Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 45

Kane’s POV

f*****g, Xander came in here and tried telling me that he had shown that letter to Clark and I lost it on him. I got up and was yelling at him and tried to make him leave. He had no right to do that and no right to be here. His wolf took over and ended up breaking my jaw. Now I couldn’t talk and would be eating through a straw for a few days. Then he demands I meet him after dinner.

Sophia woke up in the middle of our fight and kicked him out. I went to comfort her, but she refused. The things she thought about herself were far from the truth and it was all Xander’s fault. He would be hearing about this.

I waited outside her room until Luke showed up. I know she will try to leave. Once he was there, I headed out to find Doc and get some pain pills because this hurts like a bitch.

“Well, your jaw is definitely broken but you’ve had this before. No talking and only eating through a straw until it feels better, a day or so and you should be good. Here are some pain pills. Now go home and get some sleep.” he said.

I went to the pack house and went past my room and straight to Sophia’s room. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep in my room. I needed her scent to calm me down. I took my pain pills and crawled into bed, passing out within minutes.

“Kane get up. We’re having a meeting and you need to be here. The Alpha’s office in five minutes.” Alpha Ty mind linked me waking me up.

I had no clue how long I had been out for, but it was getting dark already.

I got up and headed down there and met Xander in the hallway.

“Kane, I am so sorry. Jax took control. We were so mad. I have screwed everything up and I’m just trying to fix it. You wouldn’t let me talk and you were trying to kick me out. I really didn’t mean to break your jaw.”

“Go to hell, Xander.” I mind-linked him.

He didn’t say a word to me after that. We both walked into the office together and found Alpha Ty, Luna, Caroline, and Clark waiting for us.

“Kane, I know you’re angry. We’re all angry right now, but we have to put that aside and work together because there is more dangerous stuff ahead. Clark has seen the letter and was able to determine that a witch was helping those two she-wolves.”

Again, I mind-linked everyone but Clark, since he wasn’t in the pack, we couldn’t connect. “What do you mean a witch? Aren’t their laws against that?”

“Why are you using mind link Kane? Alpha Ty asked.

“Ask your son.”

Everyone turned to look at Xander, waiting for a reply.

“I’m sorry I lost control of Jax, and we may have hit Kane hard enough to snap his jaw.”

“What has gotten into you, Xander? You were not raised to be like this. I know you have more control over Jax than that. When I thought you couldn’t disappoint me anymore, you broke your best friend’s jaw.” Luna Caroline said.

“Mom, I said I was sorry.”

“Enough, we have bigger issues. Clark has a witch friend who has agreed to come to help us, but we have to provide a certain level of care for her. She wants a private house away from everyone. She will also place a masking spell on it so nobody will be able to see it. There is one more thing, wants to meet Sophia alone.”

“No!” Xander yelled out.

“We don’t have a choice. We need her help, and we have to agree to her demands.”

“Kane and I need to meet her first and will stay outside of her room the entire time.”

“I am sure that will work,” Alpha Ty said.

Xander kept looking at me weirdly. He kept glancing at my neck and my face. I thought my mark was fully covered but maybe not.

“Xander, you got a problem?” I mind-linked everyone.

“No, but is that a mark on your neck?”

I pulled my shirt aside so everyone could see. “Ya it is, and if you weren’t such an i***t you would have one too. That’s why she was at your office, but because of you and those two horrible she-wolves, she thinks the worst of herself.”

He didn’t respond but Luna Caroline came and wrapped me in a big hug. “Congratulations Kane!”

“Thank You.”

“Alright, we need to prepare a house for our visitor, and nobody needs to know about this. Please go and do what you need to,” Alpha Ty said, dismissing us.

“Kane, wait up. We need to talk.”

“What do you want, Xander?” I mind-linked him back.

“I want to apologize. I was so out of line, and I have been for a long time. I have hurt the people I love the most and I don’t know how to make it right. I also want to show you something if you follow me.”

“Xander, you haven’t been out of line for a long time, but you have screwed things up with Sophia so badly. She won’t even talk with me. She thinks everything that was in that letter was true. We need her to have confidence in herself because this war is coming sooner rather than later. So, you need to fix this fast.” I mind-linked him.

I followed him up to his room. He went over and opened his door and motioned for me to go in.

I walked in and this wasn’t his room anymore, it was a large open-plan living space. It had a living room with everything you could want. There was a small kitchen and dining space.

“When did you do this?”

“I’ve been working on it for a while. I wanted all three of us to have a living space. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and we all have closet space. I would like to bring Sophia here after she is out of the hospital. You two can take the master bedroom for now and I will take the spare until you all forgive me and let me back in.”

I was utterly speechless. The space was beautiful and just what we needed. There was plenty of room for all of us and we could be a family because that’s what they were to me.

“Thank you, Xander. This will be a start, that’s for sure. You need to talk to her, and I will see what I can do about that. Also, would you stop punching me in the damn face?”

“No promises, but I will try. Now can we please go see our mate? Jax won’t leave me alone about it.”

“Ya, let’s go.”

As mad as I was at Xander, I still had to forgive him for Sophia’s sake. She needed to mark him. She has to come into her powers before the war starts and I think that it is coming very soon.

“Xander, you need to know what she thinks of herself right now. It’s not good and she is really struggling. I am not sure what we are going to do to help her, but we have to.”

“I know, and it is all my fault. I will do anything she wants.”

“I know you would but here is how she feels right now. She told me she thinks she is a disgusting w***e and a slutty slave who doesn’t deserve us. She thinks you don’t want her. She said she is being selfish by having us both as mates. She says she doesn’t deserve either one of us.”

“Oh goddess, this is bad because that is the furthest from the truth. How can I show her otherwise?”

“I don’t know yet, but let’s go in and talk with her. She isn’t going to like either one of us in there right now.”
