I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 68

-Dominic’s question brought Aidan out of his thoughts.

-Going to visit the in-laws is always a matter of concern and even more so when you leave a week later than they intended, don’t you think so,” he smiled calmly.

They had left that afternoon for the mansion where Dominic’s family lived. The trip would take about three hours, so they would arrive late at night. They would have dinner, they would surely have to sleep over due to the demands of a certain omega and they would return first thing in the morning. That was the plan they had made.

For a moment Aidan thought that Dominic didn’t get along with his parents but he didn’t want to ask. Maybe she was doing it so he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. After all, his first encounter with Ophelia had been with spears held high and no armor, the first one to give in would end up defeated. Too bad Aidan wasn’t one to throw in the towel so easily.

Rather, he was having fun with the situation. Challenges were always welcome in his life.

-Even if my mother looks like she can bite, don’t worry, when you win her over, she’ll love you like a son.

-I find it amazing that you find yourself in the situation where you have to encourage me to stand up to your mother. It’s a good thing I won’t have to do the same.

His comment made him sit up and tighten his grip on the steering wheel.

-I didn’t mean to….

-Don’t worry,” the omega snorted and leaned his head back, closing his eyes, “I don’t care about the life my mother may be having now. I may be labeled as a bad son but only I know what I had to endure all these years by her side and the future she had planned for his benefit- -I don’t care about the life my mother is having now.

Remembering it brought a weary, pained expression to his face. Dominic’s hand caressed her cheek although she did not take her eyes off the road.

-You know,” he smiled at her, “You’re good at comforting others.

-That’s my job, love,” he grabbed her small hand and kissed it.

-Changing the subject, how is Madox?

Dominic pursed his lips.

-Well, since he got the news a fortnight ago of Julian’s death he’s…carried it somehow. He started working a few days ago and if he’s not killing himself with alcohol, he’s killing himself with overwork. I really don’t know what to do with him anymore. I never thought he was really in love with Julian. I know I pampered him and treated him better than many of his regular partners, but for it to get to this point…- she sighed- Luckily my parents understood the situation and let us go after I stabilized him a bit. I wouldn’t want to leave him alone for too long-

-Julian,” Aidan whispered.

-Don’t grieve like that,” Dominic asked rubbing his thigh, “You know you shouldn’t have strong emotions.

The omega smiled at him but inside he was grieving, but even more inside, something told him that there was something strange in that story that didn’t coordinate well.

By the time they reached the mansion and Dominic stopped the car, Reish was waiting for them with the butler behind.

-I don’t see your mother,” Aidan loosened his belt.

-I don’t think there will be any problems, but I have to tell you a few things before we go in. Dominic’s voice was low, “Even if my mother behaved in that authoritarian way in my house, here she must pretend to be submissive. Belonging to the highborn means that the role of alpha and omega must be carried out to the letter. For many years I thought my parents hated each other and that it was just a marriage of imposition. Although at this age I have realized that what happens is that my father must be a little strict with my mother. Both of them…he gets the catalina from time to time.

-Aidan blinked several times, “This omega thing is harder than I thought. Maybe going back to beta is more feasible.

-Don’t play with that Aidan- Dominic couldn’t help but growl.

-Don’t worry alpha,” he leaned closer and left a soft k**s on her lips, “Unless you screw up to the last, I don’t think I can bear to be separated from you,” he said.

She smiled at him and then left him to think for a few minutes.

Reish approached them with his dominant alpha demeanor. Even her scent this time made Aidan nervous. His whole body forced him to lower his head but he didn’t do it. He had already been through the same situation with Dominic so he was already prepared. Still he felt Dominic’s scent enveloping him.

-Father,” Dominic’s tone was warning and reminding him of what he had told him about his delicate state.

Reish retracted his scent and smiled at them.

-Welcome. I really thought you wouldn’t come,” the atmosphere suddenly changed and although Aidan started breathing again, he didn’t quite calm down.

-But we’re here now, so don’t protest any more, father,” Dominic sighed.

-Puppy, you’re at my limits. Watch your tone,” Reish’s tone was still relaxed.

Dominic lifted his shoulders casually and grabbed his omega’s hand just in case they had to run away.

-Come on, inside, your mother isn’t waiting with dinner ready, I’m sure they’re hungry,” he turned and walked inside with his hands clasped behind his back.

-Aidan stood on tiptoe and whispered in his partner’s ear.

Dominic pouted his lips.

-He’s not exactly venatic, but in his territory he’s a bit more authoritarian than usual. So you’d better erase the image you had of them when they went to the house. This is on a whole other level.

-You know, I’d love to kick your a*s for not warning me sooner, honey. I would have thought twice before coming over. You know I’m not known for my patience,” Aidan grimaced strangely.

-Well, I’m asking you to hold out until tomorrow. After that we won’t come back if you want. My parents are quite overprotective of me and from time to time they can go over the healthy limit- -I’ve noticed that- -I’ve noticed that- -I’ve noticed that- -I’ve noticed that.

-He straightened his back, “Well, let’s go. I’m ready for battle.

Dominic led him through the large room too overdone for the omega, too much luxury for his taste, it was then that he loved even more the not so small but cozy penhouse of his alpha. That place was not warm. They arrived at the large dining room which was just as exquisite and lush to find a woman in keeping with her surroundings.

It was noticeable that Ophelia, despite being born omega, had been born in a cradle of gold. Her elegant dress tight to her wide h**s, symptom of fertility, her hair arranged in an elegant bun and her jewelry that did not go unnoticed were a sign of who was the woman of that house.

Aidan wanted to laugh, but held back the urge. Apparently the woman didn’t like him at all, and she showed it with every pore of her body. At least Aidan knew where Dominic got part of his stubborn and hard character from. But that was nonsense if you put it in blueprints. They were two omegas, they were the last of society, they should be supporting each other, not looking for fights like two surly cats, at least on that omega’s part.

-Ophelia approached Dominic and did not hesitate to k**s his cheek with a resounding k**s as if to show Aidan her supremacy as a mother.

If he knew where Aidan had kissed him he would fall round on the floor in indignation. Those lips that seemed pure and up to his throat had even been around his….

-Good night…mother-in-law- since the woman wanted to throw wick on the fire, well Aidan would help her a little, she would see if they burned the house down.

Ophelia focused on him with a sharp gaze. She was about to open her mouth to blurt out something a little out of place when Reish’s voice boomed a little off the walls.

-Ofe, get a hold of yourself, your son is present.

The omega pursed his lips, but without losing presence he turned and walked towards the table. When he turned to them again he had a beautiful smile.

-Please, let’s sit down, the food will get cold.

Aidan sighed and felt his partner’s hand on his lower back.

-Are you okay?” he murmured close to her ear.

He smiled at her with a glancing smile.

-Better than ever.

Dominic didn’t know which of the two was more dangerous, his partner or his mother. Dinner went rather quietly for what both Dominic and Reish expected, the dishes were varied and of a very good class but exquisite so hardly any words were exchanged. Talking at the table was frowned upon.

Aidan felt a little full after the fourth and there were still three more to go but he said nothing and hid any discomfort it might cause him. They had just traveled for long hours and he was more tired than hungry.

Once the sixth and the one before the penultimate arrived, he was served one with a light-colored piece of meat that looked appetizing. At that point one more piece of food and he could even throw up, but it was all about not making a fool of Dominic as he seemed to be having a hard time with the occasional question that both Reish and Ophelia asked and he was quick to answer.

Listening to what he was saying at the time without much enthusiasm he cut a piece of meat and put it in his mouth. But as he chewed the sensation shot through every part of his cavity. The metallic taste of b***d reached his palate along with the bittersweet taste of the meat and a piercing pain.

The fork fell onto the plate with a dull sound, as he brought his hand to his mouth holding back a g***n. An alarmed Dominic rose from his chair to him.

-What’s wrong?” he asked worriedly. His omega was suffering in front of him and he didn’t know why.

-You didn’t like the meat,” Ophelia’s voice instead sounded calm, “It’s kobe, it’s a really expensive beef delicacy. It’s a sacrilege to waste it.

-Dominic couldn’t help but raise his voice and even his father was impressed. Ophelia’s mouth dropped open.

Dominic had never yelled in the house let alone in front of them but this time he was really upset. So much so that he ignored them after this and focused on his omega.

-Aidan, open your mouth if you can- she handed him a napkin which he took and as best he could he did as she instructed.

When Dominic saw what was left on the napkin, if he was upset before, now he had no name. Not only were there barely chewed pieces of that rare meat, but drops of b***d and shards of glass.
