Rejected, Then Reborn -
Chapter 84
A year came and went by quickly, and before Lacy knew it, she and the new Council were reviewing plans to make way towards incorporating the human realm into her kingdom.
You see, the girl who had once been human herself had always known that being a Queen and a Dark Witch came with immense power, but it wasn’t until she was faced with the challenge of incorporating humans into the Supernatural world that she truly realized the magnitude of her power, and the significance her decision was going to have on her people for generations to come.
This was certainly not a decision to be taken lightly, and Lacy knew that very well.
Interestingly enough, the old council had been discussing the possibility of introducing humans to the world of Supernaturals for years, even before Lacy had stumbled into Supernatural Territory, but the decision had always been met with resistance. That same resistance seemed to have followed her here as well.
“I understand your fears,” She said, “Trust me, I do. But I also believe that we can find a way to coexist with humans. We don’t have to hide in the shadows forever. I just don’t get it, humans have heard stories of vampires, and werewolves. Fae too. I read a lot of stories growing up about these, trust me, they are not completely in the dark about us.” She argued with her council members.
“You were human once, so this isn’t something that would be easy for you to understand.” One Werebear muttered gruffly, quickly apologizing when one fae chewed him for being rude to their queen. Lacy gracefully brushed it off, wanting to hear as many people as she could before their session ended.
“You say you read about us when you were younger, but you didn’t believe any single thing you read, did you?” One werewolf, a respectable middle aged looking woman named Lisa asked, “Your Eminence… we all don’t mean to question your authority, but honestly speaking, a lot of us don’t think humans are ready to know we exist for real.”
“Let’s not forget that there’s also the problem of just how segregated they are among their own kind. What’s to say they soon won’t turn on us too?” Another council member added.
“That shouldn’t be a problem. We are the superior specie.” Lacy pointed out confidently.
“Indeed, we are, Your Eminence, but you are forgetting that their weakness has taught them to be creative and innovative. Opening up our world to them will be like equipping them with the elixir that will completely wipe us out eventually.” Lisa stated, a couple of Supernaturals nodding their heads in agreement.
But Lacy saw things differently.
She believed that it was time for humans to know the truth and for Supernaturals to live in harmony with them. It was a risky move, sure, but Lacy was confident that she could make it work.
“Let’s take a break and resume in a few,” Reed poked in his suggestion, one that was readily accepted by everyone else.
Everyone stepped out of the grand conference room, leaving the Dark Queen with her powerful mate, the Alpha King of the Lyken and Werecreatures Realm. She stepped into her mate’s arms almost immediately, groaning loudly both in weariness and frustration. “I really thought we had it in the bag, Reed.” She m****d softly, “They do not look in the least bit convinced that it could work, and the funny thing is that I totally understand their apprehension and their skepticism, but how long are we going to let this continue to hold us back? I still believe that having them with us is the right thing to do.”
Reed, who was stroking her hair, leaned down to k**s her forehead. “I know, love,” he murmured, “but it’s not going to be easy. We have to tread carefully and make sure that we have a very solid plan in place.”
Lacy nodded, looking up at him with a small smile. “I know,” she said, “But we have to start somewhere, don’t we? We can’t keep living in the shadows forever.”
The Alpha King chuckled softly, pulling his mate closer to him. “You’re right. We can’t. You’re so brave, my love,” he whispered, “And I’m so proud of you.”
She looked up at him, “But what do you really think about this idea?” She asked him suddenly, realizing that she hadn’t really sought out his direct idea on the subject.
He shot her a small smile, “I won’t lie, the thought of it completely terrifies me.” He admitted softly, “You have seen the lengths I have gone to make sure we Lykens have no records available to mankind, and so to open up to them entirely really freaks me out, but you’re right, Lacy. How long are things going to be like this? With their growing technology, it’s only a matter of time before they discover us. It’s best we reveal ourselves to them on our own terms than for us to be completely taken by surprise when they creep up on us.”
The Dark Queen smiled at him, feeling her heart swell with love and gratitude. Reed had really been her rock throughout the whole process, supporting her and encouraging her every step of the way. She knew that she couldn’t have done all she had achieved so far without him.
After a few moments, they broke apart, and Lacy took a deep breath, ready to face the council again.
She knew that she had to be persuasive and convincing if she was going to get them on board with her plan, and thanks to her mate and the love of her life, she was ready for all of that.
When they returned to the conference room, the Dark Queen stood at the head of the table, looking around at each council member in turn “I understand your concerns,” She began, “But guys, we can’t keep living in fear of humans forever. We have to take a leap of faith and trust that they can accept us for who we are.”
“But what if they can’t?” Lisa asked, “What if they reject us or worse, turn on us?”
Reed spoke up then, his voice low but firm. “We have to take the first step anyway, and it has to be a big one. We need to show humans that we’re not monsters, that we’re not here to harm them. We need to show them that we’re just like them, with families and loved ones and homes. We need to show them that we’re not the enemy.”
“We’ll have to take that risk,” Lacy replied firmly, agreeing with her mate, “because the alternative is to continue living in the shadows and hiding who we really are, and I don’t think as Supernaturals, that should be an option we should settle for. That’s not the kind of life I want for us or for our generation to come.” She declared passionately.
There was a moment of silence as the Council members considered her words. Finally, one of the Faefolk spoke up. “In the situation where we agreed to proceed with your vision, what would this plan entail, exactly?” He asked.
Lacy smiled, feeling a glimmer of hope.
Finally, progress.
“We’ll have to start small,” She said, “Perhaps with a few trusted humans who are sympathetic to our cause. We’ll work with them to gradually introduce the idea of the supernatural world to the rest of humanity.”
“It’s a risky move,” Another council member pointed out, “But not one entirely dangerous.”
“Exactly,” Lacy replied, “And if it doesn’t work out, we always have the option of wiping their memory, and sending them back into their world as though it never happened.”
There was a murmur of agreement around the table as everyone bought into her plan, and Lacy felt a sense of immense relief wash over her. It wasn’t going to be easy, but at least they were willing to consider her ideas.
Over the next few months, Lacy and the council worked tirelessly to put their plan into action.
They reached out to humans who Lacy had assessed and was convinced that they could be open minded and sympathetic to their cause and slowly began to introduce them to the supernatural world.
The selected humans looked around in awe, taking in the sights and sounds of the magical kingdom. They saw Vampires and Werecreatures and Faefolk, all mingling together in harmony.
They saw trees that glowed with a soft light, and flowers that danced in the breeze.
They saw the Dark Forest in all of its freaky glory.
They saw a world that was both beautiful and terrifying, and they didn’t know what to make of it, but Lacy and the Council were always around to answer their many questions.
They started really small, with simple things like showing them flashes of Werecreatures mid shift, and then moving to Faefolk and their unique body structure among other things.
They were taught about the different species of supernatural beings, and Lacy revealed who she really was to them when it was time.
As the humans became more comfortable with the idea of the supernatural world, Lacy, her mate and the Council began to introduce them to more complex concepts, like the intricacies of magic and the importance of maintaining the balance between the Supernatural and human worlds.
It wasn’t always easy, and there were times when Lacy and her team faced opposition from both humans and supernatural beings who were still slightly resistant to the change.
But they persevered, knowing that the stakes were too high to give up, and eventually they were able to introduce the Human world to the Supernatural, successfully integrating it to Lacy’s large kingdom.
She had finally done it, done what she had thought impossible.
Her world of a new order had finally been restored, and she was going to guard it with her very life!
