Third person’s POV

“I want Miriam, and you are not going to kill her. I do not care what you do to her mother, but she is mine, and I will keep her away from you. You will never see her again,” Andrew, Miriam’s old mate, says to her father, Morgan.

“Hmm, we will talk about that later. We must defeat the Kingdom first to get to them, and we only have the dark witches to help us.

I do not know if I trust Ursula and her witches. What if they kill us after the war? You know the dark witches do not like werewolves,” Morgan says.

“We will attack them before they can even think of attacking us. While they are concentrating on the aftermath, we move in quickly and catch them unexpectedly. You know that the witches like to recover after they use a lot of magic, and that is when we will attack. I want your daughter, and I want her to be my Luna. I do not care that she has another mate. I will kill him and make Miriam my Luna. We will be family, and the packs will become one. We can rule the Kingdom and be the new Kings. We will divide the Kingdom in two as it is big enough for both of us to become wealthy,” Andrew says.

“Hmm, I like that we will become family. It is a shame I only have one bloody daughter, but if that will unite our packs and we can run the Kingdom together, I will give you Miriam. We will rule the two kingdoms by the rule of the wolf. The stupid King and Queen are partying, thinking their problems are over! I have a surprise for them! Their problems have just started!” Morgan laughs.

“Yeah, luckily, we have other spies in there who rely not only on the witch’s daughter. The spies have not seen her around lately, so she must be hiding because the magical creatures in the Kingdom must have traced her. I hope they catch her and kill her. It is one less problem for us. I know the witches think she is a stupid little hybrid, but I have seen her in action, and I can promise you she is much more powerful than they think. I think she is stronger than her mother but lacks the confidence,” Andrew says.

“I know I have seen her around the other witches, and she can beat all of them. I have three mates and would not mind another one, and I might take her as my next mate. I love living by the rule of the wolf, as you do not have limits and can do as you please. Nina will be perfect as my third mate as I will have a strong magical mate, and since she is into dark magic, I do not think she will care to have a mate with other mates at his side. Dark witches do not mind sharing men and do not care as much about love and all that bullshit. I do not think she believes in the mate bond, as I also do not believe in it. The dark gods we follow now are more lenient than Selene regarding having more than one mate,” Morgan says with a smile.

“Then you better hope the wolves of the Kingdom do not get hold of her and kill her if you want her for a mate,” Andrew says. He is still unsure about the dark gods and the rule of the wolf, but he will tackle that problem when needed.

“They do not like to kill wolves. The wolves at the party talked about how sad the Queen was when she had to kill the dogmen and other werewolves, and I do not think that she and even the King like to kill werewolves. That will be their downfall. Even in the upcoming war, we will launch against the Kingdom, and they will be reluctant to kill our wolves or us. I do not have female warriors, as I believe a woman’s place is in the packhouse raising children. The more children you have, the better for the future of your pack. I already have about five sons and one daughter, Miriam. We need to get ready and train our wolves even more. My wolves are savage and do not mind killing she-wolves, but if they can spare them, we take them to our pack and have more mates. We can save some, and they can be the women in the Kingdom that will soon be ours. We must also think of names for our kingdoms. I like the names of the old kingdoms, Essex and Sussex. What do you think?” Morgan says.

“Yeah, it sounds cool, but we must win the war before considering names. The packs from the other royals will be here tomorrow, and then we can start planning the war. We will need to see if they are well-trained and train them if they are not. I believe those kingdoms were not at war for a long time as they had no enemies and used to party more than fight. Well, the royals partied, and the wolves worked,” Andrew says. He is not willing to talk about the future as he does not really like Morgan and the way he lives.

“Well, we will see tomorrow when everyone is here. I have a young little she-wolf in my room waiting for me. See you in the morning when they arrive,” Morgan says. They do not know that some of the Kingdom’s wolves will arrive with the other royal packs. The royals do not know every royal pack from all over the world, and it is easy for the Kingdom’s wolves to get in and see what the wolves are up to. They know about the spies as they can feel the wolves that are spying are not from the Kingdom, and they feed them false information to give them hope that they can win the fight.

“Sleep well,” Andrew says as he thinks about Miriam. She is so beautiful, and he can kick himself for rejecting her the first time. What was he thinking? Why did he leave her? It was his pride. He did not want a hybrid witch as his mate. Andrew knows better now, and he wants Miriam back. He will fight for her, and does not care how strong her mate is. He will die for her. He knows now how much she meant to him after she left. He was going crazy, and his wolf was not happy at all. He can only blame himself for it. Andrew looks up as Gretha walks in. She does not look happy, but she never does. Gretha knows that Andrew is her mate and that his obsession with Miriam is not love. Yes, there was a time Andrew and Miriam were mates, but Andrew broke that bond the day he rejected Miriam. Gretha was friends with Miriam when they were children, and she did not hold a grudge against Miriam. She looks at Andrew, and her heart is bleeding. He will get himself killed for Miriam, who has moved on and has a new mate. She knows Miriam is not in love with Andrew anymore.

“Alpha, I am back from the Kingdom. I know the spies say the wolves are relaxed after the war, but I’m afraid I have to disagree. They are well-trained and will kick our butts if we fight them. They have a mighty army, and I have seen them train. Our wolves are not even close to their level of training. I am begging you to forget about this war. Miriam has a powerful mate who is also magical like her. In my opinion, you will be better off looking for your second chance mate and forgetting about Miriam,” Gretha says.

“Do not tell me what to do! You may be my Beta, but I can tell you now that Miriam belongs to me, and I will die fighting for her,” Andrew says.

“Well, suit yourself! I will not endanger my men so that you can smooth your ego! I love this pack, and you are putting them in danger for your own selfish reasons,” Gretha says.

“How dare you talk to me like that? I am your Alpha, and you may be the head of my army, but the wolves of this pack are my men, not yours! The pack does not belong to you unless you want to challenge me for the Alpha position,” Andrew says.

“If you cared about your pack, you would leave this war! You will think of your warriors and their families,” Gretha says. She is about to turn around and walk out when Andrew grabs her by her arm. He let go of her arm as fast as he grabbed it. What the hell was that? Did he feel a spark between them? No! He loves Miriam and will never even think of having another mate. Andrew does not realize that the years he has been searching for Miriam have made him obsessed with Miriam and that his love for her has died long ago. He is too stubborn to admit that he has wasted time – time he could have spent with his fated mate. He looks at Gretha and snorts.

“I care about my pack. I want to bring their Luna home. I want her to be by my side and help me rule my half of the Kingdom. I want to make her my Qeeun,” Andrew says.

“You are wasting your time. Miriam will hate you for killing her true mate and will never love you in return. You can not force someone you hurt in the past to love you. You might also lose your second chance mate, if you keep on going like this,” Gretha says as she walks out of the room. Gretha is furious. She loves Andrew, and her wolf, and even his wolf know they are mates, but Andrew will not accept it. She is heartbroken. Maybe she should go to Miriam and beg her to please meet Andrew somewhere where they can talk alone, and it will be safe for them to meet. Maybe if Andrew sees her, he will realize that he is not in love with her and will realize his obsession is not love. Gretha will beg Miriam to make Andrew see that they do not stand a chance as she is not in love with him and will not take him back. Her father can go to war with the other packs joining them, but she will not take her wolves to war.

The witches have joined them, and Gretha does not like the old hags, and she hates their black magic and everything they stand for. Andrew and Morgan are praying to the dark gods that are also of no help to them, and she is worried about going to war using the dark gods. Gretha’s heart is heavy as she looks at her pack and the wolves who think they can win the Kingdom. They do not know how many wolves there are in the Kingdom. The packs have not gone home after the party, which tells her they know more about the attack than they let the spies know.

The following morning, the wolves of the other kingdoms arrive. They do not look like warriors but more like workers. There is only one group of wolves that looks well-trained and fit, and they are from the guards of the royals from a pack somewhere in Europe. No one asks questions, and Gretha does not care about where the wolves are from, as she thinks of a way to get her wolves out of this mess. She hates Morgan! He is a real a*****e and treats women as if they are his s*x slaves that are only good enough for making babies.

The wolves of the Kingdom look around at the troops that will fight them, and they almost laugh but keep themselves from doing so. They are in the enemy’s camp and have to behave so they can find out what the hell is going on. They keep to themselves, as most of the groups do. They look at the wolves from different packs train and smile. If only their training were so easy. Their King and Queen will never allow any of these wolves to fight. They will send them to training before they go to any war. The poor wolves and witches do not stand a chance against the wolves of the Kingdom.
