When the darkness cleared. Both Leviathan and I were in what looked like a silver hallway that seemed to go on forever. I looked up and saw the worried and concerned faces of my mates and brothers before they faded. “What the hell did you do you little b***h!?” Leviathan screamed at me as he flung me across the hallway. I g*****d in pain as I met the hard floor and rolled a bit, but I was met with the soft and warm feeling of fur behind me. I looked up to see Artemis.

Her eyes were different. Her left eye was still blue like mine, but her right eye was a beautiful lavender purple. She used her muzzle to help me stand and let me lean into her side. Then she looked at Leviathan and growled loudly at him. Her ears flatten on her head and her teeth bared. I never really look so ready to kill.

“What do you think you can do, little puppy? You have been bound by silver the last few days and are too weak to handle me.” Leviathan gloated. “That would be the case under normal conditions.” Artemis said, still baring her teeth at him. “But these are not ‘normal conditions’. We are in a realm between the living and the dead. Here it is the strength of the spirit that matters.” She growled out.

I smirked at his face. Even though his dragon face could not show emotions like humans can, his eyes held a tinge of fear in them. For the strength of a spirit was determined by the strength of their will, and as long as I had Artemis by my side… our will was unbreakable. We just had to ignite Estarossa’s will to purge Leviathan from his body, but to do that both Artemis and I need to be touching Leviathan.

Artemis dashed forward at full speed. Leviathan dodges her with his wings. Flying up and around just staying out of her reach. Artemis kept jumping, snapping her jaws, trying to catch his tail or one of his wings. Anything she could use to bring him back to the ground. We would never catch him like this. It was like a cat chasing the red dot of a laser pointer. It would never end. I then put two fingers in my mouth and whistled for Artemis to come back to me.

The ear piercing sound actually bounces off all the walls here, making my normal whistle about ten times louder. All of us covered our ears at the high pitch sound. I then noticed my chance. I ran as fast as I could, ignoring the ringing in my ears and jumped onto Artemis’ back.

I basically used Artemis as a springboard and jumped right at Leviathan, gripping the soft tissue of his wings and bringing him down to the ground. “Argh. Why waste your time? His soul is practically dead already. Why fight at all to save the one that caused you pain?” Leviathan roared at me. I felt his claws sink into my shoulder. “Because there is more to valor than fighting only when you think you’ll win or standing on the sidelines everytime you think you’re going to lose. No matter how small the chance is, I will fight. My wolf will fight. Neither of us will stop until we are dead.” I screamed back at him. Artemis then sunk her claws into his tail and her teeth into the arm that was still in my shoulder.

“NOW MELODY!” Artemis roared in my head. I wrapped my legs around one of his wings so he couldn’t try to fly around and shake us off. Then I reached and placed my right hand over his heart while looking deep into his eyes. Soon the familiar dark void envelopes me. I basically had to use my energy to send my own soul into Leviathan’s soul, so I can search deep inside this monster for Estarossa. ‘Please. Please. Please.’ I prayed over and over in my mind as I sank deeper and deeper into the darkness.

Then I saw a small light ahead of me. I went towards it. It was starting to dim and be consumed by the darkness around it, so I hurried as fast as I could. Once I got in front of it. I saw that it was a younger version of Estarossa, curled up into a ball and covered in b***d. He seemed to be a few years older than Kai and Riley. “Estarossa?” I called out to him.

He flinched and looked up at me. Pain, sadness, loneliness, and anger were in his eyes. “What do you want?” He asked, slowly trying to back away from me. “I am here to help you free yourself of the past and get rid of the monster that has taken over your body.” I said with a soft smile. He looked at me in disbelief. “Why? I am nothing more than a monster now. I hurt so many people, especially Jasmine. The one I was suppose to protect as her older brother. I even killed my own parents. I deserve this punishment.” He said, and he started to fade even more. He was losing his will to live. “Jasmine would be so broken-hearted to hear you say that. She still loves you and wants you to come home.” I told him as I gently laid a hand on his shoulder.

“What?” He looked back at me. “But I was the reason she got raped, the reason she was sent to purgatory, the reason we don’t have parents-” I cut him off with a strong hug. He froze in my embrace. “People will make bad choices when they are mad, scared, or stressed… But they can always turn it around when they have someone that loves them no matter what. Jasmine still loves you and she has never said or thought otherwise.” I told him as I squeezed him a little tighter.

I pulled back from the hug a little bit to look him in the eyes. “Besides you should look on the bright side to what came out of your actions. Jasmine got Riley and Kai. Two people I know you will love once you get to know them. She got stronger at a faster pace because of her time in purgatory, and she has new parents that welcome her with open arms.” I said referring to my four parents back home that already love Jasmine, Parker, and the twins as if they were our own flesh and b***d.

He still seemed at a loss for words. “Estarossa… Please come back with me. Come home and be the brother your sister still knows and loves.” I asked him, embracing him again. “Do you really think she will give me a second chance?” He asked in a small voice. His arms slowly wrapped around me, returning my embrace. “Of course. Everyone deserves a second chance. It will just take time to earn the trust back from others, but Jasmine misses you and you kept her waiting long enough.” I told him.

His grip tightened as I felt wet tears drip onto my shoulder. His sobs muffled a bit as he put his face into my neck. “Okay.” He said in a husky voice. With that his will to live started to glow brighter and brighter. Next thing I knew, I was pulling Estarossa’s soul out of Leviathan’s soul. I pulled Estarossa one way while Artemis pulled Leviathan in the opposite direction. “No. I need him.” Leviathan cried out. I pulled harder. It was looking like one of those cartoons where two characters were stuck together and you had to stretch them both far to get them to pull apart.

Artemis growled. I saw her bit down harder into Leviathan’s shoulder and pulled him harder in her direction. Estarossa firmly gripped like his life depended on it, cause it did. I pulled with all my strength. Think of Jasmine, Kai, Riley, Drake, Jeremiah, Luca, and all my other friends and family that I want to return to. I want Estarossa and Jasmine to have a chance to make up. I used these thoughts to give me the strength I needed to pull Estarossa out of the darkness. With what sounded like ripping fabric, Estarossa was almost out of Leviathan completely. Then with an audible ‘pop’… I was falling on my butt with Estarossa landing right on top of me. “Oof” We both g*****d.

Artemis snarled and flung Leviathan over away from the two of us. He was breathing heavily and was starting to shrivel up like a raisin. “Without a willing vessel he can not remain in this world. The sun god, Helios completely destroyed his physical body thousands of years ago. He will no longer exist in this or any other world.” Estarossa explained as we watched Leviathan continue to shrivel up and decay into dust. “I was so close. Ultear found the perfect puppet and yet you brought him out of the dark… How?” Leviathan asked as he started to disappear.

“Because all creatures deserve a second chance, as long as they can learn from the past and change for the better. I will always hear someone out before I kill them.” I told him as he fully disappeared into nothing. I let out a sigh as Leviathan was now gone for good this time. Artemis came up to Estarossa and I. Estarossa kept looking down and wouldn’t meet Artemis’ gaze. I looked at her and motioned with my head. She huffed and rolled her eyes. She walked over to Estarossa and nuzzled her muzzle into the side of his face. Shocking him, but after a moment he smiled and petted her. “I am sorry for the pain I caused you as well Artemis. In both this life and the last one.” He said.

Artemis softly growled and then gently pushed him, making him fall over on his butt. He stared up at her wide eye before he started to laugh. Artemis gave a wolfish chuckle as I laughed along with Estarossa. “Melody, how do we get back to our body?” Artemis asked. I felt a sudden cold chill run down my spine. “I honestly don’t know. I didn’t think of that when we were fighting.” I said as I looked all around. Estarossa and Artemis also began looking around to see if there was a way out of the sword.

Jasmine’s POV

“RHITTA!” Melody screamed as Leviathan used her as a human shield. Then a golden sword appeared out of nowhere in front of her. She grabbed it and ran it through both her and Leviathan. Making them both drop to the ground. I dropped my own sword and ran to Melody’s side. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw the black vines holding everyone else back disappear. I carefully removed the sword from their bodies, then Luca snatched Melody’s body and held her close on his lap.

“REN!” I called out. We needed to dress her wounds and make sure there was no poison in her system from the sword. Ren came over and started looking her over. I turned my head to Leviathan that just laid there still as if he was asleep. I go back and grab my sword and walk back over to his body. I raised my sword to chop his head off, but before I could bring the blade down… Leviathan started to wither away. Leaving an unconscious Estarossa in his place. I no longer smelt the foul stench of the demon lord.

I was thinking of still killing him, but something inside me was telling me not to. I don’t understand. I lower my sword. “Natalia.” I called. “Yes alpha?” She asked, as she walked up to me. Ren was finishing up with Melody’s wound. “Dress Estarossa’s wound and restrain him. We are taking both him and Melody back to the village.” I said. She looked at me with shock, but said nothing as she started to dress his wounds. I will wait until we figure more about what Melody has done and where this sword came from.
