Melody’s POV

After staring at the golden ring that the sun god gave me, I heard the door to my room open. I look up and see Estarossa coming in with a tray of food. “Nothing fancy, princess. It is just some stew I made from wild vegetables and wild boar.” He said, as he set the tray down. “I would advise that you eat and drink everything you can today, or you won’t live to see your mates again.” He said with a hard glare. He may be glaring at me, but I can see the little bit of life brought back into his eyes.

When we first met his eyes were cold and lifeless, with a bit of insanity in them. Now they seem a bit more like Jasmine’s to me. Jasmine would have a far off look in her eyes as she was thinking about something. “You don’t really wanna hurt me do you?” I ask him. He raised his brow at me. “Honestly, killing you is not on my list of things to do. The only person I need to kill is the one that betrayed me… Jasmine.” He said “Jasmine didn’t betray you. She misses you.” I said. I may not be 100% sure on her feelings but I know she would talk to him if I asked her to. “Ultear is just using you to free the demon lord. She doesn’t really love you.” I spat out.

Estarossa’s eyes filled with hatred. If looks could kill he would have killed me about three times over. “You know nothing about the love Ultear and I have for one another. You know nothing about what I went through for years. You know nothing about what I have done to get here. Stop acting like you can fix every little problem you don’t like.” He roared at me. “I killed my own parents to gain power, and now I will kill my own twin and take what should have been mine in the first place.” He had a crazed look on his face before he stormed out of the room.

‘I know that he has taken innocent lives in the past, but I believe he can change.’ I thought to myself. ‘I mean Uncle Roy forgave Aunt Shianna for killing his mother, and Jayde would have had a second chance with Tucker.’ I was one of those people that believed everyone deserves a second chance, and it is their choice to take it or throw it away.

I picked up the bowl and sniffed it. I didn’t smell any wolfsbane in it, so I took a little sip. It tasted good and I actually felt better after that little sip. I decided to eat the rest and drink the water he brought. The water tasted like lemons and oranges. My body felt a lot better after having some food. Even my wrists. I checked them and the bright red burn marks that were there yesterday were healed. There had to be some medical herbs in the stew.

The whole day dragged on slowly. Estarossa would only come into my room to bring me food and water, but he always made sure to keep a good distance from me. Even though the food wasn’t poisoned or anything, I still couldn’t break the silver cuffs on my wrists. I would yank and pull hoping that there was a weak spot somewhere.

The door swings open for maybe the fourth time today, but Estarossa walks in only holding a small glass bottle. It was filled with a ruby red liquid. “I am not drinking that.” I said. He doesn’t say a word. He just smirks and uses his free hand to reach into his pocket and pulled out a handful of silver white dust. It doesn’t smell like actual silver dust, plus it was almost white like snow. Estarossa walks closer to me and blows the dust into my face.

I cough and try not to inhale it but I can only hold my breath for so long. When I break and begin to gasp for air, the scent of valerian wild blossoms fill my nose. It makes me feel light headed again and everything starts to spin. I felt Estarossa grab my jaw and then felt soft lips on mine. The feeling of a warm liquid filled my mouth. I realized that he was making me drink the liquid by passing it through his mouth. I wanted to get away, but it felt like everything was moving so slow and my body felt heavy like lead. Then everything went black once again.

When I woke up, the night sky was full of stars and the full moon. I was laying down on a hard surface. I tried to sit up but the silver chains were pulled tightly. Pinning me to whatever I was laying on. I turned my head to look around. I was in an open field with a few stone pillars around me. Estarossa was pouring something around me. “Where are we?” I asked in a horse voice. My throat was dry. Estarossa turns to me.

“Ah, good. The sleeping beauty is awake.” He said as he walked closer to me. “We are at the last place Jasmine and the others will ever think to look for you.” He said. He crouched down so he was eye level with me. “This place is called Rhitta’s valley. This is the place where my ancestor, Rhitta Dragoneel, sealed away the gateway to the demon realm. After the sun god Helios sealed away Demon Lord Leviathan.” He said. “W-w-what are you going to do?” I asked, choking on my dry throat.

Estarossa took out a small vial and placed it to my lips. It smelled of water so I drank it to help my throat. “Here is where I get what I need to get back what was mine.” He said, as he looked up to the full moon. I followed his gaze and gasped. The moon started to turn a bloody red. “The lunar eclipse has started. So let us begin.” He said standing back up and backing away from me. I have a bad feeling about this.

Estarossa started speaking in a language I didn’t understand. It didn’t even sound human. His voice was like static on the radio. The area around us began to glow a light blue. The wind picked up and circled around us. Lifting the herbs and sand that Estarossa had dumped all around us. I kept looking bad from the moon, that was getting redder by the second, and Estarossa. Then he goes from facing the moon to being right in front of me. His eyes were glowing as red and as bright as the moon. With his left hand he held my forehead down, as he brought his right hand up.

“You will feel a bit of pain, but it will not last long. I will try to be as quick and gentle as I can.” He said. ‘What?’ I was confused for a moment, until I saw his fingers come closer and closer to my right eye. I tried to close my eyes, but he pried my eye back open with the hand that was pushing my head down on the hard surface. His eyes were void of any emotions. I whimpered as his fingers pushed back my eyelids. I couldn’t think at all, then the next moment I was filling the night sky with my screams as Estarossa took my eye.
