Owned By Her Triplet Bullies
(Bk 2) Chapter 48

Lexi's POV

I woke up this morning with a dull ache in my head. After Mason dropped me off yesterday, I couldn't fall asleep. I kept tossing and turning in my bed thinking about all that had happened. From his panic attack to what transpired between us in his car. My body felt warm thinking about it again. His voice and touch incited so many feelings in me that I had never felt before and it scared me to a great extent. After what happened to me, I promised myself never to believe anything a man said or get swayed by them but remembering all he had whispered to my ear yesterday was starting to make my determination waver.

I got up from my bed and sluggishly walked towards the bathroom to take a shower, get ready for school, and clear my head. I turned on the shower and stepped under it feeling the warm water cascade down my body. "What am I going to do Darcey?" I asked her with a sigh.

"To be honest Lexi, I'm as confused as you are. On one side, I think he's not who we thought he was but on the other side, we've been through this before and what I learned was that things might not always be as they seem. I could also be wrong," she replied. In the process of washing my body clean, my hand brushed across the scar on my right b****t and also the one on my stomach. Fighting back past and hidden memories, I turned off the shower and stepped out.

"I'm so confused Darcey. I haven't felt this way before," I muttered as I started to get dressed for school. I hoped this feeling would go away as soon as possible. I never wanted to be that helpless whenever he spoke to me or touched me ever again. "Lexi? I hope you are awake," Mum called out as the doorknob rattled. I hurriedly grabbed my bathrobe and wore it over my underwear. I held it tightly in panic till I remembered the door was locked. I sighed in relief. I didn't want her to see me this way. "Lexi?" she called out again when I didn't respond. I grabbed the pills that were on my bed and hid them in my closet. After glancing around and making sure everything was completely normal, I headed towards the door and unlocked it. "Good morning mum," I greeted with a cheerful smile when she walked in.

"I know I've said this before but do you need to always lock your door? I'm worried it's beginning to become a routine. Even when you come in to pick up something quickly, you never forget to lock the door. It's becoming frightening. What if there's an emergency and you can't open the door? Your father and I would remain outside without having a clue. I knocked repeatedly but you wouldn't answer. I was so scared..."

"Mum, I'm completely fine. I opened the door eventually, didn't I? I'm okay," I assured her calmly.

She nodded. "I'm sorry for being so emotional this morning when you should be getting ready for school."

"It's fine. You don't have to apologize for telling me how you feel," I replied.

"Get ready for school quickly. You don't want to miss the bus," she urged. I nodded and walked towards the bed picking up my uniform. I began to untie my robe but she didn't move an inch. I held onto it awkwardly. Seconds passed by and when I didn't make any move to get changed she seemed to have noticed I was uncomfortable.

"I will leave you to it then," she said walking out of the room. After her footsteps receded, I closed the door and locked it firmly before wearing my uniform. I wouldn't want anyone to barge in on me and see my ugly scars. Not even my parents because they have no clue I had those scars. I picked up my backpack and headed out after wearing my shoes.

"Mum, I will be on my way now," I called out to her. She hurried out of the kitchen with two wrapped-up lunches and handed them over to me.

"Why are there two today?" I inquired in a confused tone.

"The other ones are cookies, for Mason," she replied with a smile.

I frowned. "Why would you make Mason cookies again? If he wants some, he can just buy it."

"It's to show my appreciation. He's doing such a good job tutoring you without asking for anything in return. Make sure you give it to him," she responded. I shook my head vehemently. Here I was looking for ways to avoid him and sort out my feelings but she was making me speak to him. "Go already. The bus is here," she said.

"Mum, plea..."

"Bye and have a lovely day. I need to start working," she cut me off and hurried towards her room. I groaned when I heard the bus honking loudly. As usual, I ran towards it screaming at the driver to stop. I arrived at school while still staring at the two wrapped lunches and contemplating if I should give them to him or not. Someone suddenly stepped in front of me with a smile. "You again," I said to Rachel with an eye roll.

"Hi Lexi," she greeted with a slight wave. I raised a brow. Why was she acting all nice when the last time we spoke, she looked like she wanted to claw my eyes out.

"You must be surprised I'm here," she said.

"Not really because I don't care," I retorted, starting to walk away. She stepped in front of me again, stopping me abruptly.

"I wasn't done speaking," she declared.

"But I was done listening. I'm not in the mood to listen to you whine about Mason again," I replied.

She smiled. "Look, I know I said some really mean things the last time. I'm sorry for that. We started off on the right foot. Let's just forget what happened the last time and move on." Her smile looked sincere.

"What changed your mind? Last time, I was sure you would have pulled my hair out if you had the chance," I answered skeptically.

"That was just me being jealous. Besides, if you were in my shoes and you've lived for this one person your whole life, you probably would have reacted like I did. But now, I'm sure nothing is going on between you and Mason," she explained.

I hated to ask her this but I did anyway. "How did you come to that conclusion?"

"You are not the type of girl Mason likes," she replied bluntly.

"Excuse me?" I said with a frown.

"And with what happened yesterday, I'm sure I was just paranoid. Nothing like that will ever happen between you two," she responded. I scoffed in disbelief.

"I hope we can keep everything behind us and be good friends. See you later," she said as she smiled and left. I stared at her retreating back for a while before shaking my head and walking away.

"Lexi," Mady squealed, running towards me. I smiled at her as she ran into my arms.

"Easy there Mady. What's got you so excited?" I asked. She laughed.

"How did you enjoy the party last night?" she asked.

"It was awesome. Thank you so much for the dress and also for inviting me," I replied gratefully.

"I would have been bored without you so I'm glad I invited you," she replied. I knew she was just saying that. She has lots of friends and families she could have spoken to at the party.

"I was planning on returning the dress today but I was so late that I..."

"I told you there's no need to return it. It's a gift from me, well not from me but from my aunt Ari who's a designer. The dresses are from this year's collection which hasn't been released yet. This was her way of marketing," she explained. "Your aunt Ari? I'm not sure I met her yesterday," I muttered trying to recall if she introduced me to someone by that name.

"She wasn't at the party and she isn't in this pack either. She's married to my other father..."

"Other father aside the three you already have? Okay, now I'm lost," I said, cutting her off.

"It's Mason," she said looking behind me. My ears perked up by that name. I willed myself not to turn around.

"Can you give this to him for me?" I asked, my heart beating fast in my chest.

"I have something to tell you before that. You asked me why I was so excited earlier, right?" she asked.

"Yes?" I answered wondering what that had to do with anything we were talking about now.

"Well, we are going on a school trip," she said excitedly.

"School trip?" I asked in surprise before she got to respond, I heard a voice behind me.

"Mady, you called?" he inquired, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine.
