Rejected, Then Reborn -
Chapter 17
Reed stared at the letter for what was most probably the umpteenth time.
His plan had failed. Miserably.
Apparently, the stupid bastard of a werewolf, Lucius Smith, did not have as much need for his ex-wife as he had initially thought. The Alpha King had thought this plan a full proof one… one that was guaranteed to work, because even if it wasn’t for the fact that the Werewolf was still in love with his ex-wife and wanted her back, Reed thought that at least, he’d want her in his custody so he could better prevent the dark secret of his remarriage from coming out, hence the letter he had written asking for an exchange. But the stupid i***t had not risen to the bait, choosing instead to continue to hold on to Lyken family heirlooms that did not in any way belong to him.
Under normal circumstances, the older Winchester would have given zero f***s about some treasure he had never even set his sights on, but his mother had made him swear on her deathbed to retrieve them at all costs except through war, and for as long as the Lyken king could remember, he had been hell bent on fulfilling that promise. The thing is, if war had even been an option on the table, Reed was not even sure he would have allowed it, because he cared too much about the clan he now ruled over to put them in harm’s way like that just because of some treasures that belonged in his family.
But the human girl.
She had been perfect. The perfect way to get what he wanted without harming anyone else. Granted, she would have probably been killed again if that outrageous story she had told him was true, but what did he care anyway? She wasn’t his responsibility?
And up until two weeks ago, he did not even know she f*****g existed for crying out loud.
The question now was, what was he going to do with her now that his grand plan had failed? Did he still keep her prisoner in the hopes that the Werewolf would change his mind and come for her in exchange for the treasures his ancestors had stolen? Or did he grant her her only request and let her go back to her human family?
As much as he Alpha king wanted it, even he knew that death was no longer an option for her… because now he cared a little bit too much to subject her to such a vile end.
And that was another thing that irked Reed greatly.
The fact that he was becoming more and more attracted to her as the days went by was another thing that was getting on the Alpha King’s nerves, for it seemed he couldn’t turn off his guilt regulator whenever he was around her, and guilty he was again, because he had done the same thing he did to her a few days ago, the very thing he had punished her for calling him out on…
He had avoided her after another steamy confrontation.
But gods knew that this time, he had absolutely wanted to go all the way… gods knew that he had wanted nothing more than to claim her lips… to taste her, to feel her writhing beneath him, even as she m****d his name out loud while he pleasured her senseless… not because he cared, but because she was his s*x slave and he could do whatever he goddamn pleased with her. But that godforsaken letter had chosen the wrong time to be delivered, and the untimely interruption had jump started his conscience once more.
Then again, Reed Alderon Winchester never had a conscience? And for a long time, he had always thought that he never would.
For he always did as he pleased, so long as he believed it to be right— even if it was a little questionable to onlookers… because, he did not owe anyone any explanation when it really came down to it, f**k, he was the bloody Alpha King of the entire Lyken Kingdom for crying out loud.
There was a knock on his study door in that moment, one that roused Reed from his musings. “Yeah, come in.” He barely lifted his head from his laptop, for he had already sniffed out who it was. He instead took advantage of the door closing to swiftly hide the letter that had been plaguing his entire day from his ever perceptive best friend. He had known the doctor would come looking for him, because they hadn’t seen each other since Reed had sacked him from Lacy’s room after all, and despite their equally busy schedules, it really was unusual not to have at least a five minutes’ chat before a day ended. “Hey, man.”
“Yeah,” Reed relaxed in his chair, finally staring at his friend who was in that moment making himself comfortable on one of the chairs opposite him, “Why have you cooped yourself up in here like so? I thought you’d be hanging out with Rieka and Lobo in the sparring room. I went there first only to be told that they hadn’t seen you all day. That is unusual.”
“I didn’t feel like sparring today,” Reed gruffly responded, his answer curt and short, “How was your day?”
“Uneventful as usual, until Lacy showed up in my office that is,” The doctor said, a smirk making its way onto his face at the Alpha King’s quick change of demeanor.
Reed tried his best to school his face into one of unconcern, but even he knew that it was already late and he had already been caught, but the thing was, Ace’s sudden interest in what Xavier had to say had completely taken him by surprise, catching him off guard a bit, because his beastly half had been giving him the cold shoulder since their first major fight in a while, putting mind blocks in place and basically ignoring his entire existence… but one mention of the girl they had literally fought over, and he was rearing his ugly head. “I hope she came in guarded,” Reed finally managed to say, earning a pointed look from his friend, “Really, man? You won’t even ask if she’s okay?”
“If she wasn’t you’d tell me, right?” Reed countered. “I mean yeah, but it’s still polite to ask anyway,” Xavier shot back, causing Reed to lean forward, “You’ve known me for a long time man,” He smirked, “Does polite fit anywhere in my vocabulary?”
“Fair point, douche.” They both chuckled, but the Alpha king quickly turned serious, “She’s okay though, right?”
“Yeah, yeah… she just had body pains and needed some painkillers, is all. Get this, she was trying HIIT exercises. Women! I’m not sure I can ever understand them.”
At his friend’s words Reed burst into laughter, shaking hard for a good two minutes. Gods! He had really needed this. “That was what she told you?” He asked when the laughter finally ceased, f**k… she wasn’t such a bad liar after all, because apparently, Xavier had swallowed her story hook, line and sinker. Reed realized that he had to give her credit. She was prepared to go embarrassing lengths to ensure that their agreement was a secret. Even he could respect that.
“Why, is that code for something? You know I barely understand women sometimes… you’re the one who seems to be changing them just as quickly as I change my plastic gloves, after all.” Xavier chuckled.
“No, no… it’s no code. I just can’t picture her doing HIIT, that’s all.”
“Exactly my sentiment when she told me too, man.” Xavier agreed passionately. For a while, I felt like a sexist bastard.”
“If you are, then I guess I am one too,” Reed teased good naturedly, his mind taking him back to when she had taken off the bathrobe like he had requested. f**k was she divine. His c**k had stood at attention almost immediately, as though it had wanted to pay homage to the woman who had looked like nothing but a radiant queen. She had taken on a submissive stance then, but nothing about her had screamed submissive. Her eyes had said it all, and he had heard it, but like a man hooked on cocaine, he had wanted to unnerve her further. And then gods, when he had pulled her onto his laps… he had relished in the sound she had let out, that cross between a gasp and a shriek, but what he had loved even more was the soft little m***s she had let out as he smacked her a*s over and over again… the very ones she tried so desperately to muffle so he wouldn’t hear them.
His kinky, little s*x slave.
He badly looked forward to their next encounter, but thinking about it, he wasn’t exactly sure that was a good idea.
Reed looked down at his slacks, his erect c**k stared back innocently at him. It had never happened that he be stuck thinking about an encounter with a woman, and then even worse, have a hard on based on that alone without any physical stimulation, for the Alpha king was a very passionate man… and he had more than his fair share of women, ever at his beck and call when those horny moments set in to take care of him… and so for this to happen, and over some human girl badly bruised his ego.
“You okay man?” He heard Xavier call out, “Yeah, yeah,” He answered, “Are Rieka and Lobo still in the sparring room? I could do with letting off some steam,”
“Knowing those two, they’ll probably be there, let’s head over there then, I’ve got something I want to talk about with you, we can discuss it on the way.”
Reed nodded his head in understanding, standing up to lock the drawer that contained the letter. It wasn’t as though anyone could just barge into his office, it was just that a little caution didn’t hurt sometimes.
“Are you set, man?” Xavier asked, raising his head from his phone. “Yeah, we can leave now.”
And so the two made their way over to Reed’s huge hall, the very place he had had his first master-slave session with Lacy and then went out the grand doors, with Reed locking up behind him. “So, what did you want to discuss?” The Alpha King finally asked.
“Oh, I just wanted to talk about the little human.”
Reed shot his friend a look, “What about her?”
“Did you know that she’s a practicing nurse?”
He did not know that.
The only conversations they had had was either about that f*****g mateship bond or about her role as his s*x slave. Reed actually hadn’t thought about getting to know her more, because until recently, he had barely paid that much attention to her than was necessary, and so he said, “Oh really? I did not know that.”
“Yeah, man… and you know how most of the time the Pack clinic is short staffed and all—”
“She’s not working with you, Xavi,” His order was clear and simple, he actually wanted to say more, but they had entered the sparring room, and their two friends, Lobo and Rieka were headed their way.
Lobo and Rieka were a brother-sister twin duo who also doubled as Reed’s Beta and Gamma generals and it only took one glance to understand why they had been given the role. Xavier liked to call them the Hulk twins whenever they were out of earshot, but even he knew that the nickname had reached them. “Finally, the King shows up,” Rieka smirked sexily, her pixie cut blond hair falling in her face as she shook her head, “I was starting to wonder if this would be the first time you’d skip a sesh,” Rieka was taller than most women… almost at Reed’s nose even without heels, and the Alpha King was a very tall man, so you can imagine. She was one of those women who managed to love aggressive sports and still somehow found a way to maintain their femininity.
“Not even in your wildest dreams, Ri,” Reed smirked back, turning to Lobo and doing the bro handshake. Lobo was one of those people who barely spoke unless he absolutely needed to, and so his friends seldom bothered him with conversation, “Where’s Henderson?” The Alpha King inquired of his chief warrior, “Somewhere sucking face with his flavor of the week, I guess,” Rieka shivered in disgust, causing Reed to shake his head in amusement, “Y’all should get the ring ready, I feel like boxing today… lemme finish real quick with Xavier here and join you soon.”
“You got it, boss,” Rieka murmured, her brother only nodded, and then they waltzed off, leaving the two best friends all alone once again, “Come on, man… just think about it, how long are you going to keep her locked up—”
“Fine, she can work with you.” He begrudgingly conceded.”
“Wait, what?” Xavier really had to do a double take, for he had certainly not thought that his friend would give in that easily, he had as a matter of fact been prepared to dive into a very hearty debate, but his friend had given in so easily that it quite threw him off guard, “Are you sure about this?”
Reed glared at him, “You don’t want her working anymore?”
“No, no… it’s just— never mind, this is great… I’ll let her know tomorrow during her walks. And don’t worry… I won’t keep her for long hours.”
“You’d better not.” Reed warned, walking away from his friend and towards his two sparring partners. He turned to seek out the good doctor, but he had already left.
For some reason, as Reed crossed the large room over to the boxing ring, his mind was cast back to when he had watched Xavier and Lacy through the cameras. He remembered their cozy interaction, the way he had made her laugh constantly. His heart seemed to stop, even as a soft curse slipped past his slips.
What had he done?
How could he have forgotten all about that? It was too late to change his mind now too, since he didn’t want to give his best friend any indication that he cared about the girl more than he let on, and so he was stuck with his stupid mistake.
“You coming, boss?” Rieka called out loudly, interrupting his thoughts. At this point, he had no choice but to fight his frustration away. Thankfully, he had two powerful people who could take him on just fine.
