Jasmine’s POV

It has been a couple of days since we got Melody and Estarossa back to the village and in beds in the clinic. I have been studying the sword that Melody had used to figure out what happened to them. Their bodies only had minor injuries and yet they still have not woken up. We have someone staying with them every moment of the day in case there is any change but so far nothing has. ‘What makes me curious is… why did the sword appear when Melody screamed out Rhitta’s name?’ Kira said.

‘Yes. I was wondering that too.’ Dalinda said. I set the sword on my desk and stretch. Taking a small break, I looked out the window.“Rhitta.” I said in a quiet whisper. Then in a flash of blinding gold light, the sword was gone and there was only a small gold ring laying on my desk. I sat back down and inspected the ring. I saw something engraved on the inside. I looked closer and saw ‘Rhitta’ engraved on it next to a familiar symbol.

Looking closer I noticed that the symbol is an anvil with a blacksmith hammer, and the anvil was decorated with the crest of the gods. ‘Hephaestus.’ I thought. This sword was forged by the master craftsman of the gods and the only god I can think of that would have had this weapon created was Helios. Only the clan leaders knew about Helios being our real ancestor with Rhitta. Not even Parker was told the truth. To prevent the secret from leaking out, only the alpha and their mate were allowed to know. I would tell Ethan and Terrance after we mark and mate with each other. ‘Though if Helios had this sword created then he would know what is wrong with Estarossa and Melody.’ I said to Kira and Dalinda.

I went to the back of my office and pulled a false brick from the wall. There was a scroll stored in that area. It was the same scroll that Rhitta had used to call Helios whenever he was in the goddess realm. I should be able to use it too, having both of their b***d running through my veins. I take the scroll and the ring to the mountain top above the village. I don’t want to give the others any false hope in case this doesn’t work.

I place the scroll on the ground, using some small stones on the corners to keep it flat and not constantly rolling back up. I bite my wrist, hard enough to draw some b***d, and allow my b***d to drip onto the scroll. As soon as my b***d hit the parchment, gold and blue flames danced in a small tornado form, chasing each other around and around. When they died down I saw him.

Helios the god of the sun. He looked at me with wide eyes. For some reason or another, my children share more similar traits with Helios than I do. It just adds more to my own questions about his b***d. I mean I was shocked that Kai and Riley got the divine graces that are passed down through our family when they shouldn’t have. The graces are supposed to be passed down every few thousand years, and the ones that had the graces last were my mother and her brother.

“Jasmine… You don’t seem so shocked to see me.” He said in a confused tone. “I’m not. All of the ones in our bloodline that take over as acting alpha were told the truth, but only the alphas. Those of your bloodline that never took over were still left in the dark. It was for the clan’s protection that we never forget where we come from, but keep it contained so it could never be used against us.” I said in a matter of fact tone.

I then tossed the ring at him with a glare. “You had this sword made and gave it to Melody… Why?” I growled. He caught the ring with one hand. Looking back and forth between it and me. “I did it to test Melody. I figured since Rhitta broke my heart all those years ago, all mortals were lying and deceitful creatures. I thought she would sacrifice Estarossa without a second thought, not join him.” He said. He looked so lost. He didn’t even flinch when the ring turned back into a sword when he said Rhitta’s name.

I sighed. “What did the sword do to them and how can we wake them up?” I asked. I had no time for his self pity for doing something wrong. “The sword draws out the soul of whoever is stabbed with it. the physical body may be alive and in a coma-like state, provided that no vital areas were damaged, but the soul would be trapped within the blade.” He said as he held the blade up and examined it.

His eyebrows furrowed as he looked closely at the blade. “What color was the blade when Melody stabbed herself and Leviathan?” He asked. I thought for a moment. “It was black at first, but then it shined white. When the light died down it was back to as you see it now.” I answered him. “Why, what does the color of the blade entail?” I asked. “It means that not only did Melody succeed in trapping Leviathan into the blade, but she purged him from Estarossa’s body and soul. I don’t sense the demon lord’s energy anywhere in the blade.” He said.

My heart thumped at it. ‘Could that mean that there is a chance to have my brother back?’ I wondered. I then shook my head clearing the thought. ‘As good as it sounds, I need to focus on how to free their souls from the balde.’ I scolded myself. “How do we free them from the blade?” I asked again. Helios looked at me. “If it was just one person I could release them myself easily, but with more than one soul we need people with a strong bond with those inside.” He answered.

Then it was like a light clicked on in his head. “If you, Riley, and Kai helped then we could do it.” He sounded slightly excited. I looked at him in confusion. “You have a bond with Estarossa because he is your twin, your children have a strong bond with Melody and her wolf because they are their guardians. If all of you shift into beast form, releasing your alpha auras, and mix them with mine aura, then we can get all of them out and back into their bodies.” He explained, when I didn’t answer him.

“My children are too young to shift. They are only ten.” I told him. “If they drink my b***d, we can force them to shift early.” Helios said. ‘Forcing them to shift?!’ I walked up to him and punched him hard right in his nose. He fell back onto his a*s looking up at me in shock. “I will be damn into hell before I let you force my children to shift like that, and Melody would kill us if anything happened to the twins.” I snarled at him. No matter if it would have worked or not, I will not put my children in danger like that. Forcing someone to shift could tip the balance within their souls. The beast part could take over completely and the human side would be lost forever.

It was bad enough that I had to monitor their graces because of the strain the power puts on their bodies. Honestly if anyone else their age had the power of the graces, they would have died long ago. Mother said that she got her grace when she shifted for the first time, but Kai and RIley got theirs when they turned six and they got their ears and tails. Helios stood and wiped the little bit of b***d that came out of his nose. “It will not kill them or harm them. Their beast could actually help them. Especially with their graces.” He said. I raised an eyebrow at him.

“I blessed your bloodline with those two graces out of the love I had for her back then. It was supposed to appear every few thousand years, but after your mother died, you spent a whole mortal year in purgatory.” He paused, I guess to make sure I was still following his explanation. I nodded for him to continue. “Even though it was because of your dragon beast soul and the bit of god b***d inside you that kept you alive and from aging from the warped time space you were in, it still affected the graces. Making it be over 525,600 years when your children were born.”

‘Does that mean…’ “So that means that they not only got the regular graces like what my mother had, but some kind of built up of the graces?” I asked, making sure I understood him. He nodded. “And you are sure that forcing an early shift will not harm them?” I asked. He nodded again. I took a deep breath. “Then I will take you to them. I will let them decide on what they want to do. They are Melody’s guardians, so they have their right to choose.” I said. Helios smiled and nodded again.

I marched right up and grabbed him by the collar on his shirt, and pulled so his face was right in front of mine. “But I promise you this… If ANYTHING happens to either of my children, god or not, I will be your worst nightmare and you will wish for death by the time I am through with you.” I said in unison with Kira and Dalinda. Making all three of our voices mixing into a menacing growl. Helios audibly gulped and silently nodded his head. I released him and turned around. I picked up the scroll and started to lead Helios to the clinic where Riley and Kai stood watching over Estarossa and Melody.
