My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1446
At that moment, I was stunned for a while as I looked towards Hendrix. He then looked at Evan as he ordered, "Go to the hospital! Now!"
My hands were trembling before I could get any words out of my mouth. "Mother, please stay calm. We are on our way to you now. Please bring Abby with you this instant and get her examined. Meanwhile, ask the doctor to see if we need to make any preparations. Make sure both the children are safe."
She murmured in agreement.
I was feeling a little nervous after hanging up the phone. Without a second thought, Hendrix put his hand on mine. "Don't be worried, everything will be just fine."
I looked at him while I carefully opened my mouth to say, "I hadn't discussed with you before I decided to adopt Abby. And I'm really sorry about it. It was because I didn't want to get the Moores or you involved in this."
He then gently nodded. There was no other choice at this moment. The only thing we could do was save Anne's life and do our best to make it up to Abby later on.
As soon as we arrived at the hospital, Pedro greeted us in a panic and asked, "Have you all seen the child?"
I was caught in a state of shock. "Abby? Didn't Mom bring her along to the hospital? What's wrong?"
At this moment, Pedro was feeling anxious. "The doctor told your mother that she had to check in before the surgery could be performed. They asked Abby to stay in the hospital for a while. I had only just arrived. Everyone was searching for her all over the hospital, but there was no trace to be found."
Despite being in shock, I couldn't help but suspect Sebastian. Only he would try to kidnap Abby at this time. We'd been caught up with too many things lately, and we didn't have the time and energy to look after the children. Sebastian must have taken this opportunity to snatch Abby away.
It was then that Hendrix glanced over at Evan and ordered with a deep voice, "Use all your connections to seal every highway entrance in Asherton. First things first, check the hospital's surveillance tapes and find the whereabouts of the child as soon as possible."
After a slight pause, he looked towards Pedro. Both of them shared a glance before he started speaking, "Anne's surgery will be going on as
scheduled!"
In that moment, I was completely stupefied. "Hendrix, Anne can't survive the surgery without the bone marrow and kidney for transplantation. We've got to find Abby before anything, otherwise..." Pedro then opened his mouth to interrupt me, "My dear, you don't have to worry about this. We know what we're doing. Everything will be fine."
How could it be fine?
I shook my head with disagreement while my face turned pale white. "No, it's too dangerous to do that. I've already lost one child. I can't risk losing Anne too!"
I reached out to stop Evan, but was pulled back by Hendrix as he looked at me with comforting eyes. "Don't worry. Anne will be alright, and so will Abby. Trust me, alright?"
I was caught in a daze. I glanced at him after a moment of hesitation. "You..."
"Just trust me, alright?"
He once again emphasized it.
I stayed silent, but after a moment, I nodded at him.
Hence, Pedro proceeded with the preparations while Evan immediately checked on the surveillance tapes. I wasn't sure who was on the other end of the line when Pedro made a call and ordered, "Go ahead!" After hanging up the call, Pedro promptly looked at the both of us as he said, "I'll go upstairs to check on your mother first!"
He then left at once, leaving me and Hendrix behind without another word. I couldn't help but look at him as I asked, "Did you know that someone was going to take Abby away?"
He hugged me and brought me to the resting area in the hospital before starting to explain the situation, "Don't you worry. I'll make them pay double for what you've suffered."
