stay here but didn't blame Yanis either.

After receiving notice of termination, Mitch went straight to Foster in person, thanking him for everything.

Foster handed over fifteen thousand dollars in cash, saying, "The contract is invalid, but consider this fifteen grand as my loan, which you will pay back annually." Mitch shook his head. "No... no thank you; I've already taken 150 grand from you, plus this it will be 300 grand. It is too much for me to pay back."

Foster stared at Mitch for a moment before giving fifty thousand dollars instead, saying "This is your salary for these two days; take it."

After calculating everything, Mitch realized that he shouldn't earn this much, so he gave 10 thousand back. "Mater Foster, here's an extra ten grand"

This made foster angry yelling out, "You're stubborn! Take all the money and leave!"

In the end though Mitch included this extra ten grand with the original loan of fifteen thousand dollars when leaving with his backpack on hand while Yanis' group watched on silently behind them. Yanis took two steps forward and asked if he needed a ride to the hospital.

Mitch nodded, replying:"Yesterday Mia kept calling out your name; I scolded her, then she got mad again... Yanis, if you have time, could you go check on her?"Since they had met, Mitch hadn't think about avoiding Yanis or anything like that. He even took the initiative to invite her to visit them.

Yanis nodded. "Give me the address and I'll come over tomorrow. It's too late now, I don't want to bother you guys."
