Xander’s POV

I was so mad. I stormed out of the room after Sophia released her hold on us. How could she do this to us? She was mine. The mate bond with him was broken when he died. I was there for her to pick up the pieces that he left behind. I was there through her pregnancy and every night with the kids, not him.

I finally made it to my office and slammed my door shut. I didn’t want to see either of them right now. I was close to losing control. I walked over and punched a hole in the wall trying to feel something, but it was no good. I continued to punch holes in the wall until Jax interrupted me.

“Hey, a*****e, calm down or I will take control.”

“You should be madder than me right now. She is ours,” I growled at him.

“I am not happy, but you have to remember he was also her mate. Put yourself in his shoes, wouldn’t you want her to mark you again?”

He cut the link after that. I didn’t want to admit it, but he was right, but I was still so angry. We can’t trust him yet. He was working with the enemy. The enemy wanted to take her away. We still don’t know whether he isn’t helping for sure. She just complicated things so much more. I walked over to my bookshelf and threw it to the ground and started to kick it. I vaguely heard someone knock on the door, but I wasn’t in the mood to see anyone. I continued to kick the bookcase and didn’t hear anyone come in.

“Are you about done acting like a toddler?”

“Go away, Sophia. I don’t want to say something I will regret later.”

“Too bad, I am not leaving until we discuss this. So, tell me why you’re so mad. He was your best friend, your f*****g brother basically. The three of us shared a bond so deep that I didn’t think anything would ever break it, even when he came back.”

“He works for the f*****g enemy, and now you just welcome him back with open arms. How do we know that he won’t turn on us? Now that he is marked by the Luna, he is part of this pack.”

“He was always part of this pack. I didn’t have a choice about marking him.”

“You always have a choice. You could have just waited.”

“No, I didn’t have a choice, Stella made me. It was either I did it or she would take control and do it.”

“Why did she want to mark him so badly?”

“I don’t know, but when things got heated between us, that was the choice she gave me.”

I was still so angry with her, but I can understand the choice she was faced with.

“Sophia, you need to leave right now. I am not trying to be mean; I just want to be alone.” I told her as I turned my back to her.

She didn’t listen though, as I could hear her walking closer to me. She came up behind me and wrapped her arms around my waist and leaned up and whispered, “I love you so much and I would never do anything that I thought put you or our pack in danger.”

This woman knew how to break down all my walls and I don’t think she knew she was doing it. I just grabbed her arms and pulled them tighter to me. I could hear her take a deep breath and relax into me. She suddenly spun around me and slammed her lips onto me. She snaked her arms up my chest and around my neck as she deepened the k**s. I didn’t say anything back to him. I turned back and found that Sophia had stripped and was standing naked in the middle of my office. I made my way down to the conference room to see that most everyone was here and waiting for me. I walked over to my dad and Tyler and had a casual conversation with them. I made my way to the podium so I could begin this meeting.

“Thank you everyone for being here today. As most of you know, Kane is back but he doesn’t have his memories back at this time. I also have to inform you that he has been King Jags pack. He has provided us with valuable information. At this time, he is being held in a room by a guard. What I want to ask you all at this time is if anyone knows how we get his memories back?”

Someone stood up. I didn’t know who they were, but they must be part of the witch’s council.

“Alpha, I think it might be best if you killed Kane. If he is working with the enemy, who knows what he is telling them.”

“That is out of the question. I will not kill him until he proves himself a traitor.”

The door opened and Sophia walked in and had a big smile on her face. She walked past everyone sitting down and came up on the podium to me.

“Alpha, have you had him checked out by a doctor? Could he have a brain injury that his wolf couldn’t heal?”

“Yes, and he was perfectly healthy.”

Everyone just kind of sat there and looked at me waiting for something else. I needed to address an upcoming attack with them, but I just wasn’t ready. There were too many people, and I didn’t know who I could trust on the witch’s council.

Suddenly, the back door flew open again and Kane came staggering in. He acted almost drunk.
