I'm Not Yours, Alpha
I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 35

Four days later, Aidan was released from hospital so that he could finish his rest at his alpha’s house. Dominic had left everything ready at the company that morning, the presentation of the final product of the project to be taken to production would be the next day and he wanted to check that everything was in perfect condition. If everything went as he had planned, his company’s name would be in several of the country’s newspapers the following week. Leo would take care of the rest. Having a right-hand man like him was the best he could ask for, the beta was too efficient and understated.

He parked the car and after passing the hospital reception he headed for his omega’s room. He wanted to see him, even more so since he had left him the day before. She wanted to have him in her house now that he had no problem with it. She had bought and arranged the room so that he had everything he needed, from a new television, filled the wardrobe with newly bought clothes, new sheets and much more.

I had lost count. He’d asked Julian for help from Madox’s mobile phone, but even then he’d overbought. He hoped Aidan wouldn’t be upset about it. He wanted to give him everything and more. That he’d never have to work in his life again, that whatever he wanted, he’d have it, both material and spiritual. The alpha part of him would be happy if he was happy.

But her thoughts froze when she opened the door to the room and found it completely empty. He felt the palms of his hands grow damp and the first thing he did was check the bathroom to see if he was there, but he was just the same. All her alarms went off and she went out looking every which way for Aidan.

-Something wrong?” one of the nurses in charge of that block approached him when she noticed his condition.

-The omega who was here, where is he?” she controlled her words but not the anxiety inside her. Aidan’s scent was impregnated inside the room so he couldn’t be far away, but he didn’t want to think that he had slipped through her hands again. That really terrified him.

-He means the beautiful omega with the short dark hair,” Dominic nodded frantically, “Ah, he’s on the terrace, he wanted to get some air and think. His face looked calm so you don’t have to be so alarmed, remember he can’t have strong emotions,” the nurse remembered Aidan after treating him on her night shifts.

She had exchanged a few words with the omega who showed neither shyness nor fear of his surroundings typical of omegas when they were in strange places. He was a confident young man despite his condition, and quite pleasant. He thought the alpha must feel blessed to have such an omega by his side.

Dominic thanked him and sought the stairs to the terrace, climbing the steps with agility and speed. He opened the door and the air ruffled his hair and ruffled the lapels of his suit. He covered his eyes to avoid the sun’s rays and searched as best he could for his omega. He found him leaning against the railing with his gaze lost in the horizon. His dark, tousled hair moved like soft, wild strands, caressing the visible bite mark on the back of his neck.

Beautiful.

Dominic approached him and circled him from behind, breathing on the place. Breathing in their mingled scents. Reassuring himself again and again that he was there, beside him, that it wasn’t a dream, that Aidan wasn’t gone. Only when she realised what she was doing did she try to pull away, but Aidan’s hands stopped her arms. The small body didn’t tremble, though her shoulders were slightly tense.

-Don’t go,” he said softly, “Stay like this for a moment, let me get used to your presence. I need it.

If he wanted to defeat any fear that remained within him, he would have to take giant strides in trying to dull the memories of the bad experiences of the past. He didn’t have the patience to start with just one finger. He knew that neither his body nor his inner omega would last long without the s****l part of his life, now that they were linked. Dominic didn’t say anything nor did he let go of the embrace. He lowered his head and kissed his mark to lick it gently afterwards. Not forcing anything. Going slow so Aidan could get used to it.

-Don’t do that,” the omega asked, but the tone of his voice didn’t indicate rejection, perhaps the emotions were too intense at the moment.

Dominic parted his lips in a line.

-Are you sure you’re ready to go home?

Aidan turned his face and looked over his shoulder.

-He didn’t know if it was because of the bond between them but he didn’t seem repulsed, quite the opposite, he longed for more contact with the alpha, “Come on, I’m bored of this place and I want to work.

-You’re a workaholic,” Dominic snorted.

-I like what I do,” he grinned as the alpha uncurled his arms, took his hand and helped him down the stairs at his own pace.

His omega had been in bed for several days so his body was still somewhat numb. They gathered the few things he had in the room plus the laptop the alpha had bought him to keep him entertained, and stopped by the doctor’s office before leaving.

Among the instructions were no strenuous physical exercise for at least a week, a list of medicines specialised in regulating his omega status, and plenty of rest. Dominic had memorised everything, one by one, and the part about a week without touching his omega was the one that worried him the most.

It was difficult to have his destined partner by his side and not be able to touch her. The doctor noticed his discomfort and called him inside as they left the office.

-Is there something else going on? Dominic was alarmed by this.

-Relax, you’re a friend of Madox’s, so I’ll give you some advice. No s*x, true, but I meant penetration. If you can control yourself and do things gently, I don’t think there’s anything wrong. He’s recovered faster than we anticipated, so you know.

-Doctor, thank you,” Dominic was already scheming everything he could do to satisfy his omega.

-I have an omega too, a pretty active guy, and because of my job we have times when we don’t see each other,” the doctor lamented, “I know the anxiety we alphas can have when we can’t get our hands on our jewellery, and that’s for that too. I imagine it’s worse in your case as he’s your destined mate.

-I think Madox has a very long tongue,” laughed Dominic and shook the doctor’s hand and gave him one of his cards for his ever needing his help, he couldn’t imagine how grateful he was to him.

Aidan was waiting outside, leaning against the wall. He quickly sensed his alpha as his pheromones fluttered all over the place.

-You’re very happy, did something happen in there that I missed,” Aidan narrowed his eyes, “You know I don’t like secrets,” he said.

The alpha touched his head, tousling his hair with a smile that revealed his fangs.

-Believe me this time it won’t bother you, but that’s something you’ll know in time, now you need to rest,” he said.

-I’ve been resting all these days,” he snorted, pulling her hand away from his head, “Tell me you at least have some new movies at home, since you won’t let me design anything, surely?

-Well, I have some suggestions. I replaced the TV in the living room with a 70 inch one so I think they’ll look pretty good,” Dominic grabbed Aidan’s bag and walked to the car with him beside him.

-What did I miss while I was in?” he was surprised by the changes in the alpha’s home decor.

-Well, not much. I’ll catch you up in the car Dominic smiled at him.

Aidan was convinced that what little he said didn’t have the same meaning as what he considered little.

Madox was shuffling a test tube with a sample between his fingers without paying much attention to it. He was in a very bad mood and his pheromones kept the alphas and omegas of the lab away, and his grimace disfigured face kept the betas away. He set the tube down with a thud on the table and tried to do something on the computer, but he couldn’t concentrate. That scene played over and over in his mind and it only made him growl.

He knew he was being selfish a lot, but… who did this alpha think he was to flirt with Julian?

Hours earlier.

Julian finished his second shift in the morning and was cleaning his work station. Today was his boss’s wedding anniversary so they would be closing early even though they would be paid for the full day. He had no intention of going. There would be a lot of alphas gathered there and he would not feel comfortable. He had made an excuse and had managed to get out of there before they stopped him.

He checked his mobile phone screen and there was nothing. Madox hadn’t called or texted him, a common occurrence, but he had been preoccupied since that night. At this point he didn’t know if there was any point in thinking about the alpha or why he would do such things. Surely he was screwing any omega at that point.

He stopped thinking about it, nothing else would get him into trouble.

He walked to one of the coffee shops in the area and sat at one of the many tables under an umbrella. She didn’t want to go home yet, maybe she could take a walk and buy some presents, she had received a message from Dominic that Aidan was getting out of the hospital that day.

He reached into his purse for his wallet to check how much money he had on him when a shadow merged at his feet with that of the umbrella.

-Julian, really, is that you? a familiar sound.

The omega didn’t have to raise his head to know the alpha in front of him. He tensed so much that his muscles ached. It had been a long time since he’d heard the voice of his one-time boyfriend.
