Sophia's Revenge -
Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 103
Kane’s POV
I had just let both my mate and her mate know that I slept with the one person in the world that I never should have. s**t, Xander had been sleeping with her and Sophia and I didn’t let him live it down. She was a w***e when she was here, and she is still a w***e in King Jag’s pack. I was waiting for the bomb to drop and for one of the two of them to kill me, but they didn’t. In fact, they just agreed that Sophia got to kill her in any way she wanted. I was on board with that. She knew who I was and what she was doing. She will get is coming to her.
Xander had finally gotten his bags packed and left. He gave me a big lecture about how he would rip my head off slowly if I so much as touched Sophia or if I put her in any danger. I was being truthful when I said that I loved her and I wouldn’t do anything to hurt her and protect her with my life.
“Baby girl, come here please,” I asked her and held my arms open to her and she happily stepped into them. I just sat there holding her and it felt amazing. River was purring in my head, just content.
“I love you, Kane.”
“I love you too baby girl and I am so sorry I missed so much.”
“I can show you whatever you want to see.”
“Show me everything. Show me your pregnancy. I am so sad I didn’t get to see you swollen with our pups. I bet you were glowing.”
“I was a house is what I was.”
“Just show me, baby girl, I will be the judge of that.”
We walked to the couch and turned the lights down. She came and snuggled up to me and I could see that she was calling Stella forward. Her eyes started to glow.
“Kane, I am going to warn you, things weren’t easy for a while. Xander and I didn’t seem to get along. What I show you, you cannot hold against him.”
“I can’t promise anything.”
“Then we will not show you.”
“OK, I promise.”
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath and when she opened them it was my funeral. She showed the speech she gave and it was beautiful. She spoke from the heart. I could see that it still affected her as she had tears running down her face. I didn’t say anything and let her continue to show me. She flashed to her getting sick and fighting with Xander and then her finding out she was pregnant and how Xander treated her for a few weeks while he was trying to find King Jag. I was going to kill him for what he did, but then she showed me when they found out that she was having twins and how Xander finally fully stepped up and took care of her.
Suddenly, she brought up her labor and this was the hardest for me to watch. I should have been here for this. I should have been here when my son was born. King Jag took this away from me. He knew who I was, and he should have sent me back. He would pay for this.
By now I was crying as they laid him on her chest, and you could see the moment that she realized that I was the father. It was beautiful and what Xander said about raising him made me forgive him just slightly. She continued on for the first few weeks as they stumbled through parenthood. She finally got to the moment that she saw me for the first time when I returned and then she stopped and looked at me with tears in her eyes.
“Thank you, baby girl. I needed to see that. You were amazing carrying those babies and putting up with the a*****e Alpha. Neither one of us deserves you.”
“I love you, let’s go to bed because those boys are going to be getting us up in a few hours.”
I grabbed her hand and led her to our bed. I crawled in on my side and it was like heaven. This was the most comfortable bed there ever was. I pulled her as close to me as I could, and she just sighed in contempt. It didn’t take her long to fall asleep, but I laid awake just thinking how lucky I was to make my way back to her and my son. I know Xander still wasn’t happy about things, but I would get us back to where we were.
I tried to get up each time one of the boys woke up, but they were good at getting one of us up, and just before I could get them back to sleep, the other was awake. That was a long night. I don’t know how she does it. I got up before her and took both boys out of the room and shut the door. I was going to make the most of the next few days.
Xander had come back the day before our attack. He used a portal with Trevor to get back. He said he wanted to check on the boys and go over plans for tomorrow, but I knew it was to check on me and make sure I hadn’t done anything to betray him.
He went and got our map out and we sat down at the table so that he could show us what he expected.
“Here is the border where you are supposed to meet him. I will have people up in trees along here where I guess they will enter. It is the easiest access point. They will have guns but won’t shoot until the fighting starts or when they are retreating. Trevor is going to be around you guys but will have a cloaking spell, so you won’t see him. We are to appear at the last minute. When he thinks that he is going to get her, he will open the portal and we will attack in full force at that point.”
“I need to call him again. He will expect one more check-in.”
“I figured as much. Let’s get the phone.”
He handed me the phone and I turned it on. I held it in my hand while my palms got sweaty, this was going to be my last phone call to him, and I had to make this believable, but for some reason, I was nervous about it and I’m not sure if it is because I have to convince King Jag I am on his side or because I have to convince Xander I am not betraying him. I finally dialed his number and put it on speakerphone.
“Boy, it’s about damn time you called. We need to finalize our plans for tomorrow.”
“Sorry about that. Since Xander left, I have been trying to get as close as I can to Sophia, and it’s worked. I have her full trust. I have asked her to go on a picnic tomorrow and I will lead her to the border and set up our picnic and wait for you.”
“That sounds perfect. Make sure that you are in somewhat of an opening, so I can spot you easily.”
“How many people are you bringing?”
“Not many. I don’t have a reason to do I?”
“No, I just wanted to make sure you were protected on your way here.”
“Don’t you worry about me boy, I can handle my own.”
“OK, looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, and getting the hell out of here.”
He disconnected the call, and I handed the phone back to Xander, who was shooting daggers at me. I am not sure what the hell I did but I am about to find out.
“Why in the f**k did you ask him how many people he was bringing? You tipped him off.” Xander yelled.
“No, I didn’t. He likes us to think that we are concerned about his safety. It’s like we have to protect him at all costs. I want to be the one to kill him tomorrow. He will let me get close and when I do, I will rip his throat out.”
“I don’t care who kills him so long as he is dead.”
Xander walked with Sophia over to the couch and just held her. They needed a few moments alone, so I walked into the bedroom to give them privacy. I could hear them talking quietly, it sounded like they were arguing, but I wasn’t sure. When this was over, Xander and I were going to be having our own argument about how he treated Sophia.
