One More Chance -
Chapter 114: Sam's accident
~~~There goes my heart beating 'cause you are the reason, I'm losing my sleep, please come back now. There goes my mind racing 'cause you are the reason, that I'm still breathing, I'm hopeless now. I'd climb every mountain, I swim every ocean just to be with you and
fix what I've broken. Oh, 'cause I need you to see that you are the reason~~~
-Calum Scott and Leona Lewis-
"I love you."
He said after breaking the kiss and kissed my forehead. He even wiped the now dry tears from my face and whispered...
"I can't undo the things I've done in the past. I don't know how to take the pain I've caused you, but if you'll give me a chance..."
And those words... those exact words made me open my eyes and suddenly brought me back to reality.
"No!" I found my self again. I pushed him and got up immediately.
"Samantha..." He uttered in shock. He got up too and looked at me with confusion written in his eyes.
"I won't give you a chance! I won't give you another chance to hurt me again!"
"But I thought---"
"Yes, I said I love you but that doesn't mean I'll give you another chance! I can't be with you anymore, besides, I forgot to tell you that I also love David."
"That's not true! You don't love him!" His voice rose and we started the glaring competition.
"I love him! He accepted me and all my flaws. He treated me the way a woman should be treated by her man."
"No, you don't love him because the exact words came from you earlier! You said you never really forgot me and that you still love me!"
"And so, if I still love you? That doesn't stop me from loving him and being with him! It's my choice and tomorrow, I will file a divorce petition whether you like it or not!"
"I won't sign it!"
"You have no choice but to sign it!"
He shook his head. "No, I'm not going to sign it, especially now that I know you still have feelings for me, I won't do the same mistake of letting you go again. So, I'm sorry because I won't sign any documents stating that I'm letting you go." He continued to shake his head. "Fine! Then go ahead! Try it! Don't sign the divorce papers and I will continue to hate you even in my last breath!"
"Samantha Williams!"
"Soriano! Samantha Soriano!" I levelled my voice with how loud his voice was. "I'll just send you the copies tomorrow."
"You can't do that!"
"Tss!" I snorted. "I can and I will!"
And with that, I headed my way towards the door. I took the chance that he's still in a daze and hurriedly opened the door, but only to be surprised when I came out and saw the group of employees gather outside the door of his office.
"Huh!" They all gasped in unison, but I don't have time to greet them as I heard Luke's voice calling my name.
I quickly ran to the elevator and thanked God that the glass door had finally closed before Luke could even reach it outside.
"Sam!"
I bit my lip when I saw him run to the next lift.
I just uttered a silent prayer when nobody enters the lift until I reached the first floor. I just came from the 41st floor, but I felt like it was the longest elevator ride I have ever experienced in my life.
And since I didn't use my car and took a cab on my way here earlier, I ran to the street and frustratedly waited for a cab.
"Sam!"
But I panicked when I heard Luke's voice from the entrance of the building. He's now running towards my direction, so without even thinking and couldn't wait any longer for the cab, that seems like it will take forever to come my way, I ran to the other side of the street.
But before I could even reach the middle, a loud horn coming from a motorcycle deafened my ears and due to shock, I found myself stuck in the middle of the road. And that's when only I realized that when you are about to experience your death, everything will be in slow motion. I was frozen in the middle, and just like the countdown of the stoplight in front of me, I was just also
counting the seconds before the red motorcycle hit my body.
3... 2... 1... and that's it.
I don't know why I didn't feel any pain. The only thing that I remember and that's clear to me was that I found myself flying and when my body hit the ground, it was the same moment I heard my name being called. "Samantha!"
-'David?'-
And that was when darkness took over me.
We were all shocked to know that Sam was rushed to the hospital due to an accident as she was hit by a motorcycle in front of the WIA-Com building, which just added to the shock and confusion we had after hearing the accident. Well, not to mention that it was David who called me exactly seven hours ago that he and Luke were rushing my best friend to the nearest hospital.
JACK's POV:
It's only been a few days since Sam called him and we've confirmed that he's in New York. If so, since did he return to San Francisco? Or did he really leave and go back to New York?
Dale was with me in the coffee shop
when he received a call from Luke, the same time I got David's call. But
what left me dumbfounded was
when I found out the reason why
I
Sam was in front of Luke's company and why did David was also there where the accident happened. Dale asked his best friend and I couldn't help covering my mouth in shock when he explained about the bar incident almost 9 years ago, the hidden camera and the video.
The next scene in front of the emergency room, while we're waiting for the doctor and nurse who were assisting Sam at that moment, was something I didn't expect to happen. David punched Luke squarely in the face after the latter explained that Sam had found out what happened. And the next few seconds got more chaotic as Luke proudly declared in front of David that he had more rights towards Sam because they weren't divorced yet, so it means he's still her husband.
Dale stood in the middle and tried to stop the two, but they were too stubborn and have already eaten by their egos, so I had no choice but to call for help from Dale and Luke's bodyguards who were just watching the three bickerings in front of the door.
Francis, Jonathan and the rest of Sam's bodyguards arrived after an hour. Francis told us what happened why Sam suddenly decided to go to Luke's office to the point that she left them in the supermarket without waiting for the car.
"So you also know there's a video," It wasn't a question but a confirmation that I couldn't help but utter a few seconds after Dale occupied the space next to me on the bench outside Sam's room. I wasn't looking at him when I let out those thoughts, so I missed his reaction. The only thing I didn't miss was the sigh he released after hearing what I said.
It was when everything was finally settled and after we transferred Sam into a regular room. Both Luke and David are nowhere to be found.
"Yes," He said after a few seconds of silence. "But it was only four years ago when I found out the truth."
"Four years ago and yet you kept quiet and you didn't tell your sister." I snapped at him with a frown.
"Because I'm not in a position to tell her about it, it's her husband's, besides---"
"Tss." I snorted, shaking my head. "Yeah, your right, you're not in a position to do that but you could have at least convinced him to tell his wife because after all, she's your sister."
"I know and that was what I supposed to say that she's my sister, but they're both grown adults, so they know what to do. It's their decision, plus, they made that mess, so they should be the ones to fix that too."
I stared at him for I don't know how long and that was the time I realized I couldn't win over him with that matter because he has a point and he's right.
"Yeah, you're right again," I said nodding. "They were adults now and that matter should be discussed between them. I just happened to witness everything she's been through, so maybe I'm just concerned with my best friend... or maybe I'm just overreacting." And it was me who let out a long, deep sigh.
"She's lucky to have you."
What he just said made my eyebrows knitted in amazement and confusion but I chose to ignore the urge to ask him.
I decided to get up and was just about to take a step when he grabbed my arm that made me turn around in an instant and looked at him.
"Where are you going?" He asked and I frowned.
