Chapter 56

I’m getting ready for another party and this time, it’s going to be a joyous celebration.

Emily helped me get ready quickly while Elsie came over to my room to play with Nevaeh a bit.

Nevaeh is a very sweet child, it’s been only about two weeks since she was born and yet she hasn’t troubled me for a second. She barely cries, she only does when she’s hungry, messy or when she just needs my attention.

“It’s such a shame that I can’t take her outside of this room yet, she’s just so beautiful. Don’t worry Nevie, I’ll give you a little cousin to play with soon.” She said and tickled my little angel who laughed so sweetly. Nevie is the nickname that Elsie gave to my daughter and I have to admit that it suits her well.

“Good, you’re done. You’re looking so beautiful as always. Emily will look after Nevie while we’re gone.” Elsie said and I nodded. I kissed my little princess before heading to the Grand hall with Elsie for the party.

“Richard is going to make a special announcement today.” She informed me and her words did not fail to catch my curiosity.

She didn’t wait for me to pull on my questioning expression before she continued. “It’s top secret so I can’t tell you, you’ll find out in time just like everybody else.” Elsie said and I sighed. I hate this kind of suspense. At least I’m glad that it’s going to be good news since Alpha Richard is going to make the announcement during the party.

We soon arrive at the party and my eyes search around for Kayden but I don’t spot him instantly. I wonder if he’s still getting ready.

Just then, I feel strong arms suddenly wrap around me and my heart nearly reaches my throat but my fears dissipate when I feel his warm breath on my ears which causes me to blush and his voice melodiously rings in my ear.

“Hey princess, you’re looking so hot today. You look so beautiful that I just want to take off your clothes and k**s you all over.” He whispered and my whole face turned red. Why would he say such a thing when Elsie’s just a few inches away from me. What if she or someone else hears what he just said?

I try to hide my blush and hit him with my elbow. That does the trick and he detaches from me. “Really? What was that for?” He grumbled, pretending like he was actually hurt. I playfully glared at him and he apologized.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sneak up on you like that.” He apologized and I gave him a ‘Is that all?’ look. “And I’m sorry if my words made you feel uncomfortable but I have to admit you look pretty cute in that outfit and you look cuter when you blush.” He said with a smirk and I bit down on my l*p, trying hard to hold my blush. This guy is really testing my patience, isn’t he? Is he trying to get me all hot and heavy in the middle of a party? I take a deep breath and regain my composure while Elsie just laughs at me.

“I swear the both of you are just so cute to watch. I almost can’t wait for the both of you to officially become mates. I’m sure that you’ll both be inseparable.” Elsie said and I rolled my eyes with a smile. Is she really going to side with him and tease me further?

Just then, Alpha Richard grabs everyone’s attention and gives his opening speech, after that he calls on my attention and reveals that the party is in honor of me. Everyone applauds and my stomach nearly drops to the floor in nervousness. I’m still not good with crowds, especially when all their attention is focused on me but something tells me I’ll have to get used to it sooner than later.

He then also reveals that he has a special announcement for everyone but he would be revealing it later on, during the progress of the party.

Though I’m still recovering from delivery and just want to sit at a corner of the room and just watch everyone else have fun like I’m used to doing, Elsie and Kayden and even Ana don’t want to have any of it.

They engaged me throughout the party, we ate, they talked and I laughed. Kayden made me slow dance with him despite the fact that I’ve never danced before while Elsie shared a couple’s dance with Alpha Richard. Despite my refusal, Kayden wouldn’t take no for an answer and so I gave in but his toes suffered the consequences of his persistence. It was so embarrassing but he didn’t give me the chance to pull away, I had so much fun with them. It was the most fun that I had ever had in my life.

About two hours later, Alpha Richard requested our attention once more so that he could finally announce the special news that everyone’s been speculating about.

I don’t know but I’m feeling very nervous about it.

“Why the nervousness this time, Evelyn? Isn’t there something you could be happy or giddy about?” Tara said and I rubbed on my temple tiredly. ‘It seems like something very important since everyone’s been talking about it. Of course I’m nervous because I have absolutely no idea what to expect.’ I explained to her.

“Rest assured sweetheart, I’m pretty sure that it’s good news.” Tara assured me. ‘I really hope so, I’ve heard too much bad news to last me this lifetime.’ I said and Tara chuckled.

“Evelyn, could you please come up here?” Alpha Richard called, increasing my fears. Elsie stood beside him and she was practically grinning from ear to ear. What could this be about? I hesitated a bit, clenching the sides of my dress tightly. I took a deep breath and walked up to where the Alpha stood with my head bowed. As I walked through the crowd, I could hear whispers from them. I wonder what everyone must be thinking. This announcement seems to be about me but what in the world could it be about?

No matter how slowly I walked, I finally got to where the Alpha stood and I stood beside, keeping my eyes down.

“I’m sure everyone is aware of what Evelyn over here has done for this pack. Despite the fact that she’s not from this pack, she has done us and most especially me, a huge favor. She was able to destroy a huge conspiracy and saved my life by putting her life and that of her child on the line.

I cannot thank her enough for her bravery, she has proven herself to us and she has shown her true capabilities so she has to be rewarded accordingly. So I as the Alpha of the Kizmet pack have come to a decision.

From today henceforth, Evelyn shall be known as the Beta female of this pack and everyone must accord her the respect she deserves as the Beta female. Is that understood?” Alpha Richard questioned and my breath hitched in my throat when my brain was finally able to process what he had just said.
