Rejected By My Mate, Chosen By Fate -
Chapter 61
Aurelia had a newborn baby in her arms and Hendrick was beside her. She was smiling contentedly while people congratulated them continuously on the birth of their son.
“She looks happy, everything seems to be fine, I’m really not seeing the consequence of their wish.” I blurted out before I could stop myself.
“You should be patient, everything in life has its own natural order. I can see you’re really enjoying your ability to speak, just be careful not to misuse it too much.” Voithós said in a light tone and I clenched my fists in anger but Kayden held my hand and I felt my anger instantly disappear. How is it possible that only he has the power to change my mood even with the slightest of gestures or contact?
“You don’t have to be so strict, she didn’t say anything wrong, she was just asking questions.” Kayden defended me and a smile lit my face.
“I never said she was doing something wrong, I only said to be careful with the ability she has been granted. Selene seems to consider her special for some reason and that’s the reason the both of you are getting a private tour into history. The least you can do is keep quiet and let me do the talking.” Voithós said so calmly and sweetly that his words directly contrasted his tone. His words didn’t even sound offensive but I knew it would be better to keep my mouth shut until we were done with all of this.
“I’m sorry.” I apologised. “There’s really no need to apologize but, apology accepted.” He said and I rolled my eyes. Haughty, much?
We were teleported to the next scene and it was when their son, Daniel found his mate. The final scene was when Daniel’s mate, Elizabeth was in labour.
Elizabeth gave birth to her child successfully but her baby girl was born blind and that’s when I finally understood what Voithós meant. Goddess Selene was wasn’t inclined to do us favours, every blessing we receive is given as a reward for our hard work and the same thing seems to go for a wish.
Even wishes from the goddess apparently isn’t free, seemingly nothing is. Wishes do you have their consequences and Voithós’s words instantly rang in my head. He had told me to choose my words wisely.
“Oh my goodness, their granddaughter was born blind. why did this innocent little baby have to suffer such a harsh fate of which she knows nothing about?” Kayden questioned and I wondered the same thing.
“The funny thing about wishes is that they are blessings from the goddess herself and once you’re showered with her blessings, it manifests in all areas of one’s life. Whomever the wish is granted cannot be harmed directly by the consequence but it always comes in such a way that causes equal pain.” Voithós said and a slight shiver ran through me.
“So wishes are a bad thing?” Kayden questioned. “No, not really. It generally depends on how they are used. The consequence isn’t always bad if the wish is used to help others instead of for selfish reasons. Only the vampire couple were able to use their wish wisely and reap the benefits instead of a disturbing consequence but still, we’re not talking about them. I’m sure the experience of the next couple will leave you speechless, Kayden.” Voithós said and we disappeared once more.
This time, we appeared in front of the Kizmet pack’s palace. “What are we doing here? I thought we were going to see the experience of the next couple so why have you brought us home?” I questioned and Voithós shook his head in the negative.
“The last couple that used the book to make a wish resided in this pack.” Voithós said and didn’t leave room for any further questions before teleporting us into the palace.
We were soon in a large and beautiful room in the palace, I’m not sure that I’ve ever been in this room before.
In the room, there’s a very handsome and able bodied man who I suspect to be the Alpha and a very pretty woman is sitting on a chair and holding a sleeping baby in her arms. She appears to be sad and almost on the verge of tears.
“No! No, no, no, no……….. No!” Kayden nearly screamed, shocking me out of my wits. “These are my parents.” He exclaimed and only then did I look at them closely. Kayden looked more like his mother, I guess that’s why he’s so beautiful. While Richard seems to take after his father’s facial features.
“Yes, you’re correct. It is your parents and that’s why my book was found hidden away in your library. Your parents were the last to use the magic of the goddess’s miracle.
It might be a little hard to believe at first but you’ll understand everything if you watch carefully and quietly as well.” Voithós said and it was soon my turn to comfort Kayden.
I took his hand in mine and squeezed it softly, causing him to direct his attention to me. “It’ll be alright, I promise.” I said with a reassuring smile and he smiled back at me.
“Alpha Nicholas and Luna Nevaeh were one of the best Alpha couples of this pack. They were strong, confident and intelligent and they ruled the pack well for years. They first had a son which they named Thomas but he died a few months after birth.” Voithós said monotonously, just like he was reading a book that he wasn’t even interested in but this was actually the history of a family, Kayden’s family for that matter.
“What?!” Kayden exclaimed, evidently shocked. “My mother never had a son named Thomas. It’s just Richard and I.” He defended, he obviously wasn’t taking the sudden focus on his family well.
“I’m the guardian here, I’m the immortal who has lived for thousands of years. I know all about your family up to the very first generation so please do not contradict me. Your parents never told you about your eldest brother, Thomas, because he was already dead and needed to be forgotten. They felt mentioning him would only cause unnecessary grief for the both of you. I’m a celestial being so I don’t really need to prove myself but just to clear your doubts, have you ever wondered why your parents used to light candles and declare the 14th of March a day free of work every year?” Voithós questioned.
