Melody’s POV

My head was pounding. I slowly opened my left eye to look around me. My right eye was still killing me and was the source of my headache, so I kept it closed. I slowly sat up. One hand propping me up while the other held my head that felt like it would split in two if I let go of it. I saw b***d and ash everywhere on the ground. The five stone pillars that were around me earlier were now all broken. I turned my head and saw Jasmine and the others. Jasmine was in some kind of armor. Her gaze was one full of hate and sadness.

I followed her gaze and saw a monster so disgusting that I thought I was having a nightmare. The foul smell that came from its direction made me so sick that I had rolled over to my side and started puking my guts out on the ground. This caught the attention of everyone in the valley. The creature sneered in my direction. “Ah the precious daughter of the moon. How fitting that I can cause both troublesome gods some pain when I devour both you and the little sun god’s brat.” He said. His dark and beastly voice making the hairs on my body stand on ends.

‘Sun god’s brat? Who was he referring to?’ I wondered. Then I remembered Artemis. ‘Artemis?! Are you ok?!’ I asked her in a panic and worried tone. I heard her g***n. ‘I will live, but once we get home I will give you a piece of my mind. Once I find it.’ She growled. I lightly chuckled in my head. She was well enough to joke so that eased my mind, but I felt bad that I got her hurt because I was careless about my surroundings.

The sound of clashing metal brought me out of my thoughts with a start. “STAY FOCUS.” Jasmine roared. She was now in front of me using a sword to deflect the monster’s claws away. I hadn’t realized that he was attacking me. “Hahaha. You honestly think that a mere hybrid like you could take down me, The king of demons?” he asked as he kept trying to slice Jasmine and I in half. “Demon lord or not. I am far stronger than any other shifter here. I will kill you to bring peace to this world.” Jasmine roared. ‘That would make him Demon Lord Leviathan.’ Artemis said. She then started to make advancements towards him. It was like every three steps she made towards him, he would push her two steps back with another attack.

I then started to think and say to Artemis. ‘But if that is the demon lord that Estarossa was trying to resurrect, then that would mean that…’ We both gasped as we came to the same conclusion. ‘THEN THAT CREATURE IS ESTAROSSA!’ Artemis and I yelled at the same time to each other. I forced my body to move, even though it felt like lead. I heard voices yelling out to me. I looked across the valley and saw my mates, friends, and family on the other side of the b***d soaked ground. Luca tried to take a step towards me, when black vines quickly emerged from the ground and wrapped around his arms and legs, immobilizing him on the spot.

He tried to pull himself free, but for some reason he couldn’t. Similar vines sprouted and wrapped around everyone that was near Luca. Drake was still in his bear form and even his strength couldn’t break them. Grace tried to break them by becoming her regular size of thirty feet, but the vines still didn’t break. They just stretched and bent, but nothing was breaking. “No one will interfere. I will kill the little moon princess after the daughter of the sun.” Leviathan growled out. I looked over and he had one arm raised to everyone while using the other to try and knock the sword away from Jasmine’s grip.

I thought of his words. ‘Is he referring to Jasmine as the daughter of the sun?’ I asked Artemis. ‘I would think so. Back when I was human and lived with Jasmine’s family. Her parents had told us a legend about how their bloodline came to be.’ As soon as Artemis thought of the memory it felt like I was pulled into the memory like when we watched how our wolves brought Jasmine back from purgatory.

*Melody is watching the flashback~ (Apollo, Thor, and Artemis are young humans)*

I was standing in front of Jasmine’s house. I went to open the door but my hand went right through it. So I walked right through the door. I walked into the dining room where a young version of Jasmine and Estarossa were each sitting next to a woman with fiery red hair that had silver white bangs going to one side of her face. Her eyes were different colors like Jasmine’s eyes. The difference was that Jasmine still had one red and one blue eye and the whites of her eyes were white like normal, but the older woman had one golden eye and one blue eye. A tall muscular man with silver hair and red eyes walked into the room from the back garden. A teenage Parker and younger versions of Apollo, Thor, and Artemis followed him in.

“Mother, How come you have a golden eye?” young Estarossa asked innocently. Him and Jasmine looked to be about six or seven years old. Their mother smiled and as the other children began to sit around her she started telling an old story passed down through their family line. “Well my dear son. It all started with our great ancestor, and the mate to the first alpha of our clan, Rhitta.” She said.

Jasmine’s father had lifted her up onto his lap as their mother stroked Estarossa’s hair. Jasmine reminded me of Riley the way she laid back and cuddled into her father’s broad chest. “It was said that before she was mated to our alpha, she had a lover.” “What is a lover?” Young Jasmine asked, looking up at her father with innocent eyes. “Someone that will lose their head if they get too close to you.” Parker mumbled under his breath. Their mother and father laughed. “A lover is someone that acts like a mate with someone, but they are not always mated with them.” Their father explained, while patting her head.

“Yes, and Rhitta was so pure and always seemed to brighten everyone around her that people said she was blessed and loved by the sun. So most people thought that her lover was none other than the elder brother to Mother Selene, The sun god Helios.” She said. She then waved her hand and golden flames, similar to Kai’s flames, danced on the table creating an image. “A man whose hair was bright as the sun and flowed like golden flames and eyes blue and clear as the sky.” She described.

As she described him, the golden flames formed an image of the man that gave me the sword. “Legend says that even though Helios and Rhitta loved one another, for a god to love a mortal was taboo. For the god would lose his immortality and be a target for those who would want to take what was left of his power.” She said with a sad look in her eyes. “What happened next, Auntie.” The young Artemis asked, intrigued by the story. “Well, Rhitta had to find the strength and the courage to leave the one she loved behind, so she could protect him. Even if it meant that he would hate her for it.” She said, closing her palm and killing the flames.

“But they said that she carried a part of him to have forever.” Their father said in a happy tone. “She was blessed with one boy and one girl. Some say that the children were proof of their love and that his b***d and powers flowed through their bloodline for all eternity.” He added. “Yes, and every few thousand years. A special child would be born in our bloodline. One that was gifted with the same golden flames as Helios himself and a grace called ‘Sunshine’. When that child shifts for the very first time and gains their beast. Their eyes turned a brilliant gold.” She said with a smile.

That is when it clicked for me. Jasmine and Estarossa were direct bloodlines of Helios. Their mother and Kai both use golden flames, and Kai has the grace of Sunshine. That is why Leviathan called her the ‘daughter of the sun’. I felt something pulling me out of memory as things started to blur around me.

I opened both of my eyes this time. Ignoring the pain my right eye still held. I looked over and saw That Jasmine was still in a fearsome fight with Leviathan. ‘That is what Ultear meant when she said that it was a bonus fooling someone of his bloodline.’ I thought as I watched the battle. Helios was the one that sealed Leviathan away thousands and thousands of years ago, and Leviathan used Estarossa to have his revenge. By consuming Estarossa and taking his body as his own and using that body to kill Jasmine and her children. He wants to end Helios’ bloodline here and now.

‘Artemis, can you sense Estarossa’s soul in that creature?’ I asked. I thought if I could connect with his soul I can help him drive Leviathan out of his body. ‘I can, but he is so weak that I don’t think our powers will help.’ Artemis said. I cursed and forced myself to stand up. Pain and soreness hitting my body. I fell to my hands and knees. My eyes falling on to the ring that was still on my finger. Then I remembered what Helios told me about the sword. ‘Artemis, Do you trust me?’ I asked her. No matter what, we were a team. ‘It is a crazy idea girl, and I think our mates will be mad at us later. But if you think it will work, then I am behind you all the way.’ She said with confidence.

‘Alright. I just need to get close to him.’ I replied as I forced myself to stand back up. I was able to stand, but then felt something wrap around my legs. I had been planning with Artemis that I didn’t notice that Leviathan had wrapped his serpent’s tail around my legs until it was too late. He yanked and pulled me right over to him with such force that I was feeling dizzy again. Leviathan had pulled me in front of him, my back pressed against his chest, and was using me as a damn human shield.

Jasmine stopped her swing midair and growled at the beast. “You coward.” She growled as she glared at him. He laughed, his heated breath making the skin on my neck crawl. I looked over to my mates, still bound by black vines, looking at me while growling and trying to break free. ‘I love you.’ I mouthed to all three of them. Jeremiah’s and Luca’s eyes widened and Drake’s bear growled loudly. ‘Don’t you even think of doing something stupid, little mate.’ Drake growled in my head. ‘We can’t lose you.’ Jeremiah whined. ‘Please just wait for us to come up with something.’ Luca begged. I couldn’t answer them.

I took a deep breath and looked at Jasmine. I gave her a smile once our eyes made contact. I don’t know how well this plan will work, but if there is a chance I can save not only my family and friends here but Estarossa as well, then I am gonna take that chance. Leviathan was too overconfident to not pin my arms down when he grabbed me. “RHITTA!” I yelled out. In a golden flash, the golden ring on my hand turned into the sword that Helios had given me. Without missing this chance, I gripped the handle of the sword and plunged the blade into the midsection of both Leviathan and I. The last thing I heard as I fell into darkness was that of everyone calling out my name.
