” You can’t go to the waterfall , and she is watching you. If I use magic, they die, and she has turned the water in the waterfall to acid. I placed a stick in the water and it burnt it in seconds. There’s no longer a gap to sneak through either. The only way out is magic. And I can’t do that ” I said, feeling hopeless. What she had done was torture. The fact I could still speak to him , I am not sure is a good thing. He knew where I was, but there was nothing he could do. Lorna was terrified , Willow was beside herself, wanting to get back to her new mate. And the alpha was doing his best to keep us all calm , when he was nowhere near. He kept pacing back and forth , back and forth.

I think I was in shock , utter shock. ” Why didn’t you tell me ? ” I finally asked him , we had been here all day already. And we had yet to even mention it. ” I was told no to , so that she wouldn’t find out. Good f*****g job I did with that. I told the b***h directly out of my own mouth. I am so sorry Anthea , that is why I have been so suffocating. I just wanted to protect you and our pups “. The word just didn’t seem real. Surely I should have known , Sianna should have known. I heard mum say her wolf told her she was pregnant every time. Before she even felt any symptoms.

” Sianna , did you know ? ” I asked. I was sitting against the wall hugging my knees to my chest. I felt physically sick. Not from the pregnancy , from the thought of it, of what she was threatening to do. ” No , I should have. But I feel it has been hidden from us ” she said. ” The moon goddess , she was protecting the secret , maybe she thought if you knew you would act differently or something. Anthea , our babies. s**t , I am not even sure I should be telling you now. I was told not to tell you until Yianna was dead ” he sounded so conflicted. ” Tell me everything Enzo ” I told him , I needed to know.

” Our pups will be born with greatness , the power you think you still have , the strength. It is our pups that are giving you most of that. You will still be magical and powerful, but not like what you feel now. I had to let the moon goddess take your magic , because with Sianna’s full magic and the magic of our pups it would have been too much, dangerous. And if Yianna finds out it is the pups that she can sense , she will go after them. They will only get more when they are born. She said you and Sianna would know what to do to protect them. They will be like dragons , like Sianna. Poached , we have to build an army within our pack to protect them, and we need to accept differences to do that. That is everything she told me. She also said when I did speak about it she would make sure our link was safe. You can not tell anyone , and that is everything. I promise. Now tell me , help me. How do I get you back? ” She won’t stop , not until she gets what she wants. She is smart , she evades us and she never comes into the open where we can attack her. She knows we have the force. She uses brains, not brutes. The thing is, me and Sianna are stronger . Well, I thought we were now. You tell me it is the pups growing in my stomach. We should have taken her out in the castle. You stopped me. I could have done it. You don’t trust me to keep myself or you safe. In your mind, I am still the weak girl you wanted to reject. I could have done it , and now three people we love, their lives are in danger , our babies are in danger” I say spitefully.

” Anthea don’t , the goddess said this would happen , that you would blame me. We can’t do this, we need to stick together ” I felt myself, for the first time ever , hate the sound of his voice. It didn’t bring me comfort. I know I shouldn’t be blaming him. But I felt hurt , I was terrified. And the fact I now knew I was carrying pups , it was like my whole world shifted. I was in danger and my pups were , any confidence I had before seemed to drain out of me. And all I could think was what if she did what she promised , what if I could not protect my babies?

I shut mine and Enzo’s link off. I needed a minute to try and pull myself together. Putting my head down on my knees , I felt like I couldn’t breathe properly. I squeezed my eyes shut as tears sprang into them. I didn’t want to cry , I didn’t want her to come there and see me being weak. All the old feelings of not being enough came rushing back to me , consuming me whole. I had’t realized I was hyperventilating until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Enzo’s dad. ” Anthea ” he said, looking over me worriedly. I looked into the eyes that were so similar to Enzo’s to the ones that consumed me when their attention came my way. I opened my mouth to speak to him , but I couldn’t , I didn’t know what to say , I couldn’t tell him. I didn’t know if she was there watching.

” I . . . I ” I stammered , I licked my lips and tried to breathe air back into my lungs. ” I don’t know what to do ” I stammered out eventually , Lorna and Willow were now there too. The alpha grabbed my face and looked at me, his eyes narrowed. ” We will get out of here OK , you are not solely responsible for saving everyone. So stop acting like it ” he told me sternly. I could tell him what she already knows , just not everything. ” She says I am pregnant , Enzo knew. He didn’t tell me. He says we are having twins “. The alpha’s face goes all confused. He looks down at my stomach, then back at me.

” Why would Enzo know ? How would he know and not you ? ” he asked and I shook my head slightly , so slightly I hoped it wouldn’t be picked up on if we did have onlookers. ” I don’t know , I don’t know anything but that. All I know is she threatened if Enzo doesn’t get her that magic back , she threatened to hurt them ” I sobbed. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest ” I’m going to be a grandpa “, he whispered, and it only made me sob harder. He pulled me back off of him to look into my eyes. ” Use magic , let her take me. Get you and my grandpups out and these two. If my sacrifice saves you and those babies, it will be my honour ” he said , but I was already shaking my head.

” No , no I can’t. She did;t say we had a choice of who she kills , and I won’t. You’re not doing that , you can’t do it. We need you ” I told him. His face fell. He hadn’t thought of that. It is one thing to sacrifice yourself , but to willingly sacrifice another. No person that was not evil somewhere in themselves could do that. “How touching ” came Yianna’s voice. The alpha jumped up , his stance predatory. “Calm down Alpha , one little flick of this and you’ll have one hell of a head ache”. I couldn’t see her. So I got myself up off of the floor , but the Alpha was soon to stand blocking mine and her path , putting himself in between us.

” Why is it everyone likes you? I don’t see it ” she says, looking over the alpha’s shoulder at me. ” Because I am nothing like you , your nut job. She just smirked my way as being called those sort of names amused her. ” How ungrateful , I brought you all some food, water and some blankets. ” She clicked her fingers and moldy food with flies around it appeared in the middle of the floor , water in bottles that looked green , and blankets that from here looked stained and the smell coming off of them I could smell from here. The smell made me gag.

She looked at all our disgusted faces and laughed. ” What ? not grateful ? ” she said. When none of us answered her she shrugged ” Well , I will just leave it there, just incase you change your mind. Now I have to go visit some friends of mine. I mean they were more, Firya’s friends, but I am hoping I can persuade them just the same as she did. Your lover boy’s friends keep telling him he should inform the council about all of this. The last thing we want now is them sticking their noses in. All he needs to do , is go speak to whoever or whatever has my magic. I mean I guess you know too , but seen as something or someone is stopping me penetrating your minds. I am guessing you didn’t yank it out this time by yourself . You have some help from the big guys.
