Legend Of The Moon Princess -
Episode 107
Helios’s POV
*SMACK*
I felt completely shocked. Not because of the stinging sensation I felt on my cheek, but because it was Selene that caused it. Selene… my most sweet and caring sister, whose heart broke when others were hurting. I have never seen her raise her voice to anyone, let alone smack them.
“Are you happy now, brother?” She asked in anger. Tears brimming at her eyes. “I-i-i didn’t think she would do that.” I stammered out. Eos stood quietly next to the spring, where we all watched Selene’s little moon princess, Melody, take such a huge risk and plunged the sword into not only the demon lord, but herself as well. “Really Helios? I told you that Melody is pure of heart and always thinks of others first. What did you think would happen?” Selene screamed at me. I couldn’t find the words to explain how I felt. I haven’t felt this confused since Rhitta shattered my heart back then.
“Sister, what has happened was just as much your fault as it was Helios’.” Eos siad quietly looking back and forth between Selene and I. Selene and I looked at her in shock and confusion. ‘How would any of this be Selene’s fault?’ I wondered. “I told you we should have told him sooner and then he wouldn’t have felt the need to put such tests into your children, and you should have been more open minded concerning Estarossa.” She added.
Selene gave Eos a look that said to be quiet. “Tell me what?” I asked before Selene could try to silence her with more than just her looks. Eos didn’t answer me, she just tapped the surface of the springs and it showed something of the past. Something I wanted to forget. It was Rhitta and I standing in the same valley that Melody and Jasmine just fought in, over ten thousand years ago.
Ten thousand years ago~
These past few years with Rhitta have been the best. Just thinking of her makes me happy. Selene and Eos tease me that I am always smiling to myself. They knew I had a girl in mind, but I never introduced Rhitta to my sisters. They hardly ever went to the mortal realm, since only a few gods are strong enough to keep a physical form in the mortal realm and mortals were forbidden to enter the spirit realm of the gods. I was on my way to meet Rhitta at our spot. I plan to tell her that since I have sealed the demon lord away, I plan to live here in the mortal realm with her. My sisters worried about it because I would lose my powers as the sun god and become mortal, but I would do anything for my Rhitta.
I turned around a corner and came to a sudden stop. I felt my heart shattering into pieces. Rhitta was standing in our spot, in our valley, in the arms of another man… and she was kissing him. I couldn’t look away even though her touching another man made me furious. I couldn’t even breathe. “R-r-rhitta?” I croaked out. Rhitta pulled back from the man and looked at me. She smiled at me like nothing was wrong here. SHE f*****g SMILED!
“Helios, I am sorry you found out this way. I was hoping to talk first, but a mate is so hard to resist.” She said in a calm tone. ‘A mate? But I was sure she didn’t have a mate. The man kept quiet and was smiling down at Rhitta. “I am sorry but this little fling we had, must come to an end now.” She said.
I couldn’t say anything. I was so angry that I just turned around and left. I vowed to never get attached to mortals ever again. They are all just selfish creatures, yet I still couldn’t forget the love I had in my heart for her. I gifted her bloodline with two graces that will be passed down through the generations. The divine grace of Sunshine for combat and the divine grace of the wind for healing and protection. The graces will be passed down through her bloodline for all eternity.
Rhitta’s POV
It killed me to have to hurt the one and only love of my life, but it was for his own good. “Are you sure you want to just let him go like this? You will never see him again.” My best friend, Igneel, asked me while holding me closer. I felt the hot tears streaming down my face as I looked up at him. “Yes. As much as it hurts me to break his trust and his heart. I have to. I could not live with myself if he died after becoming mortal just for me.” I said honestly.
I knew that if we continued this relationship, he would give up his life as a god for me. I would love nothing more than to live out my days with him, but there are so many demons that are upset with him for sealing away their master that he would be a target for the rest of his life. Becoming mortal would also weaken his powers, there would be a constant fear of leaving him alone to go anywhere. “Thank you for putting up with my selfish request, Igneel.” I said with a smile.
“Rhitta, we have grown up together and you were there when I lost my mate. I will now be here for you and the little ones you carry, so let out your feelings truthfully.” He said as he pulled me in a tight embrace. I let my walls fall and cried into my best friend’s chest. He had lost his mate a while ago. She rejected him because he was a dragon and she was a wolf. Igneel would not force any woman to be with someone they can not bring themselves to love so he accepted her rejection.
He almost lost control of his dragon, but my wolf and I kept him from going into a blinded rage. I then told him about how I was with child. He was excited until I told him who the father was. We talked about all possible outcomes until I came to a decision. I rather the man I love live and hate me, than to love me and die for me. So we came up with this little ruse to make Helios change his mind and stay as the god of the sun. “I pray he watches over his children from above.” I whispered.
“You are with child?” A soft voice asked. I jumped out of Igneel’s arms and turned to the voice. There I saw two women looking at me with confusion in their eyes. “Who are you?” I asked, getting into a defensive position. “I am Selene, the goddess of the moon, this is my younger sister, Eos, the goddess of the dawn. We are Helios’ sisters and came here wondering why you played with our brother’s heart.” She demanded, even though her tone was still gentle I could feel the anger in her voice. I sighed and then explained my feelings and told them about the children I carried.
Selene and Eos seemed to understand, and even though they were unhappy with their brother’s pain… They would not interfere with our choices. Before they left they blessed us to be of alpha b***d and inspired us to create a clan that would make every creature who lives there feel welcomed. Igneel had said before that he wanted a clan like that so that every creature could live in peace and not be judged for who or what their mate was, and not have to feel pressured to reject their mate just because their mate is different and their clan doesn’t live hybrids.
Present~
Helios’ POV
“Rhitta was never mated to him?” I asked in a quiet voice. Both Eos and Selene shook their heads. “She did what she thought was best for you. Had you become mortal you would have had to keep looking over your shoulder since you wouldn’t be able to use your god-like powers anymore.” Eos said. “Over the years both Igeenl and Rhitta fell in love, but you always held a special place in her heart until she died. Her dying wishes were for us to watch over both you and your descendants.” Selene said.
“Brother, the hatred that you carried in your heart all this time seeped into your mortal bloodline, and you sister, you should have given him a chance. You not giving him a beast made others think less of him. Because he came from such a strong bloodline and him having no beast soul. They looked down on him much more than those that had different mates.” Eos said, looking between Selene and I.
“But he consumed one of his sisters in the womb, and his soul was tainted with hatred.” Selene said. “That hate was not his own. With each generation that passed, their soul was always stained with our brother’s hatred for mortals because of that day. When Estarossa was conceived… He was seen as a dark soul.” Eos said. I felt heartbroken all over again, and this time it was my fault. “If you want your children to grow and someday come together, you need to have faith that the ones before them can teach them the right path. Even though in the end it is their choice on where their lives will go.” Eos said. Selene and I had no words. Our little sister was right.
I was a fool that day for allowing myself to be tricked, and even more of a fool when I didn’t recognize my own children at that time. ‘I need to get Melody and Estarossa out of the sword.’ I thought to myself, but I wondered how to do it when I don’t have an actual bond with either of them. Would my b***d be enough for it? As I was thinking about how to safely free them, I felt myself being pulled somewhere. Gold and blue flames then circled around me and engulfed me. When they died down I was no longer in front of the goddess spring with Eos and Selene. I was now staring face to face with one with a fiery determination in her eyes, Jasmine
