My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 892
I was left confused as I pushed the man away a few moments later, wondering why he'd suddenly fainted.
When I reached out to feel his breath, I let out a sigh of relief. He was still breathing, thank goodness. He had probably just passed out.
"Arianna!" Naomi's voice came from outside.
I got up and ran out. I saw other women coming out as well, and Naomi holding a knife in her hand.
Sparing me a glance, she said, "Let's go!"
I didn't think too much about what happened, and followed them out to the mountain road.
After running for about an hour, some of us could barely continue on. A number began to sway unsteadily and said, "Let's take a break!"
Naomi seemed to be worn out herself. She looked back at the women behind her, nodded and said, "Okay, let's take a break."
There were no proper roads in these mountains. We had been walking on mountain trails all the way.
We had been so worked up earlier, but now that we were able to rest, I looked at Naomi and asked, "Why did those guys suddenly pass out?"
As Naomi was cleaning up the mud and grass on her shoes, she said, "I drugged them."
I frowned, unable to help myself. "When did you do it?" I didn't see her do anything of the sort earlier.
"When we were taking a shower," she said as she gazed towards the sky. "It's getting dark. We have to get out of the mountains as soon as possible."
I nodded as I stood up and followed behind her. I still didn't quite understand how she managed to pull this off. "How did you drug them when we were taking a shower?"
"I put it in the shower gel", she muttered, "It's a rare kind of knockout drug. As the shower gel was on our bodies, anyone would have fainted if they touched us."
It took me some time to process all that. I was slightly stunned. This girl was really something else.
There were no mountain trails along the way, so the few of us just walked on for a long time.
When we finally reached the peak of the mountain and saw yet another mass of rock towering in front of us, my heart almost stopped.
The mountains were all connected. There was no end.
"How are we going to get out of here? There are so many of them." One of the girls cried out in anxiety.
Naomi looked around at the towering mountains and put her hand to her forehead. Like me, she was so close to breaking down.
Nevertheless, she sighed and replied, "Let's go on. There's no way we can't get off this mountain."
We forced ourselves to put one foot in front of the other, and continued journeying for a long time. We trekked from one mountain to the next.
As nightfall came, some of the women became a little worried. "Why don't we find a place to rest? If we keep going, I'm afraid we'll come across dangerous animals. That'd be terrible."
That sounded like a reasonable concern. At first, the mountain roads still had traces of people who'd walked through them throughout. But after a few hours of walking, the further into the mountains we went, the harder it became to find traces left by other humans.
Naomi looked over at us. After a moment of silence, she nodded and said, "Okay, let's find a place to rest for the night."
We had no fire. We escaped in a hurry, so we had no food or much clothes on us.
Thankfully, after walking for a while, we came across a giant tree. There seemed to be a pit under the roots of the tree, though it wasn't very big.
However, since we were all quite petite, we each could crawl inside it and take shelter.
When we entered the cave, it was completely dark. In the looming darkness, we had finally found a safe place to rest.
There were only five of us here. We didn't know the names of the other girls aside from Naomi and I.
So, we huddled in the cave and started to introduce ourselves. The other three girls all came from different places.
One of them was a thin, tanned girl from South City, Tina, and the other was called Rainie, from the coastal area. She was in her mid-thirties, and was quite chubby. Her cheeks, especially the sides of her jaw, had so much acne, some of them had already turned into pustules and were whitish, while some of them looked red and inflamed.
Another woman was also from the countryside in the southwest region, Dahlia. She was rather big and had shoulder-length hair. Her eyebrows made her seem at least ten years older than her actual age.
