Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 109

Xander’s POV

I opened my eyes, and the light was blinding me. I went to lift my hands to rub my eyes and try to get them to refocus, but I couldn’t. They were bound to the bed. No matter how hard I tried, they wouldn’t budge. I took in my surroundings and noticed that I was in a hospital bed. What the hell happened? Last, I remember I was in Doc’s office and now I am bound to a bed. I just laid there waiting for someone to come in. I tried to reach out to Jax, but he wouldn’t answer me. I just laid there for who knows how long until I finally heard my door open. I couldn’t see who it was since the curtain was closed. I could hear them whispering back and forth and finally, I shouted at them.

“I can hear you.”

They ripped the curtain open and my parents were there with Doc. They all just stared at me. My mom held pity in her eyes and Doc and my dad had anger in their eyes.

“Please tell me how Sophia is?”

“Still alive,” Doc answered curtly.

“OK, now tell me why am I tied to this damn bed? I need to be with her.”

“You’re not going anywhere. Do you not know what happened yesterday?” My dad asked.

“No, Jax won’t answer me, and I remember being in your office and then waking up here.”

“Damn it, you need to keep your wolf under control,” yelled my dad.

“I don’t know why he keeps doing this. We just got so mad that he pushes forward, I can’t control it. What did he do?”

“Well, Kane is laying in a bed beside Sophia unconscious,” my mom said with sadness in her voice.

Crap, we did it again. I know he is my best friend and I need to work through this issue I have with him, but for some reason, I can’t trust him. He was working with the enemy, even though he didn’t know it. I need to get out of here. I need to check on both of them.

“Can you guys please let me out of here?”

“Can you control yourself, son?”

“Yes, Dad. Jax is currently not speaking to me, and I can’t feel him.”

My dad walked over and released the restraints. I moved my wrist around slowly, stretching them out. Once they felt better, I got up and went to the bathroom and freshened up a little, and brushed my teeth. I walked back and left my room, saying nothing, and went straight to their room. When I finally made it there, I was heartbroken. My mate was still pale and looked half dead, and then there was my best friend. He had black and blue handprints around his neck. They were my handprints. I tried to kill him yesterday and from the looks of it, I almost succeeded. I grabbed a chair and went and sat between the two of them.

“Jax, are you there?”

“I don’t want to be.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I can’t believe I did this. This is all my fault. It’s like my anger takes over and I can’t stop. This started when Sophia showed up.”

“Dude, you’re jealous. Kane has never done anything to make us jealous. She loves us both. If anything, we should grovel at her feet. Some things we have put her through are not right.”

“I know, man, I just can’t help it.”

He cut the link and left me alone again. I sat there just holding Sophia’s hand and watching both of them breathe. Nathan and Brooke came in.

“Hey Alpha Xander, how are you today?”

“I’ve been better, and please just call me Xander.”

They both just nodded at me, and Brooke stepped around me and started working on Sophia. She placed her hands gently on her neck and closed her eyes. She didn’t emit any glow when she worked like Sophia, but it was nice to see that someone cared enough for her that they would come and do this. Once she was done, she moved over to Kane and did the same. You could see his bruises getting slightly better. Once she was done with Kane, she stepped back, and Nathan came up behind her and held her. She had used a good amount of energy and would be tired.

“Brooke, thank you so much for coming and doing this. I will forever be in your debt.”

“No, I am in their debt. They saved me. King Jag was also after me and now I can be free and have pups.”

Nathan bent down and scooped her and took her out of the room and left me alone again. I dozed off and on throughout the day. The nurses came and went all day and around dinner, my mom brought me some food. She left quickly and didn’t say anything, just kissed the top of my head. I wasn’t hungry. I just wanted them both to wake up.

I was woken up by someone trying to clear their throat. I jumped up, not caring which one of them was awake. I was just excited that one of them had woken up. I went to his bedside and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“Don’t talk. I will get Doc and some water for you.”

I ran out of the room and to the nurse’s station and let them know Kane was awake and grabbed a pitcher of water. I headed back into their room, and he was up off his bed, standing over Sophia.

“Kane, back in bed.”

He just shook his head at me and kept standing there. I finally pulled a chair up so he could sit down. He happily took it and sat down and picked up her hand. I gave him his water and walked over to the other side of the bed and grabbed her other hand. Doc finally walked in.

“Kane, you should be in bed.”

He just shook his head no at him.

“Very well then. At least let me do an exam on you.”

Doc walked over and looked at his neck and had him swallow and moved his head around.

“Your throat will heal. Can you speak?”

“Yes,” he replied, but it was weak and broken, but you could understand him.

“I think in the next few days you will be good to go.”

He walked away and left the three of us alone. I turned to Kane; I was going to make this right.

“Kane, I am so sorry. Jax took control and I couldn’t stop him. I don’t even remember what happened.”

“This is the second time you have done this to me, and I am not ready to forgive you just yet. I did everything you asked of me when I came back, but you still didn’t trust me. Will you ever trust me again?” He mind linked me back.

“Yes, but I will not lie. It’s a work in progress, but I promise I will do everything in my power to not beat you again.”

He just turned back to Sophia and continued to watch her. We both slept off and on throughout the night. When morning came, I sent my mom a mind link to bring Kane some clothes so he could clean up and be more comfortable. It didn’t take long for her to get here. She also had breakfast with her.

“Boys, you both need to eat and, well, you both need a shower and maybe some sleep. I brought you both clothes, but what are the odds that I can get you both to go home and clean up properly and sleep for a few hours?”

“Mom, I won’t leave until she wakes up.”

Kane just nodded in agreement. He got up and grabbed his clothes and headed to the bathroom. We heard the shower turn on, and it didn’t take long to see the steam coming from under the bathroom door. My mom finally left right before Kane came out of the shower. He looked better after that. He took his chair and grabbed the breakfast my mom brought for him and ate it.

“Are you feeling better after your shower?”

“Yes,” he mind linked me back.

“You’re going to have to talk to me. We have to run this pack, you know, plus we share a mate, and we have kids.”

“You’re also going to have to stop beating me anytime you and your little wolfie get jealous,” he mind linked back.

I stopped trying and we both just sat in silence for three days. Sophia had yet to even move or flinch or anything. Brooke came every day and tried to heal her more, but at this point, you couldn’t see anything but a very tiny scar on her neck.
