Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 87
Mason's POV
"What's wrong? Are you upset with me?" she asked in a low tone. I turned my back towards her without responding.
"That was a stupid question to ask. Of course, you would be upset. Anyone would be," she muttered.
"Listen, I followed you here because you shouldn't have heard what you heard. I'm so sorry it had to be that way. I tried, I tried really hard to tell you about it but I couldn't. I feared you were going to leave me when you found out. But, I don't blame you if you do. I feel disgusted with myself for being so pathetic and letting all that happen to me..."
"How's your face?" I asked cutting her off and walking towards her.
"What?" she asked, her face scrunched up in confusion. I didn't want to keep talking about it. If I did, I might just end up going to find Nick myself.
"You need to place ice on it else it might get worse. Have a seat," I said walking past her towards the refrigerator in my room. I got some ice packs and headed back towards her. Gently, kneeling in front of her, I placed the ice pack on her face.
"What are you doing? You shouldn't be kneeling. What if someone sees you?" she asked, glancing towards the door worriedly. There she was getting worried about my status again.
"Stay still," I muttered. She obeyed but I could feel she was still edgy.
"You are my mate. No one will dare question us," I assured her. She visibly relaxed.
"Don't you want to talk about what you heard? I'm sure you must have several questions..."
"Shhhh. I don't want to hear it," I said, placing a finger on her lips. She looked taken aback.
"You are making me feel very uncomfortable Mason. I need to know if you are upset with me or not. I can't live with this constant fear of not knowing what to expect," she replied.
"I'm not angry. I won't lie, I was a bit upset when I heard you talking about it. I was upset because I wondered if you didn't trust me enough to let me in, in all of your secrets..."
"You know that's not the reason," she said, cutting me off.
"I know now. Because you told me about your fears which is what I want from you. I want to know what you are constantly thinking about, your fears, what you like, what you dislike. Everything. I want to constantly have conversations with you. That's the only way I would be able to understand you," I replied.
"I'm sorry. I know it must be hard having such a complicated mate that you have to constantly try to figure out. But I'm trying, I'm trying to be more outspoken about what I feel for you. I don't want to lose you," she muttered.
"You won't lose me. I love you Lexi and that's never going to change, don't doubt it. And you don't have to be sorry. The a*****e who made you lose trust in people should be sorry," I responded.
She smiled. "It's a relief you are not upset. I had an entirely different scenario in my head. But, about Rachel's mum, is she always that crazy?" she asked curiously.
"Crazy is an understatement. Why did you jump in like that? You could have gotten seriously hurt. Never do that again," I said in a serious tone.
"I can't promise you that. I wasn't thinking when I stepped in and I think it's going to remain like that," she responded firmly.
I sighed. "Never knew you could be so stubborn too." The door suddenly opened and Mum walked in hurriedly along with our fathers and Mady. "You should have just brought the entire family," I said to her.
"Sorry," she muttered sheepishly. Lexi tried getting up from the bed but I held her down and got up instead.
"Sit still. You are hurt," I said.
"I heard what happened. Are you okay? I swear if Felicia dared to harm a hair on your head..."
"I'm fine, mum. Lexi stepped in when she shouldn't have and got hurt instead," I replied, cutting her off.
"Good evening Alpha and Luna," Lexi greeted politely, trying to get up again.
"You should sit dear. I'm so sorry about this. Felicia went out of line this time and I will make sure I give her an earful," Mum promised.
"Thank you, Luna," she replied.
"We were supposed to have dinner tonight. I'm sorry it turned out like this. Should I call the doctor? So you can apply some ointment on that?" Mum asked worriedly. "You don't have to go through the trouble. I will do that when I get home," she replied.
"It's no trouble. You are part of our family now. I always liked you but now I'm glad you are part of our family," Mum responded with a smile.
"I couldn't have wanted anything else," Lexi replied as she glanced at me with a smile.
"I saw that. Are you going to abandon me now that you are with Mason?" Mady asked with a pout.
"Of course not Mady. You are still my best friend and that won't change," she responded. Mady smiled happily.
"But, why can't I see Vivian anywhere? She's always the first to barge into your room," Lexi said. I smiled thinking about the first day Vivian arrived.
"She's at Ria and John's place," Father Philip replied.
"O..okay," she stuttered. I knew she wasn't expecting him to respond to her.
"We are proud of you son. You finally found your mate," Father Julian said. Yeah, like you all wanted. I thought.
"I knew it was going to happen later or sooner. What's left now is to finish your lessons. You need to be more serious about your..."
"Can you wait in the living room? I will join you soon," I said, turning towards Lexi and cutting Father Alex off. She looked surprised but she nodded in response. I needed to speak to them about how I really felt, else they would never stop. And I didn't want Lexi to hear any of it. It would make her worry unnecessarily. "Why did you send her downstairs?" Mum asked curiously.
"I don't want to finish any lessons. I found my mate but it wasn't to satisfy any of you. Have you ever stopped to ask yourselves why I never told you all about her in the first place? Because I expected that as soon as you found out, you were all going to behave this way," I started glancing at every one of them.
"Behave in what way?" Father Philip asked with furrowed brows.
"Exactly like this. You are going to go on and on about how I need to get more serious about my lessons before I can take over from you but I'm not ready for that. I'm not even sure if I want that. All my life, I followed your instructions and lived for you but not anymore. I'm not doing that anymore," I replied.
"Mason, what are you talking about? Why are you talking like this..."
"Not now, Mady. This isn't about you. Did you even know that Mum was seeing a therapist? A therapist means she hasn't forgotten about what they did to her. Who knows? She might still be with them because of us," I said to her. "What!" Mady exclaimed in shock.
"Mason! Stop it," mum warned.
"But it's true, isn't it? Shutting me up won't change the fact that I'm not you and I can never be you all. So stop trying to fix me. I don't need to be fixed. I don't need to be constantly told what I can or cannot do. I don't want to be constantly on edge. You all think I'm a prize that needs to be publicly showcased..."
"Is that what you really think of us?" Mum asked, sounding hurt.
"I agree with Mason," Mady added. I turned towards her in surprise. She had never gone against our parents before.
"Princess," Father Julian muttered in surprise. Father Alex stood in silence and just watched what was unfolding in front of him.
"I'm sorry Dad but the truth has to be said. I always felt like the pressure mounted on Mason was too much. Not only him but me too. We are constantly judged when we step out of the house because we are the Alpha's kids. But it doesn't have to be the same here as well. Mason can live his own life while still preparing to take over but it doesn't have to be to this extent. Your fear of him treating Lexi badly like you did with Mum won't let you. He's your son but that doesn't mean he would turn out exactly like you did," Mady explained calmly.
"Madison..."
"Did any of you even realize that on the day of the anniversary, the reason Mason wasn't able to deliver his speech was because he had a panic attack at the last minute? Now I know the cause of that was what he found out about you, Mum," she said. I turned towards her in shock. How did she know about the panic attack?
