Ace practically rolled his eyes as the huge crowd ahead became alive with gasps and murmurs and shrieks, the place just as quickly becoming silent when he let out a low growl of warning.

Crowds.

He hated them with a passion. He sniffed the air proudly, a soft warmth engulfing at the pungent smell of fear that filled his nose.

Yes, they were scared of him.

They really needed to be.

“I’m done here, Reed.” He grumbled to his other half, the size of the crowd putting him on edge even though the fear he could sense should have been enough to calm him down.

It was the human.

Why the giant Lyken Alpha hated her like so, he had no idea… but for some reason, his human half couldn’t stay away, and so he had to make little sacrifices, like tolerating her for a little bit. This was apparently as far as he could go though.

Reed felt bones shift and crack and rearrange, and then he was in control once more, his clothes of dark jeans, a matching t-shirt and his dark leather jacket still on, thanks to the pill he took.

Already, he could feel his mood darkening as he neared the bloody entrance, a few lykens in the dark alley nearby passionately sticking their tongues down each other’s throats. The Alpha king’s skin crawled with disgust as he tore his gaze away.

This was where they had brought her?

It seemed that people noticed his arrival while he was deep in contemplation, for all of a sudden, people started to bow, and then he was quickly being approached by the owner of the club, a surprisingly smallish and yet larger than life wolf called Angelo. “Your Eminence!” Small guy bowed excitedly, “We weren’t expecting you, welcome to the Elixir!”

“Is my sister here?” He got right to the point as they headed inside, not really in the mood for conversation. They walked past the huge queue of patronizers who couldn’t wait to be let in, each and everyone of them bowing in reverence as they strolled by, a few staring at him with fear and love and respect, others staring at him with envy. “Yes, she is.” Angelo confirmed with a pleased smile, fully basking in the reverence that was being bestowed to him secondhandedly for walking with the Alpha King. “You know we offer nothing but the best services for our VVIP clients. They’re currently on the dancefloor. Do you want to see them now?”

Reed pondered over the question.

If he sought them out now, the Princess was going to catch on that it had something to do with the human, and then from there, it wasn’t really going to be that difficult to put the rest of the pieces together.

He couldn’t have that.

And so he said, “No. Take me someplace quiet where I can have a view of the entire dancefloor.”

“I have just the perfect place Your Eminence.”

“Good.”

****

Reed had told Angelo that he wanted peace and quiet, but someway somehow, the smallish lyken had interpreted that to mean flooding the otherwise quiet, elegant rooftop spot with women who had earlier tried to move onto him. He had shot them a glare so powerful that they had backed off in fright, hovering in the background instead. He had a view of the entire dancefloor like Angelo had promised, and he could even see the bar as well, and all from his single spot in the super cozy chair that had been provided him.

From behind him, the Alpha King could hear m***s and gasps and whimpers, tell-tale signs that the she-lykens Angelo had brought him were getting freaky either way, with or without him… but he didn’t even care. All of his being was fixated on finding the one woman who plagued his thoughts when he was awake and haunted his dreams even when he was asleep… and until he had seen her, he was just going to sit there and enjoy his expensive drink.

It struck Reed as funny seeing the people down there dance, for he couldn’t hear the music, and so from his point of view, it looked like a bunch of people crazily jumping as though they were possessed. It was truly hilarious,

But then that little smirk of amusement on the Alpha King’s face suddenly vanished and then he sat upright, his sharp gaze even more focused.

He had seen her. At the bar.

His little human.

He couldn’t call her slave anymore because he had kind of relinquished that right when he gave her her freedom, but in that moment, he really wished he hadn’t… because then he would have still been able to keep her away, hidden from all those men and their hungry, roving eyes. The Alpha king felt his fingers clench involuntarily as his chest heaved in anger, a primal part of him wishing he could violently gauge every male in there’s eyes out, so they wouldn’t peep at her otherworldly beauty.

Too much?

He didn’t even care. It seemed like the most fitting punishment.

But on a real though, she looked stunning… radiant in a short red dress that seemed to have been made just for her, and for the first time since Reed had known her, her dark curly hair was straightened, falling across her back in a curtain of bone straight waves.

She was mesmerizing.

The human seemed lighter, she seemed freer having fun with his sister and the other girls, but no one else held his attention. Only her.

In that moment, it was almost as though she were the only one in the room.

Reed watched in fascination and a little bit of amusement as she gulped down some shots and then winced painfully as the alcohol passed through her system, the wince turning into what seemed to be loud boisterous laughter as the she-lykens applauded her, and then they were dashing to the dancefloor. Even before they reached there, the Alpha King’s heartbeat had already picked up, a little coil of fire already shooting to his groin in anticipation. Gods, with the sexy dress she was in, it wasn’t going to take much him to make him hard.

Nothing prepared him for the next minutes though.

Watching her body gyrating like so, her fingers roaming her own body in the most seductive of ways, her h**s swaying to the silent rhythm, Reed had only one word.

f****d.

That was what he was, sitting there with his c**k standing at attention. That was what his attraction to the girl had turned him into— a man who couldn’t f*****g think straight because of this puny human who had so deeply ingrained herself in every aspect of his life.

Oh, how he wanted to deeply ingrain himself in her warm wet heat. How he wanted to take her right there and then, everyone else be damned. How he wanted to make her writhe and thrash in pleasure, his name the only thing on her mind and on her tongue.

“I can read your thoughts, Reed. You’re here because of the rejection process, not the filthy stuff in your head. Get her and let’s get out of here and get this nonsense over and done with.” Ace called out irritably, but Reed paid his lyken wolf no mind, going as far as to completely block him out once more.

He was the one in charge, and he could do whatever he wanted.

His tiny spat with his beastly half had taken his eyes off the human for a little bit though.

It took a little while for him to find her again, and when he did, his striking blue eyes narrowed, and his mouth tightened in irritation.

There was a man dancing with her.

Touching what belonged to him and only him.

The Alpa King stood up and flexed his fingers, the thrill of bloodlust filling him with excitement as he watched the human grind her a*s against the man’s front.

If he didn’t know anything at all, he knew one thing…

That all hell was going to break lose tonight.
