The guys were standing having a quiet conversation outside of the medical building. It looked quite deep and important. And I started to feel a little guilty for dragging them away from what they had been doing. This council visit that was coming seemed to have them a little on edge. But when they saw us approaching them , both of them looked up with smiles on their faces. Devon looked giddy all of a sudden. ” Girls , are you both OK ? ” Enzo asked. I think he was picking up on the mood. Anthea walked into his arms , and hugged him to her tightly.

” If someone acted possessive , needy , worried and protective over someone. What would be your first thought ? “she threw it out as a question for both of them. Devon put his arm over my shoulders and kissed my head. Both guys said it at the same time. ” Mates ” came in unison. We both stayed quiet , seeing if they could piece it together too. ” Wait s**t , are you saying you think the babies are mates ? ” Devon asked, pulling away , so he could look down at me.

I shrugged ” It is a theory that Shira threw out there , it is why we are here. It wouldn’t make sense for a brother and sister to have the same mate. So , we are seeing if I have one or two babies to see if the theory can even match looking at all the actions and thoughts they make us feel , the need to be close to one another. It would make sense. So , we are here to get scanned. ” I smiled awkwardly at him.

” But they’re just babies , we don’t find our mates until much later ” Enzo said , giving out the same argument that was thrown out earlier. ” We’ve already discovered our babies are not the normal kind though, haven’t we? The girls are looking into all the options. If this is even possible for one , and how to protect them once they are born “, Anthea told her mate. ” How do you feel about all of this baby ? ” Devon asked me, and my heart swelled with love. That he knows I would be freaking out right now. ” A little surreal right now , but we have the best family around us for support if that is the case. So, I’ll be OK “, I told him, and for once, I actually believed it. I was coming to the realisation we wouldn’t be in this alone. And I felt lightened by it. ” We couldn’t ask for better in-laws for our kids if that is the case also ” I looked at Enzo and Anthea , who were both looking at me proudly.

” Let’s go see our off spring. If the theory is right, it looks like we could be bed partners for the foreseeable future. We will have to get used to making free time some time in the day for other activities. I would say if the boss man let me , but I can see him disappearing and making time too . So we will be all good ” Devon threw out there, making everyone laugh. ” Too f*****g right ” Enzo muttered , making everyone laugh again. The mood lightened , as we all walked in.

The doctor looked shocked to see us all walking in ” Alpha , so nice to see you “. He greeted him and held his hand out. Enzo shook it and then he looked at Anthea ” Luna “. He bowed his head in respect. But he didn’t make a movement to touch her , knowing how possessive males are of anyone touching their mates. ” Beta Devon “. He shook Devon’s hand and then looked at me. ” Beta mate ” he bowed his head again and I smiled at him. “What do I owe the pleasure of the pack power couples all being here today ? ” he smiled.

” We’ve come for ultrasounds and check ups for our mates ” Enzo told him. And the doctor looked at me , his brain ticking. ” Yes Violet is pregnant also “, Devon confirmed to him. And he beamed. ” How wonderful is that , congratulations “. The room door burst open and the previous luna walked in looking pissed. Followed closely behind by a very sheepish looking mate of hers. He held his hands up ” Sorry guys , she found out what you were doing and I couldn’t stop her ” he said , smiling sheepishly, and that told me he wanted to be here just as much. ” It’s fine dad “, Enzo said, smiling.

” Damn right, it is fine , coming to see my grandchildren without me. You boys should know bloody better. I should smack you upside the head like I used to. As for you two , I will let you off just this once “, she chided us. She came over and kissed me on the cheek and then Anthea. ” Sorry Lu ” I went to say and she gave me a look. ” Mum , I am known to you as mum now Violet . Well , that is if you will give me that honor ” she said, actually looking a little unsure of herself which I had never seen with her. ” Sorry mum ” I answered her and she literally glowed at me using that term. ” Sorry mum ” Anthea added and the previous Luna nodded.

” We will need a bigger room. Your parents are on the way too, Anthea. Don’t worry, we will all go out for the examinations. But we are all excited about seeing the little pups for the first time. Get used to us being overbearing “, she grinned. Then he looked at the doctor. ” Can we move to a bigger room ? ” she asked and he nodded , trying to hide his smile. ” Of course. Two doors down is a bigger room , there is an ultra-sound machine already in there for these occasions “. We all filed out and met Antheas’ parents in the corridor. Then we all filed back into the other room. ” Do you not want your parents here ? ” I whispered to Devon. He shook his head. ” I have those here that matter , my parents will be OK with seeing the pictures the doc will print off ” he says back. I hadn’t even met his parents yet.

Anthea went first , and the doc put the picture up on a bigger screen. He was respectful to hardly touch her , letting Anthea pull her own top up. Then he ran the little device over her stomach , and around the room came a strong train sound. On the screen he pointed out where the babies were. ” I would say this one is the male , and this one the female. Just because he is a little bigger, which is normal. For twin wolf pregnancies. That is correct, isn’t it , you were told they would be male and female ? “he asked, and Enzo nodded , but his eyes were glued to the screen. His eyes were looking at every little detail and the small blobs moved and bounced.

” They are identical twins too, ” the doctor grinned. ” All looks healthy and they look to be growing well, ” he added. I heard soft crying and looked to see the previous Luna and Antheas’ mum huddled together , but crying as they looked at the screen. Anthea had tears slowly rolling down her cheeks too as she held Enzo’s hand and looked at the screen. The moment was beautiful.

After a few more minutes and the doctor taking some pictures of them , he pulled the little thing off of Anthea’s belly and cleaned it. He handed Enzo some paper to clean the gel he had put on her belly off too. He gently wiped it off and then helped her up. Pulling her into a tight hug. They then got pulled into more hugs by their parents. After that, Antheas’ mum and dad left , to give me privacy. Antheas’ mum was clutching one of the pictures on her chest. The difference in her was outstanding to what I had seen when I met her.

” Are you ready Violet ? “the doctor asked me. My heart started hammering in my chest. Devon grabbed my hand and squeezed it for support. Looking at Anthea, she looked a little nervous now too. This could possibly prove the theory right. ” Yea I’m ready ” the doctor looked a little confused by the mood in the room. He didn’t know what this could mean. Going to the table , Devon helped me slowly lay down and then he lifted my shirt up for me. ” The gel will be a little cold ” the doctor said gently , like he was scared I was ready to bolt. Maybe I was giving off that impression.

I grabbed Devons hand and squeezed it tightly when he placed the little thing on my stomach , and the screen lit back up. A strong rhythmic beat began again , and I felt water gather in my eyes. That was my baby’s heartbeat. ” Ahhh there it is ” the doctor smiled and on the screen came one blob wiggling and bouncing around. One , I could only see one. ” Is there just one ? “I asked , and the doctor looked at me. ” From what I can see ” he answered. I looked at Devon and Anteha , confused as to what this all meant now. Why were we feeling these things?

The doctor started moving the thing about again ” Oh ” he said, getting my attention. I snapped my head back at him. ” What ? ” Devon snapped at him. ” Well , one was hiding behind the other. Look here from this angle, you can see them both. Did you know it was twins ? ” the doctor asked us. Looking at the screen , I was too shocked to answer him. Twins, just like Anthea. ” Can you tell the s*x ? Like you did with Anthea ” I stuttered out. The doctor’s eyebrows furrowed and he went back to looking at the screen. ” Yes, the one hiding behind is smaller , so I would say one boy and the shy one is a girl . Sorry is everything alright ? “the doctor asked.

Was is ? As I looked at the screen I felt like my heart grew by a million , tears leaked down my face. I felt just by looking at them I knew them , a big strong brother protecting his shy sister. My babies , our babies are a mix of both of both of us. Even though I knew what this could mean , I didn’t care. I knew at that moment I would protect them , and they would protect each other. Looking at Devon , he looked just like I felt too. ” Yes doctor , yes everything is perfect “, I smiled, laughing. Devon looked down at me with so much love , I felt like it could set me on fire from the intensity of it. Looking behind him, the family I had chosen looked just as happy. All thoughts of not being ready for this disappeared. ” Your twins are healthy , and identical too ” the doctor said, outstanded. ” What are the odds of that ” he laughed in shock. ” Less than you think, doctor , if a sneaky little goddess planned it this way ” Devon smiled before leaning down to k**s me.
