Mating the Female Alpha
Chapter 96 – Finding Bernice.

Landry's POV

It's been 24 hours since Alaric has been killed. It took a few hours for his men to clean the mess of the vampires and go through all of Alaric's stuff in the layer. There wasn't much to find other than Alaric's plans to take over the werewolf territory and eventually work his way to the bear territory.

He knew that not all his vampire issues were solved, there will still be vampires that want to defeat the wolves, and there will also be bears that would want to defeat the wolves as well. But at least his biggest problem was done for right now. He could finally breathe; except for the fact that Bernice still couldn't be found. His Beta had reported moments ago that they have checked 4 packs so far and Bernice wasn't in any of them. She still had him blocked from their mindlink, so he couldn't reach out to her.

A nasty feeling formed in the pit of Landry's stomach. What if she doesn't want to return home?

"Don't be stupid," his wolf hissed. "Of course, she wants to return home. She has our pup."

Oh, that's right; she gave birth to their son. Landry was a dad. He wondered what his pup looked like; he wondered what she decided to name him. They never even discussed names.

"Landry!!!" He heard the squealing of his sister bursting through the living room doors. She was holding one of her favorite magazines, a large and toothy smile spreading across her face. "I was named the kingdom's best-looking she-wolf!" She squealed, showing him the front page of the magazine.

Landry rose his brows, staring at the picture they chose to use for Jessie. She was practically naked; she was wearing a bikini that hardly covered her body.

Landry rolled his eyes, looking away from the magazine.

"Real nice," he muttered; he wasn't sure what else to say.

"Don't be such a prude, little brother," Jessie said, also rolling her eyes. "They are having a ceremony for me later this evening. You'll come, won't you?"

"I need to look for Bernice," Landry reminded her.

"Bernice is fine now that Alaric is out of the picture. You'll find her and you'll be able to live a happy life with your pup. But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, Landry. I don't have any other family... I need you there..."

Landry wanted to refuse; at that moment, there was nothing more important than getting Bernice back. But the look on Jessie's face said otherwise; she has been here for him for these last few months, and it was the least he could do for her. Her bottom lip quivered as she stared up at him, pleading her case.

"What time is it at?" He asked with a sigh.

Her smile widened.

"6," she answered. She jumped at him, wrapping her arms around him. "Thank you!" She cried.

She released him and took a step back.

"I just wish Bernice could be here to share in this joyous moment. I hope where she is, she knows she's missed, and she knows what's happening."

"Yeah... me too," Landry agreed, trying to keep the bother off his face.

"I have to go get ready for the ceremony," Jessie said with a wave as she turned away. "But I will see you tonight!"

"See you tonight,” he said in return, watching as she left the room.

"Are we really going to put off our search?" His wolf asked, annoyed. "We don't have time to waste."

"It's just for one night," Landry said. "I still have men out there looking for her. They will report to me anything they find."

"But still; we should be out there too."

"Bernice would want us to support Jessie and you know it," Landry reminded his wolf. "If anything, she'd probably be upset if we didn't." That silenced his wolf, he knew Landry was right. It was only going to be one night; then they would continue their search in the morning.

Third Person POV

Caleb had spent some time searching in a couple of different packs with the rest of the warriors with Bernice. But it was another dead end; if only she would unblock him from the mindlink so he can reach out to her. He's hardly slept in months since Bernice left.

He had returned home after a long day of searching. It was no surprise that his mother wasn't even home, she's rarely home anymore. His father was face-deep in a bottle of whisky; which also wasn't surprising.

He was slurring his words while lounging on the couch; now that Caleb was active Alpha, it was like his father had stopped trying altogether.

Caleb grew annoyed with his family, but he chose not to make it known to them. Instead, he went toward his room, ignoring his father's words as he walked by.

He slumped on his bed, exhausted from a long day. His heart remained heavy in his chest though knowing that his sister was somewhere out there with a young pup. His father hasn't even realized that Bernice was missing; for all he cared, she was dead.

Caleb heard the light sounds of a cell phone ringing in the living room and knew it was coming from his father. His father was not answering any kind of phone calls. He forced himself out of bed and toward the living room where he heard his father answering his phone with a grumble.

"What?" His father grumbled as soon as he answered. There was a pause; Caleb walked closer so he could hear better. "What do you mean she's in the Redmoon back? Who the hell is this?"

There was another pause before his father spoke again; Caleb wished he could hear the other end of the conversation.

"Beta Donny? I don't know any Beta Donny. You have the wrong number," his father mumbled.

There was another pause and then his father scoffed with annoyance.

"No, she's dead."

Caleb's heart fell into his stomach; were they talking about Bernice?

Caleb barged into the living room without thinking; his father hardly even noticed him standing there.

"I have no business with her; I have no daughter," his father hissed in a drunken stammer.

Caleb grabbed the phone from his father, prying it out of his fingers. His father swiped at him, a growl escaping his throat, but he lost balance and fell over on the couch. Caleb rolled his eyes out of annoyance before pressing his ear to the phone.

"Hello, this is Alpha Caleb. Who is this?"

"Oh thank goddess... someone not clearly drunk. Hello Alpha, sorry to disturb you. This is Beta Donny."

"Beta, were you just speaking to my father about Bernice? Have you seen her?"

"Yes, she stumbled into my pack a couple of hours ago. She's with a newborn pup. They were both very exhausted. I'm not sure where they were coming from, but it seems they were heading in your direction. She's resting now." "Thank you so much, Beta. Don't let her go anywhere. I'll be there in an hour!"

"Look forward to seeing you; safe travels," the Beta said before hanging up the phone.

Caleb hung up the phone and threw his phone at his father who remained unmoving on the couch.

"Clean yourself up," Caleb mumbled, turning away and leaving his home.

He now knew where his sister was; now he just had to hope she would still be there when he got there.
