Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 144
That bank card was a symbol of Drake the Dragon, and it would allow people to recognize Adam.
Although the manager had never met Adam, all the people working for the Black Snake Brigade knew what this bank card looked like in case Drake the Dragon dropped in one day. Adam did not reply to the manager's question but asked instead, "Are you the person in charge here?"
The manager nodded his head before shaking it. "I'm the manager of the resort, but there is still someone above me."
Adam nodded and asked, "Can my card be used here?"
"Of course, of course!"
I mean, this resort is running solely because you might drop in one day! thought the manager to himself.
"That's good. Anyway, throw these guys out, and break that fellow's legs," said Adam.
The manager did not hesitate and gestured to the security guards. "Throw them out immediately, and don't forget to break that guy's legs."
The security guards were dumbfounded.
Dereck was the same. He looked at the manager in disbelief. "You motherfucker, didn't you say that violence was against the rules?"
The manager retorted, "That's because your card didn't give you the privilege to bypass the rules. Will you be leaving on your own, or do you need the security guards to throw you out? Also, hereafter, your diamond membership is canceled." Dereck was stunned as were his henchmen behind him. They stood rooted to the spot, mouths agape.
From the looks of it, a membership card that cost 7 million dollars was not enough to match Adam's membership card. They could not help but wonder how much Adam had spent to get his hands on that special card, 15 million? 20 million? At this time, the real boss of Longslide Resort also arrived. He asked in a deep voice, "What's going on here?"
Dereck was delighted. He hurried to greet the man, "Nelly, you're finally here! You should take a look at what your subordinates are doing. They're acting like fools!"
Nelly turned to look at the manager.
The manager whispered something in Nelly's ears and gave him Adam's bank card.
Nelly's body shook, and he roared, "Redfield, you're the fool!
"Security, throw him out, and don't forget to break his legs. Henceforth, anyone related to Dereck Redfield will be denied entry."
Dereck was dumbfounded.
In the next moment, he was thrown out along with his goons. As the security guards did not forget to break his legs, his men had to carry him to the car while he howled in pain. Nelly, the boss of Longslide Resort, returned the card to Adam and asked, "Sir, do you have any requests?"
Adam said, "I'd like to book a private room and order some of your specialties. Katie, when are you meeting with your classmates?"
Katie recovered from her shock. "Oh, the day after tomorrow."
Adam added, "I'd also like to throw a party here the day after tomorrow. Is the place free or has it been booked already?"
Nelly replied without hesitation, "Sir, there are no reservations for that day. We're open."
Adam nodded and said, "Okay, you guys can leave. I'm here for a meal, nothing else." Then, he turned to Sofia and said, "You wanted me to book you a place. I hope this is to your liking." Sofia looked at him in awe. "I have to admit that I'm more and more impressed by your ways. Just who are you? How many identities do you have?"
The corners of Adam's mouth twitched, but he did respond.
The manager led them all to an extravagant private room.
Katie helped Amelia up and brought her along.
Amelia sat on a chair and lowered her head, wishing she could become invisible.
"Why did you help me despite... despite all that I did to you?" asked Amelia after some time.
Katie shook her head and said, "Let bygones be bygones. Moreover, I could not just stand and watch while you were beaten to death."
Amelia gritted her teeth and was unsure how to reply. Finally, tears welled up in her eyes.
Katie gave her a handkerchief and sighed. "Regardless of what happened in the past, if you have nowhere else to go, you can come work for my company."
Amelia shook her head but did not give her an answer.
Then, she looked at Adam, who had appeared before her again. The only difference was that he had saved her today.
Adam had thrown her into the abyss of despair, and he was a nightmare she could not get rid of. Yet, it was he who had dragged her out of desperation this time, making her see the light again.
She wondered who he really was. No matter how many times she saw him, he always managed to do something shocking, leaving everybody in awe.
Amelia knew that she would not forget his face for the rest of her life. And today might be the last time she would see this face of his.
"Be careful of Dereck Redfield. Silas sent me here to entertain him. He plans to borrow the influence of the Redfields and stop all the banks in Lisle from giving loans to your company. You'll have to be careful from now on!" Then, Amelia got up and ran out of the room as tears fell from her eyes.
Katie was stunned. She sighed and did not chase after Amelia. She knew that Amelia would not feel comfortable staying with them.
Adam narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "It seems that Silas Camden won't stop until he's lost everything."
Sofia did not know of the grudge between the Hartleys and Silas Camden. However, she still cheered for her bestie's man. "I believe in you. I'm sure you'll crush him like an insect!"
Adam shook his head and said no more.
Very soon, the food was served. It smelled very good and looked delicious.
Adam had also ordered a bottle of wine. Katie got a little tipsy and forgot about all of her worries. Sofia also drank quite a bit.
The trio chatted until it was close to midnight. Then, Adam took Katie and Sofia back to the hotel.
He booked a room for Sofia on the same floor and returned to his presidential suite with Katie.
Katie was drunk and she could barely walk. Adam picked her up and took her to the bathroom, helping her take a bath.
Half an hour later, the sound of the shower stopped. Adam carried Katie in his arms and took her to the bedroom.
The half-asleep Katie had a content smile on her face. Adam placed her on the bed and covered her with a quilt. Then, he returned to the bathroom, picked up the clothes that were scattered all over the ground, and threw them in the washing machine. After that, he went back to the bedroom and changed into a more comfortable set of clothing.
While he was changing his clothes, his phone rang.
"Waah... Daddy, can you come to pick me up? I had a dream today. You and Mom had a new baby, and you didn't want me anymore... Daddy, I miss you..." sobbed Annie.
Adam's heart winced. For the past two days, he and Katie had had their hands full with everything that happened back at Plot No. 3. They were returning home very late in the night so had ended up neglecting Annie.
"Annie, don't cry. Daddy will come to pick you up immediately. Count to 100, okay? I'll be there by then!" said Adam.
"Daddy, be quick. I'm waiting for you! 1, 2, 3..." Annie started to count without even hanging up.
Adam did not waste time and headed downstairs.
As he arrived at the parking lot, he saw a janitor coming his way while pushing a cart. The janitor wore a cap, and his face was barely visible. His head was also lowered as if he did not want anyone to see what he looked like. Adam found the man suspicious, but he was worried about Annie, so he did not stop to take a closer look.
The two brushed past each other. Adam left the elevator while the janitor got inside.
The doors of the elevator started to close slowly. Then, a foot was placed between the closing doors, forcing them to open again.
Adam had come back.
"Who are you?"
