Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 105

Xander’s POV

I came back this morning to see my beautiful mate and kids before this afternoon as we didn’t know what would happen and I ended up spending an amazing morning with her, but unfortunately, Kane was there. We both spent the morning with her naked in the sheets, and while it was amazing, I could still feel Kane being with her. It gave me an ache in my chest. I had to figure this out soon because neither of us would give her up, but I didn’t want to feel it whenever she was with him, even if I was there.

I went and gave all my babies a k**s and checked in with my dad to make sure everything was ready to go. My mom and sister would take the kids to our safe room, along with anyone else who couldn’t fight. I had one more thing to do, and that was to have Kane call King Jag again. This man needed to die, and he needed to do that today. I was tired of being away from everyone, and I wanted Sophia to feel safe.

I went back to our room and dug out Kane’s cell phone and found him in the bedroom getting dressed.

“Hey man, you need to check in with King Jag one more time. Don’t f*****g screw this up either.”

He just nodded at me and looked at the phone I threw on the bed and then continued to get dressed. He was finally completely dressed and went over and grabbed the phone.

“Before I do this, you need to answer a question for me.”

“What, we don’t have all day!”

“What is your problem with me?”

“Everything! You come back here like nothing happened and Sophia just waltzes back into your arms and here we are. I don’t trust you and I don’t know that I want you around, but I can’t stop it from happening. So let’s agree to just leave each other alone unless it involves Sophia or the boys.”

He didn’t answer but turned the phone on and made his call.

“I’ve been waiting for your call. What took so long?”

“Sorry I’ve been busy with Sophia. It seems the more time I spend with her, the more she trusts me. It was hard to get away.”

“You better not have touched what’s mine.”

“Never sir.”

“Good, I will see you in two hours and I have a big suprise for you.”

“What’s that?”

“Now if I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise now, would it? And besides, your little w***e here wouldn’t like it if I told you.”

I was ready to jump on Kane and attack him. If I didn’t know who he was talking about, but I had my suspicions and if he hurts Sophia I would kill him. He turned the phone off and tossed it at me.

“If your little surprise hurts Sophia, I will end you. Do you understand me?” I yelled in his face.

“You mean hurt her like you did with that f*****g warrior. At least when I did it I didn’t know about her at the time, unlike you who let someone touch you while our pregnant mate was up here suffering!”

Our faces were about two inches apart and we were both seething with anger, ready to knock each other’s lights out.

“What in the hell is going on in here?” Sophia asked with her h*p cooked out and her hand on it.

“Nothing beautiful. Come tell me goodbye at the door please.”

I walked away from Kane and grabbed Sophia’s hand and walked her to the door. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close to me, holding her as tight as I could.

“Why are you two fighting? You used to be so close.”

“It’s nothing beautiful. Please be safe and smart today and, no matter what happens, I love you so much.”

“Why does this feel like a goodbye?”

“It’s not. I just want you to know how much I love you.”

“Well, I love you too!”

I just stood there holding her and breathing in her scent. It made me and Jax calm. It’s what we need right now. I finally pulled away and gave her a k**s and walked out the door not knowing what would happen next. I knew she was crying, but if I went back now I wouldn’t be able to leave her.

I made it to my parent’s room where my kids were. I kissed and held both boys. I didn’t care that one was not mine, I still considered him my son no matter what happened between Kane and me.

“DADDY, can we play princess?”

“No daddy has to leave again for work and you’re going to hang out with grandma today. I will be home for good in a while and then I promise we will play princess all day, OK?”

She had tears in her eyes and ran off crying. I hadn’t been able to spend a lot of time with her lately and I was hurting her. This was great. I had both of my girls crying now, but I had to do this for Sophia.

I ran after her and found her in the playroom. I walked in and scooped her up, sitting on the floor with her in my lap.

“Daddy, please don’t leave me.”

“Princess, I have to. I have to protect our pack and mommy.”

“Why?”

“Because a bad man wants mommy.”

“Well, he can’t have her.”

“I know princess, that’s what I have to go tell him.”

“OK daddy, but remember you have to play princess all day with me when you get home.”

“I promise!”

I pulled Lucy into a hug and kissed her head. It was time to go. I could hear Trevor out there waiting for me.

“Princess, I have to go now.”

Lucy got tears in her eyes again. It was tearing my heart out but I had to go. I carried her out to the living room and handed her to my mom, who took her to the kitchen. I walked over and got one last look at my boys and then walked with Trevor to the portal and we were sent back to where everyone was waiting at Alpha Danes pack.

“Welcome back, Alpha,” one of my warriors said as I landed on my butt from the transport.

I stood up and wiped myself off and nodded at my warrior and walked to Alpha Danes’s office.

He had Alpha Nathan and his mate Brooke there and they were finalizing plans. I had about two hours to go and we needed to review these with everyone.

“Hey, your back. We’re just going over the maps and getting ready to review it with everyone.”

“Good, let’s go” I grumbled.

“Hey man, you OK?” Asked Alpha Nathan.

“No, but I don’t have a choice about things.”

“Is this about Kane?”

“Ya, I wanna kill him.”

“Look, he was your best friend. Are you sure you’re not just mad because he left you and your mate?”

“No, it’s not like he had a choice in what happened, but he was working for the enemy, putting our mate in danger.”

“Right, but he didn’t know what he was doing. He thought he was helping someone else get their mate back. He was lied to and didn’t know what he was doing. He couldn’t remember.”

“I don’t care he put her in danger.”

“Dude, stop and listen to yourself.”

I was done with this conversation and walked away before I could get mad again. I walked over to his liquor cabinet and poured a glass of whiskey and downed it before I poured another one.

“Xander, I don’t care if you drink up my whiskey, but you don’t want to go into today drunk.”

“I know, but f**k I just hate him and wish he would go away again.”

“Channel that rage against the enemy, not your best friend.”

“Jax, can you chill out? You are making it worse for me. I’m trying not to hate him, but your feelings are making it hard.”

“No, something doesn’t feel right about him.”

“Like what?”

“He slept with Clarissa and works for the enemy.”

“Well, I slept with her too and I knew I had a mate, such a chill dude.”

“Your right, your an a*****e.”

“Let’s not go there again. I need you today.”

“Ya I will be ready.”
