I felt sick as we landed. The lads went off quickly to scatter the talesmen. They had a camp where they needed to set them up to create a perfect circle around their camp. We had masked them and ourselves so we wouldn’t be sensed. Penny was holding my hand , I felt the tremor running through her too, as well as me. It was like we were vibrating. Anthea came over to us. ” Are you two doing OK ? ” she asked, and I shook my head no. Being truthful. ” It has been a long time since I have seen them face to face “, I admitted.

She rubbed my arm. ” We are all here for you, OK , both of you. If you wish not to even speak to them, you don’t have to, Enzo and I will do all of the talking “, she offered. I shook my head , as much as I would love to just hide in the back. ” They would not allow that ” I told her. She laughed humorously ” We have had a fine example of parents, haven’t we? ” she looked down and held her stomach. I heard the fear in her voice. Stepping forward ,I placed my hand on her stomach too. ” You will be nothing like either of our mothers, Anthea. ” She looked up at me with shock that I knew where her thoughts had gone to. I knew that was why , because it was why I was so hesitant to have children myself. I had the same horrid thoughts that paralysed me with fear of having one of my own.

Even though her mum seemed to be trying now , it didn’t take away the mum she had grown up with in her vulnerable , impressionable years. There wasn’t hope for my mum like there was for Antheas though. Hopefully, her mum could be a good grandmother. My mother had to die. I had no doubt about that.

” Thank you for saying that ” she said , with tears in her eyes. ” There is no need to thank me Anthea , you are so nurturing and kind. Your children will be truly blessed ” she threw her arms around me , shocking me. Letting go of Penny’s hand, I swept my arms around her and held her tightly. ” You would make a great mom too “, she whispered.

It was nice of her to say , but I definitely wasn’t ready to start having babies yet. I was serious when I said to Devon I wanted a year of it just being me and him. If this went in our favor , and I was finally rid of the demon that I had to look over my shoulder for. That being my mother and father , then I wanted some time to just feel free. Well and truly free , I wanted to travel and actually enjoy where I was , not running through places from one to the next.

Letting her go , she dashed at her face with her hands and nodded. Before wandering back off to the warlock women to discuss us activating the talesmen’s that had been set up. ” Are you ready for this ? You don’t have to be here , say the word and you can go back. Keep it hidden. You are with us “, she shook her head. And gave me a pointed look , one that was full of determination. ” No , they need to see that they are barbaric , their views are idiotic. And that I am not the weak thing they thought I was. Well , I won’t be anymore ” she said , it sounded like she was trying to convince herself more than me.

“Because of what you have had to endure, no one can argue you are not strong. Most would have ended it for themselves long ago. Your strong , and we have got this OK ” now I sounded like I was convincing myself too. The guys came back thirty minutes later. “They are all set , let’s just hope they are all in there “, Enzo said. That was another risk. Some could not be at camp and off doing other things. ” I saw her parents , they are definitely there “, Peter said , nodding at me.

” Right ladies , let’s do this, shall we ? ” Dateneye said. She had quickly taken on like a mother role to most of us witchy girls. The Warlock women’s knowledge was phenomenal , and I just know we would learn a lot from them. We all circled , our circle was a lot bigger. Now we had Penny and the women . Our powers combined more than what we had facing Yianna. It should have made me more confident , but they were a whole coven of magic users.

Anthea started us off with the spell , the rest of us following. I felt each one of the girls’ magic start to rush through me like waves. One, then the other coming, then going. In and out like the sea on the beach. I felt it when we connected to the talesmen’s and installed the barrier and the weakening spell. Using magic was always a gamble. I could feel the dark magic in the background always wanting to creep in and the thing is, if I did use it , I would be stronger than most of the dark witches and the witches here.I had to keep it back though. I had spoken with Penny about it too. My guess is she had not ever really used her magic much. Not even to escape her hadn’t , Penny wasn’t a strong witch in regards to her magic. They had struck fear into her that much she hadn’t been willing to use it to escape. My guess Sinner would have done something to make sure she didn’t too.

But I told her how I cope with keeping it at bay , not using it. Or giving into the temptation of using it. She had told me not to worry , that she would be fine. But, of course, I would worry . When the spells were done, I looked at her straight away , her eyes were shut and a pit of dread hit my stomach. Until she opened her eyes and they weren’t black. I let out a sigh of relief and pulled her into my arms. ” Well done Penny ” I gushed, pulling back and grabbing her face , to double check. There wasn’t even a hint of black there , and she was beaming at me.

” Were all set ” Shira said , which meant the next step. We will now go face them. They would have sensed magic being used , especially of that magnitude. ” They will know we are here now , believe me ” I said , studying Penny’s face and not looking at the others. She rolled her eyes at me. ” Stop , I am fine “, she laughed. Ryken came up to the side of her and I dropped my hands, stepping back. Devon came and grabbed my hand. We all walked together to the camp. The closer we got, the more shouting and ranting could be heard. One voice stood out to me, in particular Wallace’s. He sounded livid.

As we went through the trees and into the opening , loads of dark witches stood at the line trying to get out. Some were chanting, others kept touching the barrier like it was glass. Wallace was barking orders at people. One of the things we did too , was cut them off from the magic land. Where they drew most of their magic from the ground. One by one, all sets of eyes that were there came to land on us.

The one I waited for was Wallace’s though. It was freaky black eyes to look at you and know they were looking at you. No emotions or feelings are seen through the eyes, but on the facial features you can. His eyebrows raised , and then he sneered and from the hood of his eyelids and the tilt down of his head I knew he was looking at mine and Devon’s joint hands. ” Violet ” he whispered , as he did, two more people pushed through the crowd and there stood my parents. My dad’s eyes went wide , at least I could see his eyes properly. My mum was scowling , her head going from one end of the tribe we brought to the other. ” What is the meaning of this Violet ? “she snapped at me.

I felt Devon squeeze my hand , this was my show now. I had to stand up to them with everyone else there as my back up. ” I know you have still been looking for me ” I said, croaky. Mad at myself, I cleared my throat and took a deep breath, squaring my shoulders. I looked at Devon, who was giving evil eyes to Wallace , when he felt my eyes on him. He looked my way , it was like he was speaking to me without saying a word. He was saying I could do this.

I nodded and looked back at them. ” I am here to warn you to stop , to stop looking for me and to stop with the barbaric plan you have. I will be of no part in helping you succeed. And if you plan to continue without me , we will have no choice but to stop you. ” I managed to get out my voice strong. My mother’s l*p curled up in disgust. ” And who are you to make threats , who are these people you have brought here to our land ? ” she spat.

” These people are my family. This is my fated mate, Devon . The rest is not of use to you , but you can feel the strength here. Feel it and believe to go against us would be madness “, I told her. I looked at Wallace who looked like he was about to combust with anger , jealousy radiated off of him. ” Where is Rion ? ” my father spoke up . And ice stabbed at my heart. I couldn’t form the words to tell them. ” Rion died in a battle against someone like you lot , he died protecting the world from someone like you all , bravely ” Enzo said, and I had never been more grateful.

“Someone is coming ” I heard Devon whisper. I looked at him confused , but all the wolves were looking in one direction now. Penny started screaming in pain and gripping her head. ” Sinner ” she gasped. Out of the trees he came alone like an i***t. Anthea jumped forward, her hands up and started chanting. Sinner froze in his place , and before any of us could do or say anything. Ryken had run up to him and grabbed both sides of his face, twisting it so an unearthly crack could be heard. His body then dropped to the floor like a sack. We all watched on frozen. Why would he face us all alone ? It seemed his hatred for his own sister had beaten out common sense. I looked at Penny who was on the floor watching the scene with wide eyes. She looked in shock. And Ryken looked like his dragon was about to burst free. s**t
