Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 723

The black Cayenne quietly stopped at the foot of the apartment as if it had blended into the night.

The door of the elevator slowly opened with a ring and Emily pursed her lips right until they were inside and the door was closed. He stared at Simon in his slippers and blurted, "Why did you tell her we're married, Simon!?"

Addy had done her best to keep the smile on her face, although no one could dispute that she was actually grimacing.

Simon did not stop. He turned his head back and asked lazily, "Are we not?"

Emily bit her lip.

She had to admit that the apprehension and trepidation which had been haunting her an entire night was gone and she was feeling more cheerful.

She followed him into the bedroom. Once she stepped inside, Simon turned around suddenly and whisked her off her feet before tossing her into the huge bed.

He took the chance to throw himself on her to pin her down.

Emily tried to push him away, screaming, "What are you doing?"

Simon grinned at her and caught her hand. He pulled it to his lips and kissed it and watched how she winced shyly and lowered to kiss her on the lips.

"Wait, I haven't taken a bath yet!"

Emily buried her face into a pillow to evade him, panting for breath.

Simon's thin lips fell on her reddish eyelids and he said hoarsely, "Let's bath after we're done. I love taking baths with you!"

Emily's voice trembled. "Ah, don't..."

"How can we not work hard if we want a baby?" Simon smiled wickedly, his fingertips lightly tapped on her eyebrows and eyes, his eyes burning with determination. "That was your promise, Mrs. Chin! No backing out now!"

The rapturous night went out outside with the moans and grunts from the man and woman inside.

Busy work from sunrise to sundown every day allowed time to pass quickly in the city. Saturday came and Emily was calling for a cab to go to the nursing home with some fruits.

In the past three and a half years, the old woman had recovered very well and she would visit her whenever she found time during the weekend.

The caregiver knew her. As soon as she arrived, the caregiver took the fruits from her and smiled warmly, "Mrs. Chin. She's just upstairs in her bedroom!"

"Sure!" Emily replied with a smile.

Emily hung her coat and walked up the stairs. The bedroom door was ajar with cheery sunlight pouring in from the open windows, casting a huge shiny pond of light at the center of the corridor. Before she reached the door, Emily heard the elderly woman's jovial giggles.

Her lips curled into a smile spontaneously. She spun around the corner at the door and before her hand could knock on the door, she found that Grandma was not alone; beside her was an all too familiar figure of a thin young woman with long hair and she was looking at the photo albums with Grandma, sharing a good time together.

The feeling of deja vu struck her. She used to sit on a stool too, looking through Simon's old pictures with Grandma.

Emily stood there, utterly dazed with her hand still in mid- air, not knowing whether she should just withdraw or go in.

"Ms. Sam!"

Addy called when she inadvertently looked up.

Grandma looked up too and saw her. She beamed broadly, "Emily! You're here!"

She nodded and smiled at her. "I've come to see you, Grandma. How have you been lately?"

"Good, very good!" The old woman chuckled and closed the album shut and placed it behind her. With feigned annoyance, she said, "I've missed you! It's been too long since you visited!"

"I'm here now, am I?" Emily coaxed her hastily.

Grandma giggled. After all, it was just a joke. "I'm just so happy to see you. Right, Emily, this is—"

"Grandma, Ms. Sam and I have met before!" Addy interjected.

"Ah?! So you know each other?!" the old lady gasped and peered at Emily with concern.

"Yes..." Emily nodded.

"I had a meal with Simon and Ms. Sam last week when I first came back!" Addy said quickly. She smiled, "It's been so many years, Grandma. I've not been here to see you. But I've brought back a lot of nourishing food. They're all for you; so you must remember to eat them!" "You're too kind, child!" The old woman's eyes lit up with a smile.

The adoringly lovable Addy said sweetly, "This is my duty, Grandma. I miss the days when I would come with Simon to your place for meals! You'd make us that delicious beef broth noodles no matter how busy you were and until now, it's still the most delicious beef noodles I've ever eaten before!"

Sure enough, the old woman was left in giggles and smiles by those words. "Ain't that the sweetest words from you, Addy!"

They talked about the past and Emily, having no part in that, could find no ways to participate in the conversation and she could only sit in a corner quietly.

Noticing her drooping eyes, Grandma took her hand and asked suddenly, "Emily, Simon told me you're planning to have children?"

"Uh!" Emily's face turned red.

"No need to be shy!" The old woman teased. I've been waiting for this moment since the day you two got married! Finally, at long last! Now hurry up and give me a great-grandchild! Now Simon might prefer daughters, but boys or girls, they're all fine by me!"

"Grandma..." Emily mumbled, utterly embarrassed.

She did not know that Simon had told Grandma about this as if he was trying to seal things before she could regret it! Grandma giggled and patted her hand tenderly, "All right, all right. I'll press no more. But you two have got to work hard!"

Emily looked down again. Only this time, instead of looking lonely and helpless, her eyes were flushed red.

Addy turned stiff. She cleared her throat and said, "The ballet company's having a tour around the country, so I'd better go back to rehearse. I won't stay longer, but I'll come again to see you!" "Okay!" Grandma nodded and then looked at Emily, "Emily, please see Addy out for me!"

Addy did not miss it and apparently, so did Emily. What sounded like a simple and casual sentence was how Grandma was showing that she acknowledged Emily as her true granddaughter-in-law. She nodded obediently and said, "Okay!"

Emily and Addy walked side-by-side out of the house and on the cobblestoned path outside the nursing home. Their shadows elongated down the way, casting a strange and foreboding eeriness about them both.
